Official May 2011 thread!

Hi there! This is my first post on here and I'm here to join the May 2011 group!!!:woohoo: My DH, DS1 (6) and DS2 (4) and I will be leaving on April 30th to meet my dad, stepmom, little sister (who all live in NY), older sister and BIL at Orange Lake Resort where my dad owns a timeshare. We are planning on visiting WDW while there...OF COURSE! I couldn't be more excited. I haven't been there for about 20+ years and my DH and DS's have never been there. My boys have NO idea. We are keeping it a secret until we get there. I can't wait to see their faces! Every time they see a Disney commercial they ask if they can go there someday.

I'm hoping to get a lot of fun tips for our trip! I'm all about saving money and having a good time!!!!!

Welcome!!! Your boys are gonna be so excited!!! Sounds like you guys are gonna have a wonderful family reunion!!!

I know it's a long time away but anyone out there going in May 2011?

I have my vacation set for the first week in May. it's my birthday gift to myself. can't wait! I told my friends if they wish to find me, I'll be in the parks!!:woohoo:

I'm in! Had booked room only several months ago ( with nary a pin code in sight :sad2:) but I took advantage of the new room discount promo, then added full tickets (10 days with hoppers and water parks), regular DDP, and still saved $500 off rack rates at CBR. Made the plane reservations yesterday and we are good to go!

Got the days figured out: April 29th through May 7th. May take the train down this year too. It goes overnight so we wouldn't lose any time.

Now the only wrinkle is that DH and I might be able to buy a house this year. I wasn't expecting that (he got a new job and a higher salary in December). So now we have to decide if we buy a house or go to Disney. Our lease is up in May so if we buy a house and move etc... we'll need to skip Disney (gasp). But there's always October. As much as I want a house I'm bummed because we would have been there for both Davy Jones and Paul Revere and the Raiders flower power concerts.

Well it's all up in the air now so we'll see.

We're going in May, the 8th - 14th!

It's 5 20somethings, one of whom is getting her first trip button!

We're staying at the BC and we're pretty much in countdown mode already!:woohoo:

How did I forget to check out the May 2011 thread? I've been on the Poly thread every day for months, esp since I booked Thanksgiving week-end!
This year's trip was postponed due to DD#2's surgery in April, so we are now going back to the Poly May 19-25, 2011!! Six adults, just like 2 years ago. It was THE most wonderful trip, celebrating my 10 year anniversary as a breast cancer survivor and DH's retirement. This trip is starting the day after 37th wedding anniversary! WooHoo!!
So now I'll be checking this thread every day now until we all head to the happiest place on earth!!

Hello again, everyone :) I've really enjoyed reading everyone's posts, especially the pre and post trip reports. Therefore, I've decided to try my hand at one too. The link should be in my signature if anyone's interested. I look forward to hearing about everyone else's plans also!

We will be there May 28 - June 3 staying at BCV in a 2 bedroom. It will be dh, my 3 youngest kids, dsil, her son and his wife. Looking forward to a mostly adults trip this year. We also are going to venture over to US and IOA for 2 days. Usually we stick with Disney but WWOHP is drawing us over there for a look see.

Well, I managed to convince DH for another Disney trip! We are going to Orlando 5/26 but will be checking out other attractions (hmmmm, can you guess??? :lmao:) so we'll be at Disney 5/28 - 6/3. It will be our first time at VWL and I'm pretty excited!!! I look forward to counting down with y'all!

I just checked one of my emails and I got a pin!!! This is so exciting!!! I have to change my dates by a week, but that's totally ok because I can save an extra $50!!! Now I'm debating on staying at POFQ @ $439 or ASMu/ASSports @ $231. What should I do? I can do either, but it definitely makes it easier to afford POFQ.

CHANGES CHANGES CHANGES :lmao:

I swear I need to make that my middle name

I've gone back and forth between driving and flying. Firt we wanted to fly then we wanted to drive well now we are DEFINATELY flying. I have a Chase Rewards debit card and I just booked 2 RT tickets from Dallas to Orlando nonstop on American for 84.14 total. It made the tickets 42 dollars and some change a piece. I don't have any rewards points left but hey I paid next to nothing for plane tickets

Is there anyone here not planning to park hop during their trip? I originally added the hopper and water parks, then changed my mind and took them both off and in turn added an extra day! I think it will work better for us to visit one park per day and just take our time. I've booked all our ADRs for the parks we will be visiting that day, and I'm looking forward to a relaxing but full trip. I just think we'd take up too much time getting from one park to another, and I'm afraid the Fastpass system won't work too well with us hopping. I may be wrong, so I'd love to hear your opinions on park hopping.

We have APs and we don't park hop. I'm in a wheelchair most of the trip and it would be to much of a hassle to park hop so we do one park per day. Plus for me its less stressful :).

We never park hop.. I always get daily tickets and if we go in the warm weather we add water parks.. I just plan my meals around the parks and enjoy.
