*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

Cannot wait until our June 2014 trip. This is going to be the first time that I have EVER celebrated my birthday in Walt Disney World. This past June I celebrated my first EVER birthday in Disneyland. Only took me 43 years...

Just wanted to say Welcome Neighbor! We are just north of SF and it is our first trip to WDW too. Two years ago our two DS's graduated from HS and we asked if they wanted a trip to WDW or laptops. They chose laptops. How did they get so practical? :rotfl: Cheaper for us, anyway and now DH and I can go by ourselves. I hope you come back and let us know how you're plans are going. I read through the WDW side of the boards a little everyday just to try to soak up the information. It is soooo different from DLR!

Hello PinkBudgie, Thank you for the warm welcome. We are in the eastbay. My sons have been asking to go to WDW for a while. We settled for Disneyland several times. My oldest is almost done with trade school so he wont be going. Just DH, DS2, DD and myself. DS2 asked for a car, but I convinced him, this was his chance to go and we pay for it. My planning is somewhat mid-way. I have dates, a place to stay and my ADR's are done. This site is great with tips and information. The fact that it's so different from DLR makes me nervous, so I too try to soak up the information. Good Luck on your planning. :)

Way to fast talk him to take the trip! :thumbsup2 Cheaper than a car, anyway.

I assume all of us June people have made our ADRs by now. It's too early for FP+ so I'm waiting...and trying to figure out what rides to FP and what rides to jump on first thing in the morning. Hard to do when I've never been there.
Also hard for me is reading reports of people there now and knowing that not only will it be 10 times more crowded in June, but FP+ could be completely different by then too. Hard to get a feel for how it might go when it keeps changing. But I figure it will all be new so we'll have fun with whatever we end up doing. Anything else we should be doing or planning at this stage?

Best Disney Story: Every day and every memory in Disney is a fantastic story!:cloud9: But our most magical moment - Getting chosen as Grand Marshalls of MK parade!party:
Looking forward to the smells, sights, and sounds and enjoying every special detail the World always offers:goodvibes

Hi Fellow Junebugs!
I just booked June 21-29 at Saratoga Springs and made my ADR's! Woooo!:cool1: I know this will be one of, if not the most, crowded times we've visited. We've gone in June but a week or so earlier and clearly noticed that the crowd levels rose almost daily while we were there. I am nervous about that and tweaking my usual planning and park touring style but the intense, non-stop, all-consuming excitement has definitely taken over!!:woohoo: I am happy I found this and looking forward to seeing everyone's plans for June! :)

What's up with the park hours for MK on Sunday June 29th? I assumed there were evening EMH (yes, I probably didn't look properly at the time) but I see that they are not listed either on Disney's own site or on the TA calendar. Do you think they will add them in or have they perhaps not put EMH on for the Sunday because of the extended hours for the holiday later in the week?

It's not a biggie either way, but would help with planning as we are meeting up with people over the trip and not all are staying onsite so just trying to sort out best dates :)

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to join. I've been browsing DISboards for a while and had no idea these threads were here. My husband is going crazy with my talking about our trip all the time so maybe this will be a good outlet for me.

Favorite Disney Story: Anytime I get to watch Wishes is truly magical for me. I cry EVERY time. Most recently I was able to watch them with a great friend while chaperoning my school's senior trip and he has now left to teach in the Republic of Georgia so having that memory with him is truly special.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Everything! I've been planning to take my son for his 5th birthday since before he was born. It's always been my dream so the fact that it is FINALLY happening and coming true is amazing. If I had to narrow it down to one thing though it would be my DH and DS doing Pirate's League together. So EXCITED!

Will there be pictures of your classroom? :D Do you have the CD of the Wishes music? I have the parks CD, and if I'm having a really bad day, I can listen to the music from Soarin', and it puts me in my happy place. I also have a Paris Daydream candle from Bath & Body Works (but I haven't lit it yet...too afraid I won't be able to get another if I start burning it, but it smells like the orange groves...)

Favorite Disney Movie: Frozen, Mulan, The Emperor's New Groove, and The Lion King.
How Many Trips?: This will be my 14th trip to Disney in my lifetime.
On-Site or Off?: On-site!
Best Disney Story: Best Disney story.... hm.... well, in June of 2013 the family took a trip down. On the first day we were at the Magic Kingdom when it started to pour. Instead of taking shelter in the stores, we all hopped on the now very-short line of Big Thunder Mountain and got ourselves soaked! It was quite the experience. I've also been for MNSSHP twice, and going to AK is always fun.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? The fact that I haven't been there in a year is one... and the fact that we're staying the Lion King suite! I'm a huge Lion King fan, and in May when everything is beyond set in stone and our flights our booked and whatnot, I'll be calling dibs on the pull-out bed with Simba sleeping above it. C; Other than that, I just really, really want to go to Disney!

My school's jazz band is trying to go in March. I WANT to go...and it looks like most of the other teachers are going (to chaperone, like, 12 kids...) I told them that I haven't been since June (they laughed, as the rest of them have either not been at all or in years...), then said my mom and child would kill me if I went without them, so I guess I'd just have to wait until June to go. They weren't very amused. :confused3

Hello All,

I've been on Disboards doing research for awhile and finally decided to join once I seen the forum for the June 2014 trip. So I'm new to the forums. I am wishing you all a Happy and safe trip. I'm excited.

I went after I graduated and loved it! :)

Is it ok that I join in? I'm a newbie! We will be there from 6/3 - 6/10! We are staying at the BWV. We've stayed in this area before, once at the BWI and once at the YC.

Have a lot to get done, as we just booked our trip this past weekend, kind of on a whim. Now, it's time to get busy getting all of the details planned.

So excited!!!:thumbsup2[/QUOTE

We're still working on details (although we have our ADRs booked...) My DD wants to do the BBB, so I have to be getting that booked sooner or later...I just have to figure out what days we're going to be in MK. I think I may wind up booking for the last full day of our trip, because if she wants to keep her hair done, we'll be at a water park on her birthday. Hmm.

How Many Trips?: 7
On-Site or Off?: On

Best Disney Story: There are so many! My most memorable is from our July 2013 trip. Our youngest son had open heart surgery in 2012 when he was 4. We planned the Disney trip on a whim because we just wanted to do something FUN! We stopped at guest services to get him a "celebrating life" button. We told them his story, and the cast member asked who his favorite character was. He told her "Pluto." Next thing I know, one of the CM's was running out the door to the gift shop next door and a few minutes later came back with a Pluto stuffed animal and presented it to Griffin. Needless to say, I was a bucket of mush and sobbing.

What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Trying out DVC (rented points at a GREAT deal from my dh's friend at work (less than $9 a point!) and being there for 15 days. I want to take things slow and just be able to explore! We were there for a Christmas trip too (Annual Passes sure do tempt you into sneaking in other trips!) and I felt a bit frazzled. This trip is going to be my slow down trip! We might not be back for a few years (3 trips in a year basically drained all our cash), so I want to savor this.

Such a great story! And I love Olaf, too. We're going to do homemade valentines for my DD's class this year...snack sized baggies filled with Hershey's hugs and a tag that has Olaf and says "Hi, my name is Olaf, and I like warm hugs!" So cute!

Hello all,

Well, it looks like there will be no trip for us this year. :sad1: We just can't swing it.

Feel free to take my name off the first post . It has been great reading about all of your planning. I am so excited for all of you.

It's not that bad in June, although I understand that, the closer it gets to July 4, the worse it gets. I always hope for a tropical storm. Lots of rain and no lightning, because that will clear out the park. :thumbsup2

Can't believe using your Disney Pass worked! I think I'd love to stay at the Poly...Of the three Monorail resorts...I *think* I'd like to stay there, if I had my choice....:beach:

I've stayed at the all three monorail resorts and the Poly is my favorite. In fact, this will be the first time I have ever done a repeat visit to the same WDW resort. Mostly because when I asked my husband where he wanted to stay, he chanted POLY! over and over again.

I can most certainly get a few picks of my classroom. My prized possession in my room is my Mickey desk clock that shows him taking a nap on a stack of paper with the word "RUSH" on them. My kids ask all the time how I got it personalized since Rush is my last name but it actually came like that! I found it before I got married but refused to purchase it until afterwards to fear of jinxing it. I was terrified the whole time that they were going to stop selling but luckily they didn't. I'll get a picture of it up soon. :)

I don't have the music but I'm going to try to find it now and that candle sounds AMAZING! I'm originally from Panama City Beach, FL and when we used to drive to Orlando we would drive past some orange groves and it is my favorite smell in the world. The first time I smelled it on Soarin' I was in heaven!

We've only ever done 1 deluxe resort -- Wilderness Lodge. It is gorgeous, but we didn't really like staying there. We have done CBR twice and POR 3 times. We are currently looking at POFQ, but have never really wanted to stay there. We've booked a value a couple of times, but always wind up changing back to a mod. I guess POR must be my favorite, because the first time we stayed there was the first time I recall them saying "Welcome Home" when I checked in. :lovestruc

Your pic of that clock could be your profile pic here! (Just a thought....)

I'm about an hour and a half north of Panama City! I ran...er...walked in the Biggest Loser 5K there the Sunday before New Years (placed 3rd in my category, too! Woohoo!)

Here's a link to the candle... B&BW has a Wallflower in this scent, too, but my local store clearanced it out in August. I bought SEVERAL, and I should use it eventually. The plan is for me to put it behind my desk at school... Love it, love it!

Hello, RainyDayPlay! McKinney is about 30 minutes north of Dallas. Hello fellow Texan! A state of mind truly. We will be flying. This summer we drove to Tennessee (15 hours straight) so we are done traveling by car for at least a year or two! Where are you traveling from?

I was born in Lake Jackson, which is south of Houston. We lived there until I was about 6 months old, then moved to Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, and finally settled (more or less) in southeast Alabama. We're about a 6.5 hour drive away from Disney. :)

Post 1 updated!

My sick day (I have the flu!) has turned into a snow/ice day (no sub required!) and we're still waiting on the snow! I think it's sleeting right now (maybe). I've also seen a whole bunch of negative comments about how us Southerners don't know how to handle real cold/snow/ice/insert-other-winter-weather-condition-here! Guess what? It's true! Last time we had snow/ice/whatever here was one day in February 2010. If you only get it every 4 years or so, how can you get used to driving in it! So, yes... Schools were out early today or stayed closed, and will either open on a delay or be closed tomorrow. Roads and businesses are also closed (except Walmart...they'd stay open regardless...) At points farther north in the state, there have been people who have died from driving in this mess, and everyone is blaming the meteorologists for saying there wouldn't be snow much farther north than Montgomery. Oops!

Anyway...wherever you are...stay warm, stay off the roads if you aren't used to driving in this mess, and think warm, Disney thoughts! I'll be around today and tomorrow, then back to work Thursday for me!

Rainyday
We were supposed to only get a dusting and have gotten at least 2 inches and it is still snowing. I went to pick my kid up earlier and had a wreck on the way home. Not because I didn't know how to drive, but because my brakes locked and I slid. This mess is terrible!! BTW, where in Alabama are you??

Bet I read about that on the Facebook page (my name is Vanya Glyr over there, btw). :thumbsup2

I'm about halfway between Troy and Dothan. The porch is icing over and icicles are forming on various things. If it snows here, it will likely do it overnight and melt first thing in the morning. No snowman building for us. I'll report back later, though. :)

Meh. Took the dog out this morning, and it's all ice in our yard. :(

On the upside, State Superintendent Tommy Bice has said that all school closures during this declared "state of emergency" do not have to be made up. :hyper: I don't know about you...but we won't get out until after Memorial Day (which I think is ridiculous, as my daughter, who goes to school in a different system than where I teach, gets out a full week earlier. She got Labor Day -- I didn't. I got two more days for Thanksgiving than she did (which means I got all her Christmas presents wrapped, which wasn't so bad...), and our spring breaks are two weeks apart, too.)

:welcome: Danadanes!

There have been a few stories of autistic kids really coming out at Disney. Do you ever go anywhere else for vacation after having that moment?
