*****OFFICIAL July 2012 Thread! Feelin' HOT HOT HOT!

Quick question about requests....we have never really requested anything before (except when traveling with my mom and wanting rooms near each other), but we only ask when we get to the hotel and never have requested it before hand. If they can accommodate great...if not, we just walk and meet her..no problem.

Anyway, last year my son was diagnosed with asthma. He takes an inhaler for prevention and also takes one when he is having an attack. Last year in the fall when we went, right after he was diagnosed, our room was near an outside smoking area (didn't know about it until the next day when we opened our door). Smoke is one of his triggers. Do you think that I should request a room away from a smoking area ahead of time or should I just ask at check-in to not be put near a smoking area? Any suggestions?

I would call and ask for it to be put on your account. Rooms are assigned a few days in advance so if the person knows you have a health issue and need a specific location, they will do their best to accommodate (no guarantees on requests).

Then at check-in, also verify that your room is not near the smoking section.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I realize I am late to the July 2012 party but we are taking our very FIRST trip to the world in 3 weeks, July 8th - 13th. I am so excited. :dance3:

anjalee66.. My last day is the 21. I'm still working on grading papers.... Which I will be doing from sun up to sun down this week end. And on June 22 I'm going to the kids' prom. I hope I don't get too emotional this year. They always look so grown up and all.

And I booked a mini trip with a friend/colleague of mine.. we're going to Ogunquit, Maine from June 25 to 29 so we can rest on the beach! yay!

Here's to a great end of the year for you! You are almost there. One more week to go! You can do it! And the beach trip sounds great. That is where we are headed this weekend. My mom lives 20 minutes from the beach in NJ so we are headed there to see her. Hope the water isn't too cold....hate cold water.

Sooooo, we finally told our DD about the trip! She is 8 and a little like her dad, my DH, in that she likes to overplan every minute of our trips. :confused3 I guess it is because they are both off all summer (he is a high school teacher) while I have to go back to work within days of returning.

Anyhow, she had her showcase (summer dance recital) on June 12th and we always put an ad in the program. I thought it would be cool to just put the "surprise, we are going to Disney" in ad instead of hunting down some quote. We decided to tell her that way instead of just saying it, we are weirdos like that.:lmao: I told her teacher that I wanted to be able to see her reaction and didn't want anyone to let it slip out beforehand. (Her teacher is the greatest and really worked to keep this secret for months!!)

At the recital, the programs weren't given until the very end when the girls were given their trophies. The show was over and we called her to the edge of the stage. I had her sit down, dad was videoing, and had her look thru the program for our ad...... She read it and screamed! Then broke into tears and couldn't stop!! Her teacher was hanging back and was happy to be part of the surprise.:thumbsup2 I think she loves us for all the hugs and kisses we've been getting since then.:love:

Now, they are plotting against me to define every minute of every day. Someone help me please!

Glad that the surprise went off without a hitch! :goodvibes. And glad she is super excited! Hope she calms down and doesn't try to redo all your plans. ;)

I got my Mickey Mail on saturday! I was so excited to see it that I did a little dance!!

Well we're getting close - YAY!! And I just found out a friend is going to be there at the same time as we are so I have been giving her all of the advice you have given me when I realized I forgot to ask one important thing - does Tinkerbell fly before the fireworks on the 3rd?

I gotta share the excitement! DH surprised me with a long weekend at the AKL starting on July 26.

I am so happy! It isn't a long stay by any means, but I am so excited! I love AKL and we found an incredible deal online for FL residents, the club level room was much cheaper than the regular savannah room :confused3 at first I thought I had read it wrong, but no! I was right!!!

We plan on just staying mostly at the resort enjoying the amenities, relaxing, etc and just go one night to MK to watch the summer overlay for the Magic, Memories and You. It is just too hot for me to run around the parks all day (I get grouchy and dehydrated easy).

:cool1: Dancing! So happy!

We are excited here in NY. Arriving July 28-Aug 5. POR.

Recently (June 7), my DD15 was very sick and hospitalized @ Maria Fereri Childrens Hospital for a week. We found out she is Type 1 Diabetic. So, this puts a new spin on our trip. We will be taking it slow, but still plan on having a magical time. Everyday gets a little better and a little bit easier.

Looking forward to possibly running into some Dis'ers. :)
