*OFFICIAL MARCH 2010 THREAD* - Lets countdown together!

It's been snowing all day here, cold and cloudy. Ick.

But I've been listening to Live365, and saying to myself....

18 days to go.

Just 18 short days.

Hoot!

LeahA, it'll go by so fast, you'll be basking in Florida sunshine before you know it!

Is anyone doing online checkin at 10 day marker? I have been reading all kind of mixed reviews on it.

I am planning on doing the on-line check in on 2/26...I figure it can't hurt anything...did you do the personalized maps for the parks? I am waiting for them to arrive in the mail. I don't think they'll be a huge help...I have everything so organized I won't "need" them, but think they'll be a cute keepsake.

What kind of negative things did you see about online check in?

We did get the maps, they are a nice keepsake. I have a passporter I am going to take with us.

Cons I have read which may have no real truth behing them but I have no experience with it:
1. it may wipe out your room request on your reservation
2. It is harder to change the room location if it is not want you wanted
3. When you check in the online checkin line is longer than non-online checkin

But then I read..
1. It doesn't matter b/c rooms are pre-assigned days in advance
2. Various experiences- good and bad, by the same people

So at the end of the day I think it is like anything else in life- unpredictable.

I just need to decide soon if I want to do it or not. I would like to check it off my "to do list" LOL!

We are stayiing at CSR and I really would like to be close to the dig site pool. I added a basic "Cabana's" section, but I have no idea what we will really like until we get there.

Are you going to fax in your room request?

I'm now having second thoughts. We are bringing my 83 yo mom. This will be her first trip since 1975. WDW is a little different now. She is very excited to go, but won't do anything to help herself. We will be taking a scooter for her, but she doesn't wnat to use it, but she says she can't walk from the parking lot to the resort. Her negativity is starting to get me down, and I'm afraid that this trip will take away the magic for me.
I know I must sound pittiful, I really want Mom to enjoy herself. DH and I decided when we planned this trip that it was all for her, not our trip this time. Maybe we will appreciate our just us trips more after this. We have a pretty busy schedule, 3 TS meals, and 3 parks in 3 days. I think she'll sleep for a week after we get home.
Has anyone ever done this, any hint on how to make the best of all situations? Or just keep happy thoughts for us.
Thanks
You will be relieved to hear Been THERE Done THAT from me. Our last trip was this past July and we brought my 75 year old mother-in-law for her first trip to WDW since January 1972!! They were one of the first families to stay at the Contemporary. She flew in from Texas and met us there, and she brought our 10 year old niece with her. We told her she'd need a scooter, but she insisted that she was doing very well and would be fine walking. So we saved the phone numbers of 3 scooter rental places into DH's cell phone. On the second day, she let us order her a scooter. They brought it right to our resort (SSR). It was expensive. I think we paid like $400 something dollars for the week, but it was worth it. She could not have lasted without it. It was very important to us that she enjoy herself. Some of the things we thought she'd enjoy, she did not. However, she loved Soarin' so much she wanted to go back during extra magic hours for another ride. She also loved Toy Story Mania, and since she was in a scooter, we got to short cut a good portion of the wait time as we couldn't go up the staircase inside. We had to keep in mind that loud places were a problem as she wears a hearing aid. We ate at T-Rex, which, really was hard for her with the noise. Probably not our best choice. Jolly glad that her "happy camper" status could easily be restored with a gin & tonic from Rose & Crown. :drinking1

Just keep in mind her limitations and work around them. She probably would appreciate an early bedtime and that would then give you some "us" time. A few times I recall we brought mom back to rest and we took the kids out ourselves. Maybe if you can having her watch the planning video, she might get some ideas on shows or rides she'd really like to experience. Good luck!

$400??? That seems awfully steep. We ordered one for my mother and it is about $200 for the week. I think my dad ordered it from Walker Mobility, as recommended on the DISabilities forum.

So we surprised the kids with the trip on Valentine's Day! Made them do a scavenger hunt. Then they got a box to unwrap together with some Valentine candy (for now) M & M tube with pennies and quarters for pressed pennies, mentos (tube for the eventual pressed pennies) and their gift card. The 13 year old DD was excited the 16 year old just wanted to make sure we weren't going in the summer because she has a trip with youth group and summer camp for scouts and a trip with a friend. She is bummed she misses her BF birthday but I said I made the ressie before she had a BF (Aug). They had no clue which is something I worried about. Now I don't have to log into the dis so often my youngest tells me every morning how many more days.

Now to buy all the little things I've heard about on here like lanyard holders etc. I won't have to keep them hidden. Need to start some of those lists packing, buying, to do...

On another note, the ultrasound on my gall bladder shows stones. (Maybe that's why I have rock hard abs under all the fluff! :rotfl2: I have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday morning. Hoping to have it done on Monday to give me almost 4 weeks to recover.

RitaFaye, my mom just had 3 gall stones out in January. She is 64.. and bounced back very qucikly.. which I was suprised at as she is usually someone that the unusal happens too and doesnt heal great! But she was up and around right away and back to her old self. She is still having a few issues where she cant eat certain greasy foods. But she shouldnt eat that anyway. She is also headed to WDW with us.

Hope yours goes as smoothly as my DM!:thumbsup2

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was the cost... but I better make DH double check tonight. We used Buena Vista Scooter rental, but Walker Mobility was one of the 3 rental places we out in DH's phone. He dialed the first one, BV and they had one, so he didn't call around. I do need to double check that price.

11 days

I am going nuts here it is freezing and we just got hit with a ton of snow AGAIN!

Weather gods be nice! Bring on the SUNSHINE!

Ok folks, guess my husband told me wrong. I went and checked my Disney VISA bill and the charge for Buena Vista Scooter Rental for the week was $213.00, not $400!! Whewww... glad we weren't over charged!! :woohoo: Now.. while I was there... I spotted a late fee a few months back that he didn't mention..:rolleyes1

By the way, speaking of Visa.... we have a Chase Disney Visa and we get Disney reward dollars that we use toward park tickets of in-park spending. The reward $$ are good in the parks, resorts, Disney Store, Disney.com etc. Its a great deal for the Disney

I just got this card this year and I am so happy to have some extra spending $!

Okay..I am obsessing (once again) about my ADR's. Our flight on our last day leaves at 7:30pm and we are taking ME to the airport, which I read will leave about 3 hours before our flight leaves. I have a 10:05 breakfast ressie at Chef Mickey's as of right now. We have a two other character meals set up already, so maybe this would be overkill?? Now I am thinking that maybe a 10:45 am or 11 am ADR for a late breakfast would be better somewhere else. I don't want to rush getting over to eat, since we will have to be packed, check-out, check our bags, etc. before we head out.(staying at ASMu) We plan to spend what time we have left at MK. I have heard wonderful reviews of Kona for breakfast. Does anyone have any input on this? Has anyone eaten at Chef Mickey's and really enjoyed it? Or Kona's? I wonder how late they serve breakfast. :confused3 Why worry when you can obsess, right!? :sad2:

I got Mickey Mail, whoo!!!! I received the ME information for my little brother and me! I'm so excited! :cool1:
