****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Just for fun, I'll answer the questions, too!! Ok, ok...I pretty much just love talking about the trip since I can't talk about it with the kids!! ;)

What the hey, I'll answer the questions, too. So excited!

Nothing concrete, but probably Magic Kingdom in the morning and Epcot at night (evening extra magic hours).

1-MK 2-Epcot 3-DHS 4-AK

Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar

What is the first ride/attraction you will go to in Epcot?
Soarin' (usually Test Track, but it will be closed when we go)

Cap'n Jack's

What is you favorite viewing place for the following WDW events?:
1. Illuminations 2. Wishes 3. Dream Come True Parade
1. Usually we end up around Italy. 2. Main Street. 3. Don't watch the parades.

What Resort did you pick and why?
Pop Century because it's the first Disney resort we ever stayed at, we like the theme, and it just feels like coming home when we stay there.

What is your #1 Tip for 1st time visitors?
Take any plans you have and rip them up. Just see what you can, enjoy yourself, take breaks, and take time to appreciate the little things such as the detail that goes into the attractions.

Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?
I'm driving since I live only 4 hours away, and my dad is flying down from Milwaukee.

Good morning to all my fellow May travelers! For any of you who haven't started reading my pre-trip report, I have great news to share. Our daughter and new son-in-law are joining us on our WDW vacation! They live about 9 1/2 hours from us now that they are married and we don't get to see them as often as we would like. They came home a week ago for a family wedding and we sprung the surprise on them that we would pay for their trip to WDW if they wanted to join us. They were super surprised and graciously took us up on the offer! I can hardly wait for us all to be together again.

1. Illuminations 2. Wishes 3. Dream Come True Parade
1. The UK area 2. CR-CL or Cali Grill 3. Hub facing Main Street

What Resort did you pick and why?
This time we'll be in the Royal Rooms at POR. We don't stay moderate often, but it is the only one we haven't stayed at, plus the rooms will be brand new. In October we are planning to hit WDW and DL in 10 days, so cutting back to moderate on this trip will help put more $ toward our October trip!

What is your #1 Tip for 1st time visitors?
Familiarize yourself with transportation, parks and hotels. I can't tell you how many times people were on the bus to AKL thinking they were going to to park :sad2: We also had a couple in the hot tub with us at CR who said they were going to take the boat to the Boardwalk to dinner :confused3

Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?
Fly

What the hey, I'll answer the questions, too. So excited!

So I take it you are going to surprise your kids? How are you going to do it? I want to surprise my nieces with a trip someday.

Yes, it's a surprise trip! I tried surprising them on their first trip, but I let the cat out of the bag about five months early. :rotfl: I'm not sure what we're going to do yet. We go the day after we get out of school, so I'm deciding whether or not to tell them that evening or just wait until we get to the airport.

And I didn't realize I'd missed all those questions!! Here are the rest of my answers...

What is your favorite place in WDW to have breakfast?
Crystal Palace for yummy food and getting into MK early or Chef Mickey's for that quintessential Disney character meal. Love the monorail running through!

In order, what are you favorite parks to see?
HS, MK, EP, AK...but I love them all darn near equally!

Do you have a PTL, PJ, or Pre-Dining Report?
I don't. I was planning to do one on our family blog, but my niece has figured out how to get to the blog without help, so I didn't want to ruin the surprise. ;)

Tell us about your favorite experience with a CM at WDW!
Our VIP tour guide was fantastic!! I realize she's paid to cater to us, but I really feel she went above and beyond after speaking with others who've done the tours. Our CL staff at Wilderness Lodge and the Poly on our most recent trip were also wonderful!!

What is your favorite snack in all of WDW?
Don't know if it counts as a snack, but the strawberry soup at 1900 PF is sooooo good!!! If that doesn't count, than a Dole Whip at the Poly to enjoy during Wishes from the beach. :goodvibes

What is the first ride/attraction you will go to in Epcot?
Probably Soarin' for FPs, then maybe over to MS

What is your favorite restaurant in DTD?
We've only ever eaten at McD's (now Pollo Campero) and EoS. Love Earl!!

What is you favorite viewing place for the following WDW events?:
1. Illuminations 2. Wishes 3. Dream Come True Parade
1. We don't stake out a spot, so wherever we can find a space. 2. By the snack cart in the hub, just before Main St. 3. Haven't caught this one yet.

That would be me! :lmao: I was hoping to lose another 10lbs, but I am just down 2.
We are all so pale and dd16 and I have freckles. We go through a TON of sunblock every summer. I hope all you May'ers are bringing your sunglasses! :lmao:

I'm right there with ya! I have a "moon tan" right now and don't see how I could work in any tanning bed time between now and the end of May. I might be able to sneak in a little relaxing in our pool before we go and at least knock the edge off my paleness. As far as the extra weight goes, I need to work on that area as well. I have a pudgy stomach right now and that's not good since our first portion of the vacation will be spent on a cruise and I plan to spend a good bit of that time in my bathing suit. :scared1:

I cannot believe I missed these questions. :confused3 Maybe I already answered, but I don't remember. :lmao:

What are you Celebrating?
Our anniversary is May 6th, but we are focusing on the girls' birthdays. DD8's is May 20th and since there is no way we would go in July, :scared1: we are also celebrating DD16's. Her's is July 8th!

Hello!! We (me, DH, DD14, DD11 and my mom) are going May 24 - June 5 and we are staying in the new Royal Rooms at POR. I can't wait!

Has anyone started a facebook page for people going during this time? I am in one from my trip last October and it's been great keeping up with everyone. (Maybe I should just create it already!!)

I love the question of the day - so here's my catch up:

What are you celebrating?
Both of my girls have just "graduated." My youngest from elementary school and my oldest from middle school. My oldest is also now in her last year of homeschooling before she'll go to public school for the first time for high school!

Are you a pin collector? No but my girls are. It leads to many many stops throughout the day!

What is your first full day plan?
I think that we'll be at Magic Kingdom. Not sure how that worked out as it is my girls' least favorite park (I know, blasphemy!). We are also having lunch at LTT for the first time.

The Crystal Palace. That puffed cinnamon french toast - I dream of it!

What is your #1 tip for first-time visitors?
Fist thing - use a Disney travel agent ;) Second - be at the parks BEFORE they open!

Will you drive, fly or take the train to WDW?
