*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

Mom and I are doing the QSDP this time. Sure, sure, we've got some favorites and places we've tried and all, but we're looking for new and different. What's a QS that is special to you? Let me get the list started...

We are doing the QSDP too. Since we are arriving at 8:30am the first day and leaving at 11:00pm the last day, we needed two additional Disney meals, so we booked two tables to pay out of pocket. Here is what we are doing

Day 1 - Intermission Food Court, Hollywood Brown Derby Fantasmic package
Day 2 - Sunshine Seasons (a favorite), Peco's Bills (we love the fixings bar there)
Day 3 - Cookes of Dublin, Restaurant Marrakesh
Day 4 - BOG (all time fav counter), Intermission Food Court

Taking my family of 8 to WDW this June, will include my handicap mother (she barely survived some major spine surgery as well as breast cancer this yr and it's her wish to visit WDW one more time) and also my DS girlfriend who's never been to WDW before. All my kids have been to WDW before their 1st bday, with my oldest DS 20 having been on 6 visits. My 10yr b/g twins are super excited as they can't really remember ever being to WDW, last visit was 2008. I know many of you have way more visits under your belts but coming from CA, this is a lot. We visit DL 3-4 times a yr and have since before my kids were born so that's were our expertise is. We also have done 2 Disney cruises (one was a 17 day Panama Canal - it was amazing) and stayed at Aulani 2 summers ago. We are defiantly Disney fans. Just alittle background on my family. Have been reading all the tips in the boards for a few weeks now and can't wait to post some of our pics after we return.

Oh I forgot to mention, are going in June for 15 days...8 days WDW parks, 3 days WDW water parks and Disney Quest and 2 days US. Thinking we might get annual passes and plan a return trip for next June as well.

Last night we watched The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Yes the one with Nicholas Cage in (:lovestruc ). When we went to WDW in 2010, they were showing the previews for it before Lights, Camera, Action in DHS.

I was laughing about the nostalgia and the dance shows. I thought I was the only person who felt this way. Currently, I am so "Let It Go" exhausted. Not the movies and not the soundtrack...Just the numerous performances of it. DD's choir performed it. It was good. But now it seems to the be "The Song" for graduations this year. Not every performer should sing certain songs. It's too new to make it their own, but trying to mimic the hand motions and exact vocal of the recording artists...It's a tough line between the nostalgic and the new.

My class song was the theme from St. Elmo's Fire. Come to find out, that instrumental piece had words. We really wanted a Beatles mix, but there was some concern with Lucy in the Sky  The Best part of Graduation was the reading Dr Seuss' Oh, The Places you will Go.

I know EXACTLY what you mean!!! When we started planning the choir/theatre musical revue ALL the kids wanted nothing but Frozen.

Im jealous your graduation had some fun to it. Our school is all about "oh this is a FORMAL event", yet it is held in the outdoor football stadium. A couple of years ago the senior class song was "We Are Young" and it was also the senior selection the band played. Well, while the band was playing it, the seniors decided to just start singing along. In the weeks that followed, it was conveyed through admin that the big boss was NOT happy that the seniors sang along. That was NOT rehearsed and it better not happen again. Way to ruin the fun of a momentous night for those kiddos!

  1. Yorkshire County Fish Shoppe -- love it, and it's a must do every trip.
  2. Columbia Harbor House -- menu is a little different than the standard faire, and we're good with that. Can't eat a burger at every meal.
  3. Be Our Guest -- We've done dinner there before, and either we'll get a lunch there this trip or we won't.
  4. Casey's -- Can we say Corn Dog Nuggets?
  5. Cosmic Ray's -- Ribs & Chicken enough to share, says everyone...

So, again... Favorite QS and what do you like about it?

When I first started planning this, I had wanted to try the fish and chips at Yorkshire. I love fish and chips! Then suddenly out of nowhere I develop an allergy to fish! So disappointing! And now I have to check the ingredients of everything I eat. Such a pain!
Anyway, I'd love to hear what are people's favorite thing to order at CS places. I know all the things to get at DLR, but not WDW. We are not on the dining plan because we do not eat the way it dictates. We never get dessert with a meal, but then we might go have an ice cream cone and call it dinner. Sometimes DH and I share meals.
There is one thing I know I like because I've had it at DLR- the Holiday Sandwich at Earl of Sandwich. Yum! Our plan is to try to get over there for a late dinner on arrival night. I'd love to take notes on what other people like. I've had my eye on Sleepy Hollow, but I really need some ideas for CS at Epcot.

We really like the CS in Mexico at Epcot. It always works well in our touring plan to be in Mexico around that time, too!

Things have changed since my graduation "Sweet Valley High 92." Ok, so that isn't really the school I went to, but the books were so popular at the time.

Last year was the Graduation for our sons. Big big reminders that this is a formal event and not a celebration. It was due to years past when they had allowed the air horns, beachballs and decorating of caps. As a parent, I was glad that they did away with the cap tape. My son was not happy. He had a template for the college he was going to. It's the other :crazy2: stuff kids put on. The funny thing is parents still brought beach balls and the air horns. "We'll show them..." And generally it's not the kids who dress inappropriately.

We did have Skype running last year for the parents/family who were overseas or in other states.

Waiting to see what the class of 2016 has in store for it.

Last time we did all TS because we were on Deluxe Dining. This year we are trying the French Bakery. Baguette, Bisque de Homard, Croque Monsieur, Salad Nicoise, et Pan de chocolat.

We usually have QS credits left over and hit Wolfgang Puck Express on the last day, then use up whatever is left at Earl of Sandwich.

Totally did not realize that Cookes was QS, though. Definitely one to think about.

Going for 2 weeks. We leave early Saturday morning for the airport. Direct flight, we'll be in Orlando by 10:30 am Saturday.
So I'll probably pack Friday.
Or do you all think Friday is too late to pack... Maybe I'll start Thursday night:rotfl2:

We've hit the 12 day mark! I've got my husband upstairs on his computer booking us transportation to the airport. He's also got to get our mail held. What a guy.

5 days to go!! I can't believe the suitcase isn't packed yet! We've been so busy, I'm waiting until Wednesday. I have a Disney bin to pull out. It's only a 3 night stay so packing will be a breeze.
