Official May 17th Alaska Cruise Thread!

Hey Liz, any room updates?:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Haha no room yet - they released some 11C for about 2 hours, and now there are 3 yucky location 10C available.
Still have OGT available. I am thinking/hoping that we might get an outside room if there are tons available.
I have checked approximately 30 times today for my room number. LOL.
I do have a life - just my work is done online, so I am able to check... lol

I bet you've memorized your reservation number by now! :rotfl2:

Oh I memorized that within 2 hours of getting it! LOL

Funny thing is - meg wanted a hint about her present, so I told her to decode this number 2420#### (the res number).
She had the phone out and was trying to match letters to the numbers and thought it really was a code I made up -she is still trying to 'decode' it. LOL

MontanaDJ, Magicmaginear, Ajojo, and dfsc,

How do you feel about having brunch in the private dining room inside Palo on our first full day at sea, May 18th? I hope you love the idea because, after much follow up and faxing/emailing information as it was requested, I received the following via e-mail today:

"Good Morning.

I was able to confirm your party of 13 adults in the Palo Private Room as follows: Wednesday, May 18th, 2011 at 10:30am"

WOO HOO :cheer2:

This is great news!! So, no jeans....I guess I will have to come up with an outfit!

Thanks so much Dreams for all your work! I really just figured I would miss the chance at Palo this trip.

Has everyone decided on their shore excursions or port activities?

This is my second Alaska cruise and with all my work lately, I have not decided. I want to zip but haven't figured out which port to do that yet. I also have been looking in Skagway at doing one of the bike tours. My sister thinks I should also include a kayak tour.

Do ya'll think it will be too cold to do an outdoor intensive activity while at the ports?

Ajojo

For those arriving in Vancouver on Monday, what transportation are you using from your hotel to the port?

Also, what are people using for return transfers from the cruise terminal to the airport?

While I am sure it is the easiest, we were looking at different options other than the Disney transfer packages.

Look forward to everyone's thoughts!

-Eric

Staying at the hampton inn using their shuttle to and from airport. Using DCL shuttle to take advantage of the luggage handling.

That's really funny... it's awesome how she has no idea that she's even going on a cruise in 18 days!

On the day of, you should drop hints using the word "wonder" when telling her. "Meg, I'm sure you are WONDERing what your WONDERful surprise is? Well, you don't have to WONDER anymore."

Have a question,....does anyone out there play bridge or pinochle...trying to think of things for my fil to do....

When my dad went with us on an Alaskan cruise he really enjoyed just sitting at a window at the front of the ship watching everything go by. The nice thing about the inside passage is that there is almost always something to look at except the last sea day. Make sure he brings a pair of binoculors.

I read that there's a washer & dryer on the Dream. Does anyone know if this is available on the Wonder?

She is on her way!!!
I would love to go down to Vancouver on May 3rd - but wondering if there will be any fanfare or not? I am guessing probably not.

Oh and in case everyone is waiting for my stateroom update (hahaha) - they have put 11B back up with a bunch of deck 6 cabins.
I would be totally fine with one of these - I would rather have an 11B deck 6 than a 10C deck 1 or 2!!! We had an 11B before and loved it. I don't care about the split bath.
I just want a room!

For those who received a book for the cruise from DCL, what was in it? I still haven't gotten anything for the cruise in the mail.

You will get it by fedex most likely.
Its got your luggage tags and 'stuff you should know' - pretty much everything on the website - like what id to bring, when to show up, what to pack, etc...

I am off to buy FE stuff now - going to round it up to 50 people.
I am wrapping up each 'part' of the gifts separtely, and then putting it all in a box - going to have Meg open it -she is going to think she is getting this stuff for her birthday -then at the bottom a printed out list of the FE people (nick get on that! lol).
She will figure it out pretty quick - especially when she sees tags that say 'From Liz & Megan aka "Lollipops Mom"' on them. LOL.
Then she will have to help me assemble them all next week! lol

According to the weather report, the 1st cruise will have rain for the entire week111  I hope we have better weather then that. I feel sorry for everyone on that trip.
