We are booked Wyndham Bonnet Creek June 23-30! June was not my choice as we have previously tried to avoid heat/crowds, but my inlaws are going and are supplying the timeshare and discount military tix so we will make do. We will have 6 full days (Sunday - Friday) in FL and 5-day WDW park hoppers. Previously we've done Sea World or Disney Springs on our "off" day (Wednesday) but I am toying with Universal this time if budget ends up allowing, as our kids will be 11 and 12 and have never been. Not sure if 1 day at Universal is worth it and/or if we will be dying of exhaustion trying to cram in another park... but I'm thinking about it. We could also give up our second MK day instead but I don't know if I want to do that either.

Great choice of dates We have the same schedule, 5 park days, 1 day off because of the military 5 day park tickets. Instead of heading to a different location on our day off we are doing a pool day at our resort. Mama <me> needs to relax at least one day on her week off from work!!!

Hey everyone! I just booked our family vacation for June 2018. It will be myself, DH, DS(5), and both of my parents. We’ll be there 6/5-6/15 and staying at Pop Century. Fingers crossed for Toy Story Land to be open!

Our dates are 3rd-9th at Pop as well. We stayed there this Thanksgving in one of the new rooms in the 90's section and loved it. The rooms are layed out so well and super cute. It was also quite over there in the 90's. Can't wait to be back there. Also sooooo hoping TS Land will be open by then!

Oh that is where I stayed in October! Love that section and the quick walk to AoA-we went over there for breakfast most days, and did the drawing class one day as well! Never saw anyone in the pool even though it was HOT in early October

I wouldn't skip a rest day or a Magic Kingdom day, you could end up exhausting yourself very easily, just my 2c though.

Don't underestimate how tired the heat will make you feel. I like June as it is hot, but not August surface-of-the-sun hot yet. I'd recommend rest day, with maybe dinner later in Disney Springs. We did 7 days in 2014 with one of those a beach day, and boy am I glad we decided on a rest day, with another one 1/2 water park/1/2 MK day. The kids STILL talk about pool days as the "best" days.

Interesting... We've traveled to Disney in June numerous times (7 times in the last 13 years) and we found our June 2016 trip to be one of the more bearable ones as far as heat & humidity. We were there the week Frozen Ever After opened. There was one evening that we went to MK after a heavy thunderstorm that I wished I had a light jacket (only time that's ever happened). I do remember that one year (2004, I think) it was ungodly hot..."real feel" was over 105 several days that week.

We were there the first week. But I thought I remembered that summer being notably warmer across the South (I live in GA). I thought I remembered it being mentioned in several weather reports all summer. But, I could totally be remembering wrong.

Now have split stay at POR (went from Garden View to Pool View with SOME savings, not a lot), and YC. Discounts were NOT what I'd hoped, and am crossing fingers AP discounts will be better. My problem right now is we're checking out on June 12, so the price on the evening of June 11 is SUBSTANTIALLY more.

Nothing like starting the day with some fun Disney math.

June 11th seems to be the increase day for Disney, doesn’t it? DVC season changes to a more expensive one as well!

Our plan is some type of quick Christmas trip in 2019 also. We’ll have APs but we won’t have any points to spare I don’t think. However I may try to get a transfer so we can do WL (our home) for a couple nights just to see it. Or check with a certain agency that has saved me lots of money for our upcoming quick Oct trip.

Going from June 17th to the 27th with my best friend. Just switched from POR to Wilderness Lodge.

I have a question for you other June travelers since I feel like this affects us the most. Are you factoring in the opening of Toy Story Land into your trips? I know the FP window won’t be open for some time, but are you already anticipating setting FPs aside for the new Toy Story attractions?

As far as the TSL FPs, just an FYI, they released Pandora ones at the end of March...so basically 60 days ahead of opening. So maybe they’ll do that for TSL.

Okay so call me crazy if you want to but I’ve planned out our June 2019 and June 2020 dates already! There are practical reasons behind it though. Because we own DVC we will book our June 2019 trip in July but we will be getting one set of APs to cover both our 2019/2020 trips so I had to work out the dates for both so I can make sure the APs cover both trips. I needed to figure it out a little early bc we actually won’t have quite enough points to cover 2019 so I needed to figure out how many to try to get transferred from another member (it looks like we will only need 11 so not too bad) bc I’ll need to start checking on that in a few months.

Anyway...it’s really exciting to get that down on paper bc even though I’ve done around 17 trips, it’s been in 44 years so we’ve never gone “regularly” until recently. Anyway, in 2020 almost all of our trip will be paid for save our dining and some points we’ll need for that trip too so we will do one night at the beginning of our trip at Legoland Hotel (and one day at the park) per request from my boys (they’ll be 8 and 6 on that trip).

So as of now we have a semi plan for June 2018, Oct 2018, June 2019, probably fall 2019, Christmas 2019, and June 2020.

We like to do the rope drop-midday break-nighttime touring philosophy. During our break, we head back to the resort and rest or swim, shower, etc. We usually take about a 4 hour or so break. We try to be out of the park by 1 or 1:30....back around 5 or 5:30. And we usually stay until closing. I have two boys that were age 3 and 5 on our last trip. They did pretty well with the late nights but I think its because of the midday break and because we had the double stroller so they could rest and sleep during the day/evening, if needed.

We've been going about every other year since my oldest kids were 2 and 4. Since our last trip was in early June 2016, we're looking forward to several new things that have opened. FEA, Soarin' Around the World (although we did catch it last summer in DL), and of course all of Pandora. And really, really, really hoping TSL opens around Memorial Day like everyone seems to say it will.

As I skimmed some above, I think someone asked how to plan for TSL's possible opening. I am planning to have my HS days towards the end of our trip, so as to increase chances of getting FP+ for SDD (we're ok with missing out on the aliens ride). If nothing has been announced when it's my day to make our FP+ I will just get placeholders so to speak and plan to really stay on top of the news. I remember in 2014, SDMT opened in late May, but they hadn't released the FP+ when I made my reservations in April for our June trip. But I made some placeholder FP+ reservations, and the day they were released I was alerted to the fact from one of my Disney peeps I follow on Twitter, so I modified and got SDMT FP+ on two different days.

Agree with Ariel on doing the mid-day break. We also leave the park around 1 and head back between 5 and 6. My mom naps and I take the kids to the pool and then we rest a bit. It's a good way to recharge. Once we skipped mornings and just got the parks around 3 and stayed until close. It helped my mom with the heat too.

I completely agree with ArielSRL and trvlgirlmq. We've traveled to Disney in late June seven times and we almost always take an afternoon break at the resort. It really helps to make the heat and humidity a little more tolerable for us. Occasionally we will do rope drop and power through the afternoon (saving indoor attractions for the hottest part of the day) and then head back to the resort for the day around dinner time. But we prefer to do the afternoon break instead.

Someone else mentioned placeholder FP+ as well. So I think I'll go ahead and do that when our booking opens up since that seems like the most logical way to do it! We've got two HS days planned, so I've got flexibility with our FP+ scheduling.

As per the heat;

The only other time my friend has gone we had four days and did rope drop everyday. It was in late May and it ended up being amazing. We got so much done that by 1pm we were heading out for the pool or napping. Then headed back into the park around 5pm. We also both work jobs were we have to get up well before 6am, so getting to rope drop at Disney is still technically sleeping in for us, LOL.

You're in, welcome! I think the others did a great job of adding some strategies. I will say my son really looks forward to the pool breaks, the arcade, and sit down meals so those are some suggestions I have! with 8 days you will have lots of time in the parks, especially if you are willing to get out early before it gets too hot. Also hope your son has a great birthday trip!

You're in too, welcome! I think they learned from that lesson and opened up the Pandora FP availability for the opening weekend right at 60 days. I think you have a good strategy, the news and rumors board will be the best place to keep up to date with the TSL details as time goes on. Also, have a great time! I've never stayed at the Contemporary proper but I do love the location and Bay Lake Tower is our DVC home!

We survived August by doing this, or RD and out by 1-2pm. The sleep in mornings/relax around pool first- works great when there is evening EMH too.
And in heat of summer if you are eligible for morning EMH getting up for that you can a ton done before heat really hits. When we would do that I'd schedule fast passes for the evening park.

We are staying at the cabins at Fort Wilderness this time though-I expect we are going to do 1/2 days at most in the parks, and just chill around the resort. We are touring much differently with AP's and longer trips. Toying with idea of moving to Epcot area resort for couple days (after time at cabins ends and before timeshare week starts) vs onsite at Universal for those days. Will depend on if we upgrade to AP at Uni or not (and which pass-the most expensive one includes EP after 4, so no need to stay onsite).

Yeah I managed to snag SDMT that year for June as well even though we were offsite, and I made my FP well after the 30 day mark. Even snagged and A&E meet and greet FP when they extended hours. Back in the day before most of regular public didn't really know about FP+...
Heck-I've snagged just about every attraction as a day of or day before FP too-now granted it is for 1 or 2 people at a time; my DD got a FoP same day FP in August-we had ours but we didn't know her schedule nor did she have her maingate pass at time I made FP.
