****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Just got some amazing pixie dust!! We were originally staying at Pop our entire trip. I was talking about how I wanted to stay at CBR for one night just to see how it was (which was our original plan but it was too expensive). So my mom counted how much it would be again and then for fun put in how much it would cost if we stayed there our entire trip. It was only $300 more than we are paying for Pop!!! My mom called Disney and asked about it and apparently there was a discount that made it so cheap.

So, we are officially staying at CBR now!! We are thinking of doing 2 nights at Pop near the end of our trip just because Pop is our home but we couldn't pass up this opportunity. CBR looks sooo beautiful and my mom asked about getting a room close to the food court. The CM on the phone said that it was preferred but said he'd write it down and to ask for a free upgrade when we got to the hotel! It would be amazing to get upgraded to preferred, but we're just happy we get to stay in a moderate!

Anyway! Almost 3 months and we'll be there!! :yay:

Woo hoo! :cool1: What an awesome deal! We've stayed at the CBR many times and I'd recommend asking for a room in Jamaica or one of the non-preferred buildings in Martinique. Our walks from those locations to Old Port Royale were about 5 minutes. My mother is 78 and had no problems whatsoever walking around the resort.

I just posted tons of CBR pics on my trip report. Feel free to check them out.

I really would love Jamaica, that section just seems absolutely beautiful and I love the yellow!

Thanks! I will go check that out now!! :goodvibes

I don't think I've updated the first post yet to include the links to the pictures. They should be on the last two or three pages of the report.

I just booked parasailing. I'm already nervous. Yikes! I'm keeping it a complete secret from EVERYONE though. I'm just going to tell DH that we need to get over to the Contemporary and then surprise him with the tandem ride. Now we pray for good weather that day and that I don't throw up!

Sounds SOOO fun!!!! For our extras we are having DD take surf lessons at Typhoon Lagoon, DH is doing the new exotic driving experience, and I signed my DD and I up for the 5K EE challenge. i love to add extras but we are all extra'd out otherwise I'd be looking into more things!!! lol

I should be paying attention in my Statistics class right now, but decided to answer some of the "Question of the Day"s instead! Seeing as my upcoming trip is my first to WDW, most did not apply, but here are my answers to the others!

What are you Celebrating?

We are celebrating my college graduation and the husband's 26th birthday! The whole trip is a graduation gift from my parents! :woohoo:

Are you a pin collector?

We've become collectors in the last couple years. We “convert” all of our friends to pin trading too!

What is your first full day plan?

No plans as of yet! I'm still trying to figure out what park is best to hit on a Friday.

What Resort did you pick and why?

We are staying at Pop Century! My dad chose it for us. I told him I wanted to be on property, but didn't really care otherwise as we won't be spending much time at the resort anyways. I'm pretty excited about staying there though, so he did well! :cheer2:

What is your #1 Tip for 1st time visitors?

Don't have any because I am a 1st time visitor! Any tips would be much appreciated!

Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?

Flying! This will only be the second time on a plane for the husband. :confused:I love flying, so I'm stoked! :yay:

I have a question for everyone who has anti-shoppers in their families! (Anti-shopper = person who gets cranky and impatient when everyone else is shopping). I've got 2 in my group, one of them being my fiance, and I wanted to know if anyone had tips on how to make them happy/more patient. :lmao:

I will do the questions as I am new-ish to the group!

What are you Celebrating?

Celebrating DD8 finishing second grade!

Are you a pin collector?

We took a cruise last year and participated in a fish extender exchange and DD8 (DD7 at the time) got lots of pins to get us started on this next trip!

What is your first full day plan?

Magic Kingdom! Eating at Tony's for the first time ever too, I love trying new places

What Resort did you pick and why?

Saratoga Springs, we rent DVC points and this was what we could get on short notice, no complaints, stayed there before and we love it!

What is your #1 Tip for 1st time visitors?

Get to the parks at rope drop if it's a crowded time of year, makes all the difference!

Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?

Fly and use Magical Express

Just split up for a while. My husband rides the scary stuff that I don't want to ride while I shop. :) Win/Win!

I haven't answered the questions either, so here are mine!

What are you Celebrating?

My daughters birthdays!

Are you a pin collector?

The kids have always traded pins but this will be my first year doing it on my own!

What is your first full day plan?

swimming at the resort and Downtown Disney. First park day will be Epcot.

What Resort did you pick and why?

Pop Century. It's the only resort we've ever stayed at and we LOVE it! I don't think the kids would let us stay anywhere else even if we wanted to!

What is your #1 Tip for 1st time visitors?

I need to give a first time visitor more than one tip. That's just how I roll! lol!

Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?

Drive from northeast GA. Takes about 8 hours.

We will be at Tusker House for breakfast on the 4th! (I promise we aren't stalking you. :lmao:) Our ADR is for 8:05! Maybe we will see you there.

Terri

OMG how Cool! I love to meet Dissers.. don't feel shy about saying hello.. I will have my lime green backpack with my Dis button (gotta find that) and likely will have buttons on for our anniversary.. :goodvibes

I haven't answered the questions either, so here are mine too.....

What are you Celebrating?

My Hubs first trip, our belated Disneymoon/Anniversary, my belated 40th bday and my hubs early 30th bday

Are you a pin collector?

Not me but my kids were when they were little but this trip is just me and the Hubs

What is your first full day plan?

Well my Hubs will arrive mid day and we are heading to Hollywood studios for some Toy Story Mania and Fantasmic, then the next day our 1st full day will be spent in the MK starting with AM EE then a late Crystal Palace Breakfast and afternoon break then back for the 3pm parade, MSEP and hopefully the Wishes Dessert Party

What Resort did you pick and why?

I picked the Pop - we need value and I've stayed at the Pop a few other times and like that there is only one resort for the bus transportation.

What is your #1 Tip for 1st time visitors?

Make sure to take a daily swim/nap/rest break and don't try to see it all - just make plans for your next trip!

Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?

We fly - we live in Maine, would take 24-26 straight hrs of driving to get there - No thanks!

What is one interesting fact about Disney that you don't think other May Disers know?

In Liberty Square, look down at the main walkway (which is also the parade route). Instead of just plain cement, there's also an area a couple feet wide that goes all the way down the walkway and looks like a brownish/yellow gravel. In frontier times, the streets had a urine trough in them for the horse urine. The gravel area represents the urine trough.

I know it is gross! But just another way imagineers made it real!

I don't think I know anything that the peeps here don't already know, but I did like these factoids:

~ When Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park first opened its doors on October 1, 1971, adult admission cost $3.50. :rotfl:

~Walt Disney World Lost and Found is one busy place. Every day an average of 210 pairs of sunglasses are turned in and, since 1971, an estimated 1.65 million pairs of glasses have found their way into the “lost” bin. On an annual basis, Lost and Found cast members collect more than 6,000 cell phones, 3,500 digital cameras, 18,000 hats and 7,500 autograph books.

Not super interesting, but I had a manager that did the college program and he told me that the scent when you fly over the evergreens on Soarin' is the Yankee Candle scent, Mistletoe. I haven't been on the ride in a couple of trips (the line is always super long) so I haven't gotten a chance to see if it's true.

That's great news!!

Highly recommend Jamaica. That is usually the first stop for the buses (for most parks). The downside to this is that you'll have to wait for all the other stops, but the good news is you can always get a seat for your kids and since it's the first stop, you'll be dropped off first as well. Which is nice after a tiring day at the parks.

There's a "Disney smell" thread and people mention that it's the same. :)

If you accidently lose your PhotoPass card, don't lose hope!

We were at MNSSHP in 2009 and I accidently threw our PP card away! :scared1: All our photos of the party with us in costume (8 of us dressed up as the cast of "Hercules") as well as many photos on that particular card of our whole trip - I was in tears!

I went to guest services, trying to see if I could get backstage to go through the garbage, something, anything! They had me go across the street to the Exposition Hall/Camera Center.

The PP kiosks there were so busy but they took all the time needed. They asked me what was the approximate time of the last PP picture we had taken and they were able to scan back through tons of photos taken around that time frame until they found us. Then they were able to put almost all of our photos from that card on to a new one. :cloud9:

I was so relieved and so happy!!! :lovestruc :flower3:

Now I always immediately write down all the numbers on our various Disney cards and also take digital photos of the backs of the cards - I never want to go through that again.

Wooo hoooo!! Just payed off our reservation this morning about 2:30 in the morning. Now if I could just figure out how to build a time machine and make it the morning of May 5!
