****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Is anyone else having trouble with the dining reservations page? Since late last night, I've been getting an error when I try to make a ressie :confused3

I haven't tried to make any new reservations but did have issues trying to see all my reservations yesterday. I just kept getting an error message. I haven't checked today yet.

So much to do before we leave Friday morning. That's ok, I WILL get it all done. Now kinda wishing I had taken Thursday off. Oh well. And, I keep checking the weather forecast and it keeps changing :scared1: When I looked yesterday the weather our first 4 days looked sunny and in the 80's this morning it looks like t-storms possible and still in the 80's. I don't mind a little rain shower (florida style - 10 minutes pour down, then sun comes back out) but I really don't want storms again.

We usually go in late August so I am used to looking at the extended forecast before a trip and seeing rain listed for every single day. The reality in August is that it's usually an afternoon storm, not an entire day of rain. Hopefully that is the case for this forecast too.
I would be surprised if it rained all week unless there's some huge system about to move through that I am unaware of. Keeping my fingers crossed too!

I actually like the afternoon storms in August, but an entire week of rain would not be fun.

When I went in September last year there was rain forcasted for 5 of the 9 days I was there. It said 60% chance on those 5 days. It never rained once! I am also hoping the weather holds out for us:worship:

In 8 days time we drive to the airport to stay the night....and in 9 days we will be flying!!! Today I am actually getting on with the packing, as I have suddenly realised just how very much there is to do before we leave!

I am another one who is now worried about the weather forecast....the last two years we went in January and it was mostly colder than it usually is that time of year :( This year we chose May deliberately figuring it HAD to be better, and being from England we NEED sunshine!!!! Well, it looks like the weather fairies are preparing some special icky weather just for us :rotfl:

But hey, we will be in the magic! And unless we are in the MK there is always a handy bar to pop into for a margarita while we wait it out!

Just did online check-in :cool1:

We only decided on this trip a couple of months ago, and I thought it would be here before I knew it - but now each day seems to be dragging by....just can't wait to be on that plane :goodvibes

To everyone leaving this weekend - have magical trips! :wizard:

Woo Hoo!! :thumbsup2

I just did the online checkin last night as well!! Yeah these days are definitely dragging. Next Thursday can't get here fast enough :goodvibes

Question of the Day:

What are some travel tips that you have for others? This can be for traveling with kids, adults only, flying, driving, extended family, and much more.

A great tip I learned on Disboards when driving with my nephews is to give them each a pizza box. Fill this pizza box with small toys, crayons, coloring books, and other small items to distract then. Then give them each a pizza box for the drive down. (We typically get the medium size box). That way you can easily close and open it, and they have a work station!

So, to make the time pass....where are you staying, and what are your plans?? We're at CBR (which you probably saw in my ticker). We arrive on Friday, and plan to spend the afternoon/evening at MK. Dinner ressies at Cali Grill at 9:30pm (which I'm trying to change to earlier if possible :thumbsup2).
Sat morning at AK, then hop to Epcot for the afternoon/evening - late lunch at Le Cellier (and hopefully some adult beverages in WS ;)).
Sunday morning we're doing the KTTW tour at MK (DH has always wanted to do this), then hopping to Epcot for dinner at Rose & Crown and Illuminations.
Leave Monday morning :sad2:

I've probably posted all this already on this thread, but I really need to pass the time (okay, I know I should be working :rolleyes1)

Eeek! I feel like I am soooo behind in the packing front. I am usually all packed 2 weeks before my trips. I have the suitcases out and clothes pretty much laid out, but still have all toiletries to get together and a bunch of other crap! I had to pack my DH for a trip he has this weekend first. I have to pack both of us on Friday....it is my only available day pretty much. Deep breath!! I am too A type for this last minute stuff, LOL!

I'm going back to WDW in 33 days!! WOO HOO!! Is it May 27 yet?

I got my Mickey Mail yesterday - I love it!

My list is made, and half of my stuff is packed and ready to go.

This is my 2nd solo trip, but I'm spending the first and last day with friends - the middle day is all mine. (Just a quick 3 day trip - these are SO much fun!)

I made reservations for dinner in Morocco the first day, and at the 50's cafe' on the last. Haven't eaten at either of these, so I'm really excited about them. Really looking forward to pot roast at the cafe'!

These quick 3 day trips are so much fun - I get to do so much in those days. And they're so easy to do - and not that terribly expensive either.

Banana dance time!

Love 50s PTC!!! One of our faves! The chicken pot pie is delish! Now I'm wishing we had an ADR there this time.

Question of the Day:

When spending time in DTD, what are you most recommended places to see, shop or eat at?

My kids love the Lego store. I like the tea & spices shop, though I can't remember the name.

For dining, Raglan Road is fabulous. Their scallop forest appetizer is to die for, and their Bailey's creme brulee tart is one of my very favorite desserts anywhere. T-Rex was very good too, and my kids absolutely loved it.

Question of the Day:

What are your tips for someone with no ADRs? Is there even a chance for walk ups? (Question asked by Rekins)

If you're told at the podium that a restaurant isn't taking walk-ups, get online or call Disney dining from your cell phone and try to get an ADR. I've seen that work several times where the podium was saying "sorry, we're full" but the dining system had ADRs available within the hour.

Question of the Day:

What is your favorite breakfast items on property? Either Sit down or quick serve.

I'm not really a breakfast person, but I do love the blueberry muffins at Main Street Bakery and Starring Rolls. And the juice served at Ohana for breakfast is very good.

Question of the Day:

In Epcot, what are some “smell the roses” attractions that are easy to miss?

The aquariums in the Seas pavilion. It seems like a lot of people hit the Nemo and Crush attractions without ever taking the time to look around, and it is such a nice area.

The Living With The Land boat ride. Never a line and the greenhouse sections are fascinating.

The gallery in the Japan pavilion. The exhibits change from time to time and are very pop culture cool. Right now they've got an exhibit about how Japanese myths influence modern anime, before that was a collection of mid-century tin toys.

10 days! We're actually at 9 days, 16 hours, 48 minutes if you want to get technical about it... lol!!! :cool1:

Take vitamin C the whole week BEFORE you leave on your trip. I have found that this really helps prevent catching germs when you get on the planes, and such. Who the hell wants to be sick while on vacation?

19 DAYS!! We're in the 10s!

I'm just posting to see my ticker, sorry. :lmao:

And also to apologize for being the loser who doesn't know how to read the question of the day before actually answering. :rolleyes1 I gave my smell the roses spots for 3 parks....I guess I missed the whole Epcot portion AT THE BEGINNING of the question.

So, travel tips....hmmmm....we always try to leave home right after lunch so that the kids can fall asleep for the first 2-3 hours of the drive. They don't realize they've slept very long and it cuts down the whining a little, plus it gets us almost to Florida.

When everyone is getting a little sick of the drive, we start scanning the satellite radio for random songs...the crazier, the better. And then we all sing at the top of our lungs (even if we don't know the words). The girls don't know any of the words, but they giggle and giggle. We do that for about 30-45 minutes usually and it helps to break up the time.

We usually bring some books, a DVD player, and the Color Wonder markers for the girls. Luckily we only have about a 7 hour drive, so we don't have too much to worry about.
