Haven - we'll be there at the same time! LOL!

Haven't read farther, but you can print your boarding passes out from home, or at check in. Indy has curbside check in for your bags, then you can park your car and shuttle back in with your carry on, strollers, etc. I typically drop everyone off at curbside check in and then park myself so they don't have to walk as far.

We fly out on the 19th - how about you?

We are flying out on the 17th..I took my dd out of school a few days earlier than her actual spring break but found that the airfare was cheaper that way! We fly back the 24th. Thanks for the info! I appreciate it.

We're driving down as we have the past two trips, which I thought I would hate since I'm the only driver. Turned out pretty well though. This time we will start something my son and I are calling the "Pedro Project" to add a little interest to the car trip. We're documenting every South of the Border sign we pass along the way coming and going as we've both developed what some might call an unhealthy obsession with Pedro (Pedro's Weather Report: Chili Today, Hot Tamale....priceless, just priceless).

Anyway, we arrive March 7th and depart March 13th. I've already started packing (though I'm starting to rethink the ratio of shorts to pants given the weather lately). Just ten and a half more work days to go!!!

Hey neighbor! We are going to be there the same time you are (5-14). we are flying out of National, though. You are a braver soul than I. My husband goes insane after 6 hours in the car. Where are you staying?

So, we're down to 12 days... unfortunately, my father in law is very ill, and not expected to make it... Not sure how that's going to affect our trip.

I hope you find comfort in the fact that people you don't know and may never meet are thinking of you and your family during this hard time. I lost my mom the week before Christmas so I understand having to juggle grief and anticipation at the same time. You have my sympathy.

Thank you all so much, that means a lot. My SO just lost his mom in September, so it's been a difficult few months. Hopefully getting out of the city and to a place where Mickey walks around will do us a lot of good.

I am so sorry for your loss and agree with the other posters - we are all thinking of you and your family. We aren't strangers on the DIS, just friends who haven't met before

It sounds like you are going to go to WDW as planned. I think that is a good idea (although whatever your family needs to do is the right thing!!). Take some time and celebrate his life and enjoy the family members that you will be with - THAT is what is important. Enjoy your time now because you never know how long that will be. And what better way than at Disney World.

I got some tea, coffee filters, 2 pairs goggles for the kids and did up our mousekeeping envelopes complete with the tips!!

wow, at this rate I will be ready by next week.....then what will i do?

What is the custom with mousekeeping? We stay in DVC, which doesn't have daily trash and towel service. We make our own beds and hang up our towels. We can one day of trash/towel service mid week when they change out the towles, empty the trash and change the beds. How much is the correct amount to leave?

3 weeks from today we start the long drive to Disney!!!!

Us too!! Our drive is about 14 hours. We were planning a midnight departure but hubby is now thinking about leaving about 10pm instead. He will drive all night then I'll take over after daylight. I hate driving at night but he doesn't mind it. I guess we make a good pair!

I think that's a big debate among the DVC crowd. Like you, we do our own cleaning (including washing towels) and even take out our own trash. At the end of the trip, I have everyone strip their own linens and pile them all in the master bathtub. We try to leave everything as clean as we can so that mousekeeping has to do as little as possible to get the villa ready for the next occupant. Since we do all this, we do not tip. There are some who disagree with us. I'm comfortable with that.

Oh roomthreeseventeen, I'm so sorry for your loss. We are definitely just friends who haven't met, and we all are offering our love and support. You can always count in DIS members. I wouldn't be surprised if you discovered signs of him along for the ride during your trip. We definitely had that experience when my father passed away. I think spirits "hang out" with us for a little bit before their journey to heaven. So many friends of mine and me have had that experience after a loss.

I think I'll make up a mousekeeping envelope, but offer a bit less than would be offered at a full service hotel.

I love the Pedro project. On one of our driving trips, I had my husband stop at South of the Border, just to take a pic of me with Pedro. If I find it, I'll post. That place is so cheesey! We stayed there when I was a kid on my way to Disney with my parents in the 70's!

It is a long drive from suburban northern VA. When we fly, we fly out of Dulles which is 10 minutes away, but this time we hit the road. We usually leave first thing in the morning, and drive til we get to Kingsland, GA where we stay overnight and set out again in the morning. We have done it (road trip style--non-stop) and I prefer not to. The driving time not counting stops is supposed to be 14 hours. However, on our last trip, my son was sick and throwing up every 20 minutes. He and my husband thought it would be much better if we drove straight through to home rather than be sensible and stop someplace over night and get a good nights sleep and set out again fresh in the morning. With all our stops at Wal-Marts (fresh clothes, food) and state rest stops, it took us 21 hours to get home. I'd much rather have stopped. Unless the older kids are driving, I don't like to drive at night. The kids, they can stay up and be wide awake in the middle of the night.. not me! I'm too old for that!
