****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Question of the Weekend:

What are some attractions that you recommend getting Fast Passes for? Have you seen any sold out? Have your utilized more then 2 fast passes a day?

I'm not sure how we'll deal with fastpasses this time around - there will only be me and Dsis - and I know we won't want to be backtracking to stay within the window.

What do I bring that's not on the usual packing list?

Peppermint foot cream! I buy the one from Bath and Body Works; it feels so good on my tired tootsies at the end of the day.

I also bring a sarong. I use it on the plane for a light blanket, throw it in my park bag to put over my shoulders in restaurants when the A/C is chilly, use it as a "lamp shade" so I can read if DH wants to sleep, sometimes I take it to the pool. I've been taking one on trips for years now and I think I'd feel lost without it! :rotfl:

51 days!!:banana::banana:

And yeah! We are going NEXT MONTH!

Luckily I have had school to distract me and so the time is going by faster. We are heading out this weekend to go buy all of our new vacation clothes that we need! I was at target yesterday and saw the travel sized area and said "Oh my goodness, this is SO making me want to pack for Disney right now!" :lmao:

25 days to go!!!!
Calling to add the DDP today. We rented points. Originally we weren't going to add it, but then my MIL and FIL decided to join us for their first trip in 20 years. Once I started booking TS ressies like O'Hana and Chef Mickeys for all of us every night the DDP made sense. Next trip we'll wing it and use the TIW card, but it didn't work out to much of a savings on this trip with all those buffets and character meals.

I am really looking forward to seeing shows this time! Would you believe that in 5 family trips over the last 5 years we haven't been to one single show? Not one. No Fantasmic, No Festival of the Lion King, no Finding Nemo at AK. None.
Why you ask? Because my family are alllll rides allll the time.
But MIL and FIL are motion sick prone, and like to take it easy so now I have someone who will come with me:thumbsup2

I am also looking forward to our onsite Universal stay. I loved HP land on our last trip, but we took a shuttle over from Disney. It will be nice to have the early entry and to wander back to our room when we want a break.

So ready for this vacation!!!

My DD is in Year Round school, so this is her Track out time, but we did take her our for a week when we went last October. My DS (17) is not going - he is "too cool" to go to Disney.

MK on May 2nd look for us, we will all be wearing either grey or white t-shirts with a Mickey that is filled with our names. HS on the 6th we will all be wearing green t-shirts with etch a sketch with our names in them. Say "HEY" if you see us.

For sure:thumbsup2

41 days... so close... I should be getting some Disney goodies in the mail soon, right? I hope April goes as fast as March did!

Guess what, May 2012 people??

YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY NEXT MONTH!!!

That just sounds so wonderful!

It's finally becoming real to me. Before now, WDW just seemed like a far off trip that was taking forever to arrive. But now! Now I can start thinking about packing and buying travel-sized items and can begin looking at the 10 day weather forecasts....:woohoo: One more month, everyone! Just hang in for one more month!:wizard:

One very, very, slow month. :rotfl:

:yay: 30 days until I board the plane for Orlando!! :yay:

Well I finally have all my May Mickey mail.. I have my park maps I ordered, the booklet for my package then a booklet for my one night room only ressie and then over the weekend we got our ME stuff!

for my trip in 5 days - there was no Mickey mail :sad2: I had to stay off site due to cost.. BUT oh well I am going to park everyday and watching my DD play softball in the WWoS and won't be at work LOL..

30 Days until me and my little princess (7) head off to Disney!! We are very excited. I won't start packing yet ( I love to wait until the week of. I will start a To Do list and also a packing list though! I still have to do some shopping for our trip too.

Does anyone else try to come up with all kinds of things to keep busy until the trip? I have decided to start my spring cleaning LOL! That should keep me pretty busy all month! :rotfl:

I made out my menus for the next 32 days and threw a bunch of Disney movie nights in there. A few non-Disney nights too... just to keep myself busy :) Mulan night is tonight!

Yes!! We have family things planned for Easter, and a busy weekend the following weekend. I need to plan some of the weeknights though. Some days are crazy around here with lessons and meetings and dinners and homework.. but the others just draaaaagggggg.
I like Budafams idea of a Disney movie night with dinner. We did that for our first trip years ago. I am going to plan one or two a week until we leave. Great idea!!:goodvibes

I won't have to try to be busy -- I have three major projects at work that will be ending 7-14 days before my trip. All three are going to require me to work extra hours, evenings, weekends, and basically whenever I can spare the time.

My mom has been having eye problems for about a year now which are only just now starting to be better, and only a little at that. She's gone to the doctor an average of once a week for months!

I'm trying to keep caught up on housework as well and do some decluttering/cleaning. Our house is in the middle of a remodel too, but I'm hoping that will be done by the time we leave for our trip. :rotfl:

After all this I'm going to be ready for something FUN!

Anyone started packing yet? Ordinarily I would already be packed, except for the last minute stuff. We are headed to NH for 5 days next week, so I can't really start until we get back.

MICKEY MAIL!!!!!!

It's a week or so early this year, no?

This is our first trip ever. We are going May 4-12. I am packing the usual shorts & tshirts along with ponchos for rain. My question is should we pack long sleeves, sweaters, jackets, or a couple pair of jeans for evening parades and fireworks? How cold will it get at night? My daughter freezes when we go in restaurants so she will have something but should we all plan for this?
Thanks!

The new luggage tags are so cute!!!!! We have rented points for this trip and the last few trips so I don't get them anymore. I still have the old ones on my suitcases though!

I don't really know what to pack myself. I imagine the typical t-shirts and shorts and I'll throw in one or two hoodies or light jackets and one pair of jeans for everyone? I usually do laundry one evening on the trip so I don't overpack.
I doubt we'll need them often, but it did say the average low is 65 in the evenings so I'll bring them just in case.

I guess part of that answer has to do with where you live. If you're from Alaska, shorts are good. If you are from a warmer climate, the temps will be cooler for you but in all the times I went in May I don't recall ever needing anything more then a light sweater. I wouldn't pack more then a light sweater and maybe a pair of jeans each. I'm from NY so the jeans I come down in is way more then I need.

I'm definitely more of a dress/skirt wearing person than jeans/pants/shorts, so I'm bringing light spring/summer dresses and/or a (thinnish) denim skirt and t-shirt. DD will wear either dresses or skirts and tops as well. We both find them more comfortable and attractive than pants. They are casual-type dresses so hopefully it won't look too weird!

Yay I got Mickey Mail!!!! I called to order more yellow luggage tags too, we are flying SW and need 4 of them all together.

Everyone is asking what we are doing fromnow till the trip, well I just have a little thing called a wedding to plan. Haha, you know nothing too big!

I am starting to pack this week! 11 days is a lot of clothes :scared1:
