****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Add me on the list of cleaners:thumbsup2 The house needs to be spotless before we go on vacation. I better get to cleaning!

I'm a cleaner too, but I'm not holding out much hope for coming home to a clean house this time since I'm leaving DH and DS14 home!

I'm not procrastinating but I really over estimated how much time I had left to get everything done. For example, I like the house to be spotless when I leave. It's just nicer to come home to. So I started, and I am slowly coming to the realization that there is a TON of stuff to do. Cleaning out the garage took all day today. Decluttering in the bathroom led to organizing the drawers and replacing the drawer liners etc.
So.. just "cleaning" is turning into an all out purge and spring cleaning :faint:

Then.. these next two weeks are nutty work wise. I booked it all, so you think I would have realized I was going away and taken it easy. Nope.

So as is typical, I am going to be running around like a maniac to get everything done before I go. But that just makes vacation 10X sweeter when I finally get there!!

Good luck on your packing! I know it can be a chore!

We must be on the same page!:thumbsup2 I like the house super clean also, and we worked on our garage all day yesterday. Totally cleaned it out...:yay:

And usually 34 days out (I was almost ALL packed back in Oct for the cruise way before 34 days), I'm more prepared. Since we're doing the QSD, don't need any ADR's, we're paid in full, so it feels like I'm done. And since I now have older kids (25, 24yr olds), they tend to handle themselves. I love reading how everyone is getting packed up though, I'll peruse it in a week or two, and get going.!
I've still got to get a house sitter. We have done little bits shopping (my 12dd), and I've got stuff to shop for, but hoping after Jillian and I finish our 30 day shred, I can buy a different size. It's a love/hate kind of relationship...:rotfl:

But good luck everyone on starting to pack..I'll get there...later than sooner, I'm afraid!

I think I am in a hate/hate relationship with Jillian. We really need to become friends sometime soon though:p

Packing. I haven't started! Well sort of. I found a great checklist online and bought the things that need buying. Only thing left to get is the Bonine for DH. We have Gravol here and he far prefers Bonine for his motion sickness so I will need to pick that up after we cross the border and before we get to the airport.

Otherwise there are nice little piles of all the things I am bringing but no actual packing. I will drag the suitcases out tomorrow. After the cats nap in them I'll take a lint brush to them and start to pack.
Every single trip I bring out the suitcases and the cats jump in. Do you think they are trying to tell me something? LOL!

I have a question for those of you that have used garden grocer in the past... how far in advance do you order?

I did mine a little while ago. Maybe 3 or 4 weeks out from the trip this time. Usually I do it earlier. I've seen some dates sold out with a notice on the site that due to high volume there are no more delivery spots. But that only seems to be the case when it's a really busy time. I don't know when you're going exactly (boards are messed up and I can't see tickers) but if you are in this thread it has to be May sometime, so I would say you could do it soon. It can't hurt to just have it done with and be sure to get your time slot. I wouldn't worry too much though.

The Dis being down this weekend SUCKED!!! Also I am usually on the April page most, but most of them seem to have abandoned the boards - either b\c they are there now, or just got back.

11 Days to go. I can't wait. We told DD's friend Sat night, it went great and she is so excited to be going on her first trip to Disney.

This is just a shameless post just so I can see my ticker :lmao:

I'm getting to excited! We've had a few milestones that we got through this past week (daughter getting her license, testing for college) so that's a few more things I can cross of my list and that means that vacation is getting closer!!! :beach:

Question of the Day:

What are some must see attractions at the resorts?

We'll be arriving at Disney on May 28 - 6 weeks from today!!!! I'm trying to do a really good spring cleaning of my house this weekend, then I can definitely get into the "Disney mode" I'll get the suitcases out to start packing. I'm still making lists of what to bring, what I still need to buy, and rethinking all of my ADRs.

Can't wait!!!!

We'll be there one day after you on May 29! 42 days and counting!

16 Days!!!! :dance3:

I thought about using Garden Grocer also. We just need a few things. But I wasn't sure if they would drop your stuff off with the front desk or do we have to be there?

44 days! not packing, but putting things aside. The kids spent the weekend with their grandparents so I used that as an excuse to buy them luggage...they still don't know we are going to Disney. Thank goodness for this last visit, it would have looked suspicious to buy luggage for no damn reason! ;)

We have 38 days until we head out; we spent the weekend making sure that we had a count of what everyone needed. New swim trunks, shorts, etc. will be on our list.

We are finalizing our shirts that we are making for the trip and we have been saving fuel points to get a big discount for our first fill-up before we leave! :rotfl2:

We have plenty happening between now and then as our DS25 is graduating from college on May 12th so it will go by before we realize it!

Will

I'm just... URGH. I can't think of any other word. I want to leave now. ;_; And I keep watching the weather forecast, hoping we won't get stranded at the airport, or something. Unlikely, but... being paranoid is part of the deal, I guess!

At the POP, they have this enormous arcade... Bigger than anything we have here in NH, in any case. We got a coupon for 100 free points in the arcade, so we're definitely going to check it out.

Also, the Fantasia Mini Golf (Epcot Resort Area) is on our list of things to do. :)

18 days! Actually 17 hours 33 minutes & 30 seconds... I'm using WeGoShop this time around. I was going to use Garden Grocer but the prices seem better with WeGoShop and we can pick whatever brands we want instead of having to choose what they have to pick from. I'm putting my order in today.

Loved Wegoshop when we used them....came within $10 of what I would have paid at home for the exact items. It was awesome!

I've used Garden Grocer several times and was very pleased with their service. I placed my order around the 1 month/3 week mark. Each time, we have received a call from Garden Grocer telilng us that they were about to deliver our order and, when we told them that we hadn't arrived at the resort yet, they said that they'd leave our items with Bell Services. When we got to the Caribbean Beach Resort, we asked Bell Services about our order. They had it and brought it directly to our room about 10 minutes later. If you have refrigerated items and your order is left with Bell Services, they will put them in a refrigerator for you.

I wish we could use WeGoShop. I just find it easier to use Garden Grocer because I can see what I am ordering on the website. With WeGoShop it ends up being difficult because I am Canadian and never know what specific products or brands to ask about. We have some of the same brands, but not most, so I prefer to see what I am ordering. It does end up being more expensive.

Wishes from the beach at the Poly - especially if you're staying there. It's so nice to just walk back to your room after the fireworks - no crazy crowds!

This past trip, my middle son got a Hidden Mickeys book, and we had a ball searching them out at both the Poly and GF. They're in the theme parks too, of course, but it was fun wandering around the resorts looking - the CMs were so helpful too, they knew just what we were doing and offered hints :thumbsup2

It will be our first time at Pop, we will just check everything out. I'm so excited I can't wait.

LOL - our cats used to do that too and now when we bring them out the dog starts to get mopey. they are SO SMART!!!
I'm trying to hold off with the suitcases for a few more days. I'm sure once i'm at the 1 week mark i won't be able to resist any longer. Right now it's just one overflowing box and one really large suitcase sitting in the corner with the lid down but it's got a pile of my clothes and a pile of Dd's in it. I'm working VERY hard and NOT getting the other suitcases out though. lol

ya, everyone is leaving now or gone on that board. It's nice to pop on and get an update here and there about how things are going.
I bet the excitement is at a very high level right now since everyone knows now hey???
