Official May 2011 thread!

Would anybody mind giving me some feedback on my planned schedule? This is our first trip as a family of 4. I tried to plan which parks we go to based in EMH. Thanks!
Wed (arrival day): flight arrives at 11am. Go to hotel( ASMuFS), check in and possibly grab something to eat (I may pack lunch to eat in case flight is delayed-not sure). Once we are settled we plan to go to MK for the afternoon/evening. We have ADR for dinner at Chef Mickeys and will be celebrating ds' 8th bday there. We plan to stay to watch the fireworks.
Thurs-MK again. We have ADR for lunch at LTT. Our plan is to leave MK before dinner and do dinner at our food court, and then relax with an evening swim.
Fri-Epcot. We will do lunch (hopefully) in one of the countries, and we have ADR at Garden Grill for dinner.
Sat-Hollywood Studios. The boys can't wait to visit Pizza Planet for lunch, and we have ADR at Sci Fi for dinner. We plan to sign up for Jedi training as soon as we get into the park!
Sun (last full day)-AK. We have ADR for breakfast at Tusker House. We plan to spend the day in AK, but leave in the afternoon for DDT. We are going to do some shopping (boys are dying to visit the lego store) and eat a casual dinner.
Mon (departure day)-Our flight is at 1, so we will probably just hang out and maybe take a quick swim.

I think your schedule is good! Just enjoy your time in each park and if you can't do something don't worry because that means you just have to come back! :)

Finished all of my ADRs. How do these sound?
Wed 25th - Ohana 6:25
Thurs 26th - Crystal Palace 8:05, Chef Mickey 5:30
Fri 27th - Teppan Edo 4:40 (Hoping for a later time on this one)
Sat 28th - Kona Cafe 6:35
Sun 29th - Boma 6:30
Mon 30th - Cape May 5:25
Tues 31 - 1900 Park Fare 6:10

No new places this trip. Still surprised I was able to get Ohana and Chef Mickey at good dining times.

My kids are going to be so excited. We are leaving on the 24th right after my DS6 gets out from his last day in school. Hopefully I can keep the secret til then... :yay:

I wouldn't be too excited about that Chef Mickey's ressie. Blech, other than that looks good. I'd take dinner at Kona or Ohana and fireworks from the beach at the Poly any day of the week over the mess that is Chef Mickey's. Terrible food, children running willy nilly all over the place, and they try to sell you a $30 picture package with a small statue of Mickey instead of the mouse himself. I didn't just hate it, I was OFFENDED. My 7 year old even hated it and said she'd never go there again.

Thanks for the feedback! You aren't the first person who has said that about dinner at Chef Mickey. But, it's my ds 8th birthday celebration and that's what he picked (given the choice of places to see fireworks from). We can suck it up for him!

Your plans sound good! The only big suggestion I would make is about following the EMHs each day. Sometimes, an EMH park can end up being more crowded than a non EMH park. You didn't say if your tickets were PHs so not sure if you can hop to a different park if it gets too crowded for you and the kids. I know the extra hours are nice, but visiting a park without EMH will often result in lower crowds which means more time to ride/see attractions. Just a suggestion b/c we found that with our 2 kids (who are similar in age to yours), avoiding EMH generally works better. Not to mention, the busses going to EMH parks in the morning are often way crowded, which can be a pain.

Our kids LOVE LOVE LOVE the Tusker House breakfast. It's a must do at each trip. And we also enjoy Chef Mickey's on most trips. I know a lot of people don't like the experience or the food, but our experiences with both have been fine. I know it isn't fine dining, but you do get the Fab 5!! BTW, you don't have to buy the photo package if you don't want it. But if it's a fantastic picture then you can choose to buy it--I like having the option! We've also done Garden Grill and enjoyed that meal because each of the characters came to our table multiple times during this meal. My kids loved that!

Hope my info helps :)

We do have PH passes. You have a good point about the EMH though. I'd have to change all of my ADR's. LOL

My DH and I are normally eat at Chef Mickey's a we loved it up until last year. The food was awful and the service terrible, but let's be honest.... we're not there for the food!!!!!!! You're eating with Mickey!!!!!!!! We won't be going back but I hope ya'll have a great time!

No need to necessarily change any ADR's...you can just PH to another park if it gets too busy :thumbsup2 or head back to the hotel for a nap or swim!

We arrive May 30th and leave June 4th.
We are staying at AKL and we are both very very excited!

I'll be there with my DBF from May 22nd- May 27th! (: It's his first time since he went as a kid so I'm very excited for him!

Long story short:

DF hasn't seen his sone since he was 5. Ex girlfriend refused to let him see him and for years he had no idea of where he was or how to contact him. His son was cleaning up at his mom's house one day and found a file that had his dad's name along with the words attorney general on it. He went looking through it and found that all the things he had been told over the years were nothing but lies. He went to confront his mom and she got upset and kicked him out and sent him to live with grandma. He gets to grandma's house and his uncle gave him his dad's number and told him to call his dad that he was expecting to hear from him.

So, its been a week as of tomorrow that they have been talking on a daily basis. We are preparing the house for him to move in beginning of February. He said he's not happy where he is and asked if he could live here. We discussed it and agreed that it was fine.

DF was talking to him the other night and asked if he had ever been to Disney and told him we are going in May. When he said no DF asked if he would like to go along and try it out. He said yes, so I booked his plane ticket. Now I need to call member services at DVC and add him to the reservation and get his park ticket.

Here's to a new beginning for DF and his son.

Probably May 1 through 7th at CS or SofG.

Sunday - California Grille @ 7:45
Monday - Animal Kingdom
Tuesday - Hollywood Studios, Hollywood & Vine @ 4:00 (Fantasmic Package)
Wednesday - Magic Kingdom, Crystal Palace @ 8:20
Thursday - ????
Friday - Water Park? Chef Mickey's @ 9:45

Wow, that's a magical Disney story in the making!
But what's a DF?

I just started my first ever pre-trip report :) If anyone is interested in following, the link is in my siggy.

Heading down May 24th to June 2nd! So excited! We are staying at Coronado, and planning on taking it slow and giving each park at least 2 days. We were rushed through everything on our last trip, and it will be nice to slow down and experience everything. It will be a bit harder this time without my parents there for backup with the 5 kids, but we'll manage!
