****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Question of the Day:

What type of transportation will you be using on your trip? Include everything from getting to Disney to the parks to mini golf!

I'll be driving my car since I live in FL. My dad is flying down from WI and taking DME. Then, we will take either Disney transportation or my car depending on where we're going and whether we feel like waiting for a bus. We always try to drive to at least one park because it isn't a Disney trip if you don't take the parking tram at least once.

We drive to WDW but the car gets parked once we get to our resort. We let Disney do the driving from there on out. We will use the buses to get to and from the parks and DTD and then the boat and monorail at other times.

DD & I are driving down and staying two weeks!!! DH will fly down on Friday and stay the second week with us. He'll use ME from the airport. We'll mostly use the buses (or boats) for getting to and from the parks, but when we go for dinner at different hotels, we'll drive to that resort.

Magical Express, Disney buses, and the monorail. That's it! We're effectively trapped within the Disney borders... not that we mind!

11 days~! :moped:

DME, Disney busses, and the monorail! We're leaving all of the transportation in the hands of Disney.

I have been going back and forth about my car rental...but decided last minute it may be a good idea to keep it. I am traveling for the first time with little ones (my dbf has twin almost 3 year old boys). We are staying at Shades of Green--so walk to Poly and monorail to MK, and drive to the other parks. I think it will just be easier for nap time-and quicker to get around.

Finally finished getting the house all clean. I don't like coming home to a dirty home after having such nice accommodations at WDW. Anyone else do this too? :goodvibes

Just need to get the last of the laundry done right before we leave so I won't have that on top of the laundry from the trip.

10 days for us! Did online check in this morning.

I started packing last night. We are planning to take a small carryon suitcase plus a backpack each. I packed our toiletries, medicines, and snacks and I pretty much filled up one suitcase already! :scared1: There are some things in there that are still in boxes, packaging, etc. and I'm going to go through and remove all that and see how much space I can make.

How much luggage do you all take? Am I crazy for thinking I can fit an 11-night trip in this space? I plan to do laundry a couple times while there but I still have a lot of stuff left to pack and not that much room!

:thumbsup2I'm right there with ya! With a house/pet sitter coming, I always want the house nice. And I don't like to leave dirty clothes, or clothes in the washer or dryer, so I'm keeping up with my laundry! I think it almost makes the vacation nicer when you know your coming home and there's nothing to do but unpack and check on all your furry babies!:)

Cleaning the house is going to be my husband's job next week -- it's finals week at school but since he's taking mostly art classes he'll already be done with pretty much everything and should have time. I am the same as you -- vacation-is-over letdown is bad enough without having to immediately jump back into that old housework routine too.

I'll do the last load of laundry the night before we leave as I'm sure we will want to pack or wear some of the clothes we wore that day.

We are going to do the same for our 11 night stay. I'm not bringing more than 5 outfits per person and we will do laundry. I'm trying not to pack things that I know I can pick up at the store on our grocery run....to save space. I pack the younger kids outfits into gallon size ziplocs and squish all the air out, I can fit way more that way. I also, roll our oldests and myself and husbands clothes...it seems to take less space than stacking. The kids will each wear a sweatshirt/hoodie on the plane and that will be the only cool weather type clothing we bring....summer clothes don't take up much space.

Good luck! Can't wait to start packing!!

We drive to Florida and usually to all the parks. However I'm determined to go off on my own one morning and takes the bus to the parks. :thumbsup2 I want to walk around the resorts so we'll be taking the monorail around too. I want to go to POFQ to get some beignets so possibly the boat from DTD there.

What is that? Only 2 days until we're in the teens?!

Only 1 more day of class and then 3 finals and it's bye bye to my first year of college and hello disney packing!! :woohoo:

We'll probably start cleaning the house (my closet is a disaster) the week of. Since we leave Thursday, Sunday-Wednesday will be madness. :goodvibes

Yay for everyone leaving tomorrow - we're right behind you on Friday :cool1:

I'm starting to freak out a little bit, though. I have so much work still to do, two baseball games tonight, meetings tomorrow and open house tomorrow night. I need to pack the kids up for going to grandma's and make sure they'll have everything for school on Friday and Monday. Just feeling a bit overwhelmed. Don't think I'm going to get the house cleaned - though I envy all of you who will come home to a clean house :thumbsup2

So, what am I doing on the disboards??? :rotfl2:
