Official May 2009 Thread....The wait is on!!

Congratulations! MY DD would be jealous... she was accepted for this past Jan and had to turn it down at the last minute. We found out she would not be considered a full time student and her health insurance would laspe. She is so excited about going to play at WDW but is still upset that she missed out on the opportunity.

Have fun!! I know it will be a great experience...

I can't beleive how close it is now! I have got to start planning on what to pack, what to buy etc., How many swim suits for a week stay? Staying at the CBR and will probabloy use the pool a lot. I was thinking 2 swim suits. Also-do you take your own towels to the water park?

Sorry, forgot to mention - I take two swimsuits also. Sometimes, if yoiu only have one, it doesn't get good and dry due to the humidity in Florida and I hate putting on a damp swimsuit.

Went shopping this morning to yes, buy vacation clothes! Looked for a swimsuit and (1) got stickershock ($96.00!) and (2) realized I would have to get undressed to try it on! Hung it back on the rack and will go back later when I am in the mood! Bought stuff I didn't have to try on! Wahooo!:cool1:

We will be there May 2-9. We are staying at the GF SL. We can't wait. It is a total surprise to my DS(7). We will pick him up at school and head to the airport. He will be so excited!

WOoooooh I've got 22 days.....But I found out today that Im goin to be workign at disney AUG. 26th thru Jan 8th! YAY

Congrats!! My DDs are too young now but I hope that they will be able to do that someday. When we went to the World last year we talked to a College Program student on the bus to Epcot. He was giving oldest DD pointers on how to get hired. He was from TX and LOVED what he was doing. He was soo nice. He had just gotten off of his shift and was going to Epcot to play. We ran into him in the park a couple of times that afternoon and he gave our 2 DDs pins.

How fun!! Our last 2 trips were surprise trips for our DDs...the looks on their faces when we told them where we were going was priceless!!

I can't believe I missed this board the whole time I've been on the Dis...
We leave in 17 days!!! Let the packing begin!

May 6-13
ASMu Family Suites

We leave May 6th from Denver for WDW till the 12th. We are celebrating DD's 5th b/day there. Last year, she got surgery on her leg for her 4th b/day so we are celebrating LARGE to compensate. :)

I'm here because I'm overwhelmed. I've never been to WDW and I have already planned some dinners (made res.), have a character dinner for DD's b/day with Cinderella, but now I have two issues. I need help with maneuvering around the park (a park daytime strategy) and I still have not bought my park tickets. We are staying off-site (not my choice, I wanted to stay on the park premises).

Where will I get the best ticket deals? Still can't decide on park hopper or not and I think we want one day at a water park, is it worth it?

I'd suggest that for your first trip, you not bother with the park-hopper option or the water parks and more (although I DO think you should do a waterpark day - just pay for it separately). You can use up a lot of valuable park time moving from one park to another and I think on your first trip it works better to concentrate on getting the most out of one park per day.

In terms of a touring plan, the most helpful part is to look at some websites and plan a route that will take you to the rides you are most interested in. The second best tip is arriving at park opening (or before!). And the third is to use fast passes! Use your best "runner" to go and collect the fastpasses for you while the slower members of the family head towards the next ride or have a pit stop. Remember you can usually use fastpasses after the time they expire.

ohhh thats my birthday! Thanks for the info. I was there in November and saw the night launch at Downtown Disney. Now I know I'll be at Epcot when this shuttle is launched. Is there a good place in Epcot to see it?:confused3 Thanks!

Not sure about epcot, when you get there, ask a CM which way east is, and look that way! :) I usually don't go too far when it goes up due to the traffic here, it gets CRAZY!!! I work at a bank off US1 right across the river from where it goes up, and it's going up during the middle of the day, so it's gonna be packed!! Hopefully it clears up by the time I go home! :) But, it's neat watching it from this close...you not only see it, but you "feel" it....awesome!!! Never gets old!!! Happy birthday to you!!!! :cheer2:

I always take one swim suit, but we don't go to the pool but a couple of times while we are there. Last year we acutally went to the new Walmart off Turkey Lake Road and bought some large towels to take to the water park with us. The water parks charge $1 to rent a towel and $5-7 to rent a locker.

It's getting SO close to my 8 days in WDW staying at POP.
May 9 - 17 just me and a good friend, easy traveling :cool1:

I found it! Now, what do I do with the beautiful pictures? Do they print out smaller or do you make them smaller and print them on labels? I'm sorry I'm so dumb I just don't know what to do with them and they are awesome!

I believe that she has made the labels to fit either the small Mini M&M tubes or the big ones. If they still aren't the size you need, you can put them on a word doc and try and re size them that way. If you ask on that thread you will get a more specific answer.

We will be at CBR 5/31-6/4 for our first Disney vacation! We'll drive from Iowa to Memphis to Mobile to Panama City Beach then Disney. After Disney we'll stay in Orlando and check out Seaworld then start our journey back to Iowa. Not sure about the stops home yet. :cool1::yay::woohoo:

Welcome to the Dis and to the May thread (one of them anyway :rotfl:)!! Awww your poor DD. Hope her leg is all better now. Perfect way to make it up to her.

If you are one to go to a park and then leave for a rest I'd say get a hopper because you may want to go back to a different park in the evening. If not just go with the basic ticket. As another person said on a first trip there will be so much for you to do in one park you won't need to hop. The logistics of hopping can be overwhelming in itself for first timers. I'll pm you a list of reputable ticket places for you to check.

Moving around the park - Get there early and go to a park that is NOT emh morning at that park since you are staying offsite. A decent rule of thumb is also to hit the park that emh evening was at the night before.
