Congrats on booking the trip! Sounds like you have a fun time planned already. Here's hoping all of the crowds work out in your favor. :wizard:

Do you know yet how you plan to surprise the kids? Are you waiting until the day of? We haven't told ours yet and it's killing me!:upsidedow My plan is to surprise them with the news a couple of weeks before so they can enjoy some of the anticipation, just not too soon though so when they find out they can be really REALLY excited since it won't be too far away. Fingers crossed I don't spill the beans before I plan to.

I notice in your sig you've been the last 2 years in May, and you said you usually leave right before Memorial day. What has your experience been like during those times (crowd and weather wise)? We'll be at Disney and Universal for a week with our last day in the parks on the Friday before Memorial Day (the 25th). We've only been to Disney in November with low crowds and great weather, so I'm a little nervous. Although, our trip to Universal was in June when it was 105 degrees. The crowds were quite low (pre-Grand-Opening @ WWoHP) and we survived just fine (hot & sweaty as all get out, but fine), so I know we'll have a good time no matter what, but it would be nice to have a clear idea of what to expect at Disney during that time period, if you don't mind sharing.

Thanks! :)

This will be our fifth trip (we've never surprised them before), and we are planning to keep quiet about it until we are in the car heading to WDW! I'm thinking we'll say we have to drive a long way for a Girl Scout ceremony (which IS true), then on the way maybe figure out a creative way to tell them. Not sure yet, though...

As for May, the crowds have always been moderate... some days/parks are worse than others. Let's put it this way. We've never, ever done rope drop, and I don't think we've ever waited more than 20 minutes to ride anything (including headliners.) Of course, we used the fastpass system to its fullest (including the now illegal way), so that might change it up some. Also, we've never been done parks on Memorial Day weekend. Well, I think we might have one Saturday, and it was VERY crowded, but it was like our last day there, so we'd already done everything. Also, touringplans crowd predictions for that weekend are higher than they were the last couple of years. I don't know why that is, but it worries me. But hey, I'm sure it will still be fun! :goodvibes

The weather has been hot the last couple of years, with the expected afternoon showers, but not total washouts. Also, not unbearably hot like in mid-summer. (But we live in Louisiana, so we are used to hot and humid. Of course, we still sweat like crazy, but at least we know what to expect.) With your dates, I'm sure you'll be just fine, but if you're early risers and you can do rope drop...even better. (That doesn't apply to my family, so we'll just be the sweaty ones baking every afternoon.) :rolleyes1

Hope you have a magical trip! :wizard:

I'm also looking for experiences during the Memorial Day timeframe. We'll be there at that time and I'm nervous about the crowds. Especially since the Saturday and Sunday before are MK days for us!

Here's hoping for great weather and crowds! :goodvibes

I'm not sure why, but touringplans crowd predictions are higher this Memorial Day weekend than they were the last two years. I would expect it to be very crowded, and plan accordingly.

We're probaby going to chill at the pool on that Saturday, then do Mickey's Backyard BBQ. Sunday, we'll be at Epcot for the Girl Scout ceremony.

I'd love to hear from people who spent Memorial Day weekend in the parks before. :flower3:

if it wasn't for February having that xtra day we would all be one day closer to Disney.

BOO February 29.

My fiance and I are not planning on getting any outside food... we don't eat much to begin with, so one table service, one quick service, and a snack a day seems like a lot to us. We also get refillable mugs. :confused3 I mean, we might get candy for the plane or something, but that's it.

In other news, I FINALLY found a way to purchase (non-vintage) postcards from Disney before actually getting there. DeliverEars (800) 362-4533. I just ordered 20 different kinds of postcards of the Disneyworld Cinderella castle, :cool1: it cost $4 more than it would have in Florida, but it's a weight off my back, so I'm fine with that.

Basically, I have a lot of friends who are massively (and lightheartedly) jealous about me going to the parks, so I wanted to get postcards early, and have them pick their favorite picture/card out. Then they write their mailing address on it, I add the stamps, and I take them to Disney with me. Then each day I write to several of them, and add a sticker of their favorite character, and they get a little piece of the magic. :tinker: They're all excited about getting their cards, and I'm excited about writing them comments about my trip and using the main street mailboxes in Magic Kingdom! :D

I just wanted to say you could always have their fave character autograph the postcard too? I bet your friends would love that

How FUN!! We are also going to be at Pop and will be doing the same parks on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th! :)
We lived in Bath for awhile (Maine is just gorgeous!!)

Oh Wow hope we bump into you... Thanks we love Maine too but the winters normally kill me but not this one - even with a storm heading in tomorrow we haven't even had 3 feet of snow - my yard has been mostly bare grass all winter this year!! Tuesday - Tutto Italia
Wednesday - O'Hana
Thursday - Biergarten
Friday - Royal Banquet Hall
Saturday - Sci-Fi Diner

I love garden grocer, we use them every trip, as long as you will eat in your room enough to use them (plus snacks and water) it is worth it in my opinion!

1. We used Garden Grocer last trip, really good service they provide. If we weren't on the DDP we would be using them again this trip. Can't recommend them enough.

That's it! Thanks! That's the one we plan to use... my husband is picky and will only eat certain brands. I know you can request them on gardengrocer but their prices are so high, I'd rather just pay one surcharge and get all that we need.

Thanks everyone! We are not on the dining plan, and will have a kitchen the first 4 days. I'm also having some not too serious medical issues, but enough that I have to eat a specific diet, so I think it will pay off. I will check out wegoshop as well, although I already "shopped" at gardengrocer and they have everything we want. I appreciate all the feedback!

Just got some amazing pixie dust!! We were originally staying at Pop our entire trip. I was talking about how I wanted to stay at CBR for one night just to see how it was (which was our original plan but it was too expensive). So my mom counted how much it would be again and then for fun put in how much it would cost if we stayed there our entire trip. It was only $300 more than we are paying for Pop!!! My mom called Disney and asked about it and apparently there was a discount that made it so cheap.

So, we are officially staying at CBR now!! We are thinking of doing 2 nights at Pop near the end of our trip just because Pop is our home but we couldn't pass up this opportunity. CBR looks sooo beautiful and my mom asked about getting a room close to the food court. The CM on the phone said that it was preferred but said he'd write it down and to ask for a free upgrade when we got to the hotel! It would be amazing to get upgraded to preferred, but we're just happy we get to stay in a moderate!

Anyway! Almost 3 months and we'll be there!! :yay:
