****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

So what's everybody's 1st day plans??

Wedding is the night before, so hopefully we can get some sleep and leave for the airport by 10am. Flight leaves at 1:05 and arrives at 3:20. We will head to Boardwalk, get organized, unpack, and most like SLEEP! Then we have a 7:30p Narcossees reservation for the first night of our Honeymoon :)

Then 10 more days in Disney!

We will be driving from West Palm Beach to Orlando on the 5th and to save some money, we opted to use some Hilton points for the night (since we will have the dining plan and it would be another nights stay added), so we are staying at the Hilton Bonnet Creek for the night and will meet some friends in DTD. We have 7PM reservations at Raglan Road.

The next morning we will check into POFQ and start at EPCOT, where we have 2:05 lunch ADR at Le Cellier

So what's everybody's 1st day plans??

Well we don't land until 8:00 Friday night, so by the time ME gets us to BC - we check in - head to room......it will be too late to enjoy a park. So we plan to grab a bite at either B&C or maybe just room service (I think Captains Grill will be closed by that time).

Early morning Saturday, the fun begins with our First Ever Star Wars Weekend!!

We arrive a little after 2:00. We'll arrive at AKV, check in and peruse the resort, let the kids swim, etc. Once the gparents arrive, we'll probably head over to DTD for a little bit, then back to AKV for a good night's sleep for the next day at AK!! Can't wait!

So what's everybody's 1st day plans??

Our flight lands at 845am so I'm hoping we will be at POFQ by 1030. Hoping our room is available so we can get settled in and then take boat over to DTD for some lunch. Not sure what we would be eating for lunch, but thinking maybe WPE based on previous posts?? Will check out their menu. If room isn't available, then we will check our carry-ons at bell services (after we change into our bathing suits) and go swimming. We'll just get something to eat at the food court.

These next few days should be fun for me since I've reached the point where I can start planning what clothes to pack. (I make this really intricate and detailed spreadsheet. :sad2::rotfl2:) Tomorrow, I'm using a gift card I've been holding on to to buy a few more outfits for the trip. :cool1:

I keep saying I'm done shopping, but then I end up buying "just one more thing". :rotfl: All I truly have left to get is snacks and breakfast items to mail a box down but will go to Walmart for that next week.

And I also have a detailed spreadsheet for our clothes. :rotfl:

Thanks everyone for the prayers... My grandma has beaten the odds! :dance3: She had a 30% survival rate, and made it anyway! We couldn't be more thrilled!

On top of that, I got MICKEY MAIL! :cheer2: I'm adding the luggage tags as soon as I'm done typing!

So happy about to hear about your grandma! Been thinking of you and your family.

And  for luggage tags!!

We will be staying at POR May 19-28.
Myself, DH, DD12, DD6, DS4
Its our 2nd time going, this time we are not telling the kids. They will be missing the last 4 days of school.:yay:

We will drive through the night and hopefully arrive around 11 am. Our first day is reserved for swimming and hanging out at the resort. The kids always want to swim but once we start going to parks there isn't much time for swimming. We'll also be going to DTD and will have dinner at Trex the first evening.

Our first day will be driving from Vero Beach to Saratoga Springs. My hope is to arrive by around 9am, but we'll see how early we end up waking up that morning.

We'll check in and try to head to MK for a couple of hours. I'm not expecting to do much since it's going to be crazy busy, but it is the consensus in the family to head there first thing.

We will probably try to leave around 3-ish and head back to SSR. I'm hoping for the room to be ready early so that we can drop some stuff off, but if not, no big deal.

Then, we are going to head to DTD for the evening. DD9 loves to wear crazy socks and she has been begging to go to LittleMissMatched for a really long time, so we are trekking to DTD while we are close so she can spend some of her hard-earned (:rolleyes1) souvenir money.

We land in MCO about 5pm, after a 9 hour flight. I'm hoping to be at CSR by 7pm (room or not), then we're going to bus over the DTD for dinner at Raglan Road at 8pm. We'll be feeling it as it'll feel 1am to us, but hopefully this will keep us awake until 10ish when we get back to the rooms so we're not up at 4am the next morning!

Our first real day will be Hollywood Studios followed by dinner at EPCOT.

Same flight and same resort for us, so we too will be exhausted but trying to stay awake.
Have planned dinner at WPE in DTD.

First full day will be the next day, which we're spending at Animal Kingdom

We also will be driving. ugggh I hate driving :headache: I can make it in about 10 1/2 hours but w/ the in laws following and stopping more than I like b/c of them and the kids it will be closer till 12 hours. DH just simply can't drive very long without falling asleep so I'll be doing 90% or so of the drive. DH and I are debating on leaving at 7pm or closer till 10 am. We get out kids (my steps) at 7 that night to start vacation so that's the earliest we can leave. I can hack going straight to the parks and since I'll be the one with the least amount of sleep it should be fine. The only issue with leaving at 7 and making it shortly after RD for SWW at DHS is that FIL will not visit the parks and does not have tickets and cannot check into WBC until 3 or 4. I just don't know what he will do during that time. Hopefully this weekend we can nail down the final plans for driving. I need the next month and a half to mentally prepare myself for it.

Regardless of when we arrive our first day plan are hit DHS for SWW and then turn in early (catch Hoopla and then leave) to make RD the next day. If we get there before noon we will probably break about the time to check in and return for an hour or two at DHS in the evening.

ok May peeps, I need help!

I was looking back over our days and our DHS date we have dinner at Akershus for 5:15pm. not sure what I was thinking when I made those reservations 120 days ago!

Should I move back the reservations to 6:55 instead? Mind you this will be a Sunday afternoon/evening and a SWW at DHS.

Is DHS a whole day park? Or would we be done by 2 or 3 anyway?

Ah, it depends who you ask. For us, we're done w/ a DHS tour by 2pm the latest. HOWEVER, if you can move your ADR to 6:55pm , its only going to give you more time to shift over to Epcot and you may need that extra time. I would rather be early and safe than sorry and miss my character dinner, u know?

I agree, it depends on what your planning to do at DHS. I have always split DHS with another park or done it on arrival day. Honestly, I'm glad to have set aside a day just for DHS this year. It can honestly go both ways depending on your touring style and what rides you are planing to do.

I've been following the Star Wars Weekend Tips thread. Be prepared for big crowds and long lines even for the non Star Wars rides. I'm getting concerned about even being in the park on a SWW day, but alas...our boys are fans! If it is really bad, we will just head back on a weekday to do some of our favorite rides/shows.

On a regular non event, non EMH day I don't think it would be unreasonable to be done by 2 or 3 pm.

Here is the link I have been following for SWW, lots of good info and ideas:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2791638

Hello everyone! Me and my DH will be visiting WDW from May 21-25. This will be his first time and I am really excited! We are hashing out canceling a previous off site hotel reservation and we will hopefully be staying at the All Star Movies resort.

To answer the question about what we are doing our first day- my DH rarely has a day off (literally he may have one day off a week) so he has requested we do nothing our first day. lol We do have reservations for dinner at Bongos in Downtown Disney in the evening though. I can't wait!

Welcome!!!

We will be doing nothing or first day as well! We have dinner reservations at raglan road, but we plan on exploring the resort and relaxing. Later on in the day we will browse a bit around DTD. I was a big fan of getting straight to a park but like your DH, I have decided I like to start my vacation with a little break from all the running around.

Our first day will just consist of going to DTD and relaxing by the pool. We like to do a bit of shopping and then head back to the resort to let the kids swim for awhile.:)

Our first day we'll get into MCO at 10 AM, so hopefully we'll be at ASMu no later than noon, then it's off to DHS for the day! I'm expecting crazy-ish crowds because of the EMH that night, but we're definitely going to need the EMH to get in everything that we want to see. I was just at DHS in December, so I'm fully prepared to skip stuff that I want so that DBF can see/do what he wants, since this is his first trip. :goodvibes

We're taking the redeye and landing at 9:35 am. We don't having anything hard and fast planned, but will probably hit DTD and then on to MK. We're going to try and live in the moment that first day, lol.
