*OFFICIAL MARCH 2010 THREAD* - Lets countdown together!

You are not alone. ;) DH got a kick out of this post because I am TOTALLY the same way. :rolleyes1

I'm so glad I have a place like this to come to. Makes me feel just a little bit sane. I need that when my family thinks I'm losing it... :rotfl2:

I'm now having second thoughts. We are bringing my 83 yo mom. This will be her first trip since 1975. WDW is a little different now. She is very excited to go, but won't do anything to help herself. We will be taking a scooter for her, but she doesn't wnat to use it, but she says she can't walk from the parking lot to the resort. Her negativity is starting to get me down, and I'm afraid that this trip will take away the magic for me.
I know I must sound pittiful, I really want Mom to enjoy herself. DH and I decided when we planned this trip that it was all for her, not our trip this time. Maybe we will appreciate our just us trips more after this. We have a pretty busy schedule, 3 TS meals, and 3 parks in 3 days. I think she'll sleep for a week after we get home.
Has anyone ever done this, any hint on how to make the best of all situations? Or just keep happy thoughts for us.
Thanks

I just found out that my DW has planned a, to me, surprise trip in March!!!! I am so totally excited.

I have been working away from home for about seven months now working jobs that unfortunately are outside my home state.

I can not think of a better home coming then a trip with the whole family then a week at Disney!

So this is in honor of my DW!

let the count down begin!!!!

Hope everything goes well but I've learned one thing from experience.

Never invite family! Friends are OK as they are grateful and realise they need your space, but family... :sad2:

I don't envy you. I went with my MIL last year, who is also kind of a negative person. I think you are going in with the right attitude, that this is her trip. It will be slower-paced, and you probably wont get a lot done, but those kinds of trip can still be fun. She'll probably be glad to use the scooter once she realizes how huge it is, and how much walking is required. Just remember to pack your patience, and keep in the back of your mind that you and your hubby can always come back in the future!

I haven't even started making my shirts!! AHHHHHHH I ordered DH's tees online and they haven't come in yet. I so wish I married a normal size man DH is 6'5 and well shirts from Walmart would so not work. I haven't gotten anything together at all. I so need to get on top of things. Its going to be March 10th before i know it.
I bought a shirt at Walmart, but haven't tried it on yet since my husband accidentally left it in his truck so it's sitting at his work now. :lmao: Hopefully it will fit me right! I'm still waiting on my dyes to come in ... half of which are being held hostage by Ebay ...

You will be busy. Your 17 days is going to fly by! :cool1: Hope you get everything done. I attempted Tye Dye before... it didn't work out to well... I never thought you could mess up Tye Dye, but I proved that it can be done.
I'm hoping I won't mess mine up! :lmao: And I don't know what happened, but suddenly the trip seems that much closer.

March 13th-20th at Fort Wilderness campground. I hope the weather warms up in time! Its our first time camping at Disney and we all are really looking forward to it. We've been three times in the last 2 years and it was time for something slower and less commando. I think this will be good! :thumbsup2

Are you camping in a tent? My family will be camping in a tent from the 9th-16th. Maybe we will see you there. :goodvibes

That is amazing! Love Family time in Disney:yay:

So we use to take my Grandmother who was the same age. She didn't want to loose her independence. She tried to walk the entire park and after about an hour she realized it was too much. Well my uncle went and got her a wheelchair Long story short she loved it because it would get her on the rides faster LOL and she the CM's gave her special attention. She also liked that the kids wanted to sit with her. Her mood changed quickly as she could focus on what was going on around her she didn't have to worry about keeping up with the family.

Don't let it ruin your trip and good luck:flower3:

Oh my God I do too.... I really am turning into a fully fledged, overplanning, Type 1 DiSboarder:scared1:

I too am the same way :thumbsup2, I was deperately trying very hard not to be but it is really hard. I have my kids and myself all in piles on the floor in our bedroom (DH can fend for himself :rotfl:). Just went shopping over the weekend for the girls and myself, and then I went back out yesterday and bought another outfit for myself. You know your DD8 is growing up when she helps you pick out outfits that are "cool" :sad2: And the funny thing is, she did a really good job at it too :goodvibes

I have 2 suitcases packed with stuff we have bought for the trip! I think we are done actually buying things. Now all we have left to do is pack our clothes a few days beforehand.
We got in some good Disney Store sales and got each of our kids a t shirt and a plush so they can spend thier soviner money on other things!

OK - I've now been called out for my planning by DD16. She Says...

"Mom - you plan Disney. Give me a packing list and a spreadsheet and I'll go."

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

On another note, the ultrasound on my gall bladder shows stones. (Maybe that's why I have rock hard abs under all the fluff! :rotfl2: I have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday morning. Hoping to have it done on Monday to give me almost 4 weeks to recover.

Your park tickets will be on your room key. You won't need to worry about anything. Just do your initial plan, of going to one park per day, and you'll be fine. It will be documented how many you've used and how many are remaining via your room key.

Also, now that you've got your luggage tags, watch for your booklet of vouchers too. It'll be a big blue envelope with the castle in the clouds, and a bunch of balloons on it.

HTH

THANK YOU!! :goodvibes

Well you guys got me packing. Well atleast deciding what to pack LOL. I went through my giant toiletry bag to see what I had in there and packed a much smaller one since its just DH and I. I feel as though I don't have to do too much this trip since we are not taking the kids.

You know whats sad. I've started looking for things for my Dec trip. We decided a few years ago that Christmas at home was way too stressful so now we go to WDW. Plus my kids have more toys and gadgets then they know what to do with so we now go away and they get a stocking full of little things. So I am pick up really cool small things all year round. So I was lookimg at cool handmade jewlery for my girls. I really should be making my shirts though!!

I really want to pack, but with the temperatures in Orlando fluctuating week to week from the low 50s to the low 80s, I just can't. :rotfl:

Keep in your mind that (as you said) this trip is all about your Mom and you will be able to enjoy yourselves. If you have a pretty hectic schedule planned, be open to any last minute changes that may take place. It's not worth it if you are all miserable because you are trying to stay on a schedule. That happened to us once and I vowed would never happen again. We are taking my 76yo Mom with us and have rented her a scooter. She's not keen on using it, but she NEEDS it. The last time she came with us we had a scooter for her, but she was terrified to drive it onto the bus, so my Dad had to do it for her. However, it was a lifesaver. She would have been stuck in the room the whole time without it.

Good luck -- I hope you all have a wonderful time.

Is anyone doing online checkin at 10 day marker? I have been reading all kind of mixed reviews on it.
