*****OFFICIAL July 2012 Thread! Feelin' HOT HOT HOT!

My DD and I have been going to WDW in July for a number of years. We do not shop, watch the shows and the fireworks very much anymore. We are into the rides and the food so the only time we feel the heat and experience the crowds is when we are in line for the rides. I feel if you take the tour groups out of the picture, the crowds are not very bad. I think you and your family will be just fine.

Karen - I thought I remembered you from last year Dis board! You must have read our 2011 trip report below. Hopefully we'll be able to meet up this year. The Dis meet was very enjoyable and looking forward in a group of Diser's getting togther this year around the same time I am at WDW. I will keep in touch. If I my ask, how old is your DGD?

Hi Bob, Love reading trip reports, and yes I read your trip report and was so impressed on how much you get accomplished in a day! We go at a much slower pace, for various reasons, but that said, we do have a fabulous time. My DGD is 6 years old and will turn 7 on the day that you and your daughter arrive! While July may not be my first choice, it is what it is. It's hot, it's crowded but, we go expecting that. The tour groups are what they are too, and I try not to let them bother me, and I don't imagine all the discussions concerning them really help us. Although, last year my DGD did ask why they were 'chanting'!

This will be our third trip, and we've yet to make it to all four parks. We will go to Hollywood Studios this year and hopefully see Fantasmia (sp). My DS and DGD will be here next weekend, so I'll show him the itineray and see if he wants any changes. He's pretty good about allowing me to plan the trip. The first year he was a little upset at the Wishes Dessert Party, 'What about dinner? Is this suppose to be our dinner?' I just smiled and said, yes, we'll having desserts for dinner tonight. He enjoyed it so much he couldn't wait to go back again last year!

So, are you bringing all the girls or just your DD?

Karen

WOW !! From the sounds of it, you'll will be very busy. Thanks for reading the report and hope you get to see the you tube video too.

Can't believe you remembered, yes - it looks like at this point I will have all three girls. Midori and her two friends Kinsley and Lucy. The parents are trying to get the funds together. They will have plenty of time, the resort and dining reservations are all completed.

Hi everyone! Today I booked the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage!!

DH and I decided to keep this one from the boys, and to surprise them just as we are going! I'm a big baby and would never be able to surprise them with a WDW trip (we always talk about what we're gonna do at WDW!), but I can manage this one! :rotfl2:

I booked the Pirates & Pals for July 28th, because the following day we're not getting up early to go to a park. Originally, I booked Kona at 8:30am for breakfast, as we were planning to pool hop over at the Poly and figured we would be able to go to the pool late morning and return to BWV in the afternoon to get changed...we were originally going to go to afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. But now, we changed the plan to dinner at Garden Grill (this is the day the rest of the family arrives to join us). So, I am going to change the breakfast at Kona to 10:30am instead. That way the kids can sleep in after a late night watching fireworks. They LOVE Peter Pan and Captain Hook, so this is gonna be so nice for them! I also like it that it leaves from the Contemporary, so we can just drive right over there from BWV and just drive right back, without having to fight crowds at MK to get out and go back. The best of both worlds...we get to see the fireworks, the kids get to have a fun experience, and no crazy MK late night crowds! :thumbsup2

Yeah, we are keeping our whole vacation from the kids...at least for a while. I just don't want them to get so excited now and ask when we are going months in advance. (no sense of time with a 3 year old). We might tell them as it gets closer, but we kept the whole last trip from them up until the point where we got to the airport. It was a lot of fun being sneaky, especially when packing. Lol.

Have all my ADRs set! Now I just need to figure out cruise details. That is where my attention will be for a little while.

It is so much fun to surprise your children! I remember for my child's bday one year I booked a flight to Phoenix to see High School the Musical Live. Was totally fun because he thought we were going to Colorado Springs to see his cousin when we turned to go to the airport he couldn't believe it! I had placed our suitcases in the trunk of the car after he went to sleep the night before we left.

I think this was one of the best trips we went on as he was totally surprised. I did this one more time on a Thanksgiving trip to Cancun with him! Great fun.

Planning a graduation surprise trip for him in the next two years, (he wants to do a transatlantic cruise hmmmm, we will see).

He LOVES Disney and I am so happy about that since I do too!

I am so excited. Just booked our July trip. It is my daughter's 6th birthday while we are there and I just made reservations for the Bippity Boppity Boutique on her birthday. She is going to be sooo excited. Cant wait!

I'm getting so annoyed that all my ADRs are done, but I still can't book Cape May Cafe. Hope I can get it soon!

:cool1: I with you though I could never keep Disney a surprise for the kids. We talk too much about it and I love having my countdown ritual that me and my DS do each night.

I just wanted to say HI guys :wave2: I'm wishing I had planned July now :dance3: Just popping my head in because I miss you guys!!

Carrie - Happy Day to you and your family. We miss you being on the Dis.:surfweb:. Midori will be going on her trip to Australia in June and then we are off to WDW in July. I am sure Kinsley and Lucy are going with us as planned. Just waiting on the other parents to fund their part.

Thanks - Bob

I wish you were going in July too - that was so much fun last year. So far, I think Michelle and I are the only ones that overlap a bit. We have to go early because our APs expire July 12th

Hi everyone! Well, the show I have been running since the Fall (SING) was last night and the night before. For those of you who are newer here, SING is a competition (in some NYC high schools) where the students write, direct and perform their own musical, from the script and lyrics (to music from existing songs), to the costumes and the set, and the performance. There are 2 groups in my school competing against each other...Senior/Fresh and Junior/Soph. I have been coordinating it this year for the first time and I had a blast doing it! Senior/Fresh won, but both shows were spectacular! The kids worked so hard and it was phenomenal. So, now things are winding down a bit here...and I am able to come home at 3pm from work most days!

And now, I am gonna be able to focus more on WDW plans and theme park itineraries. I love the planning stage!! :)

This is the first time going in July and I hope I don't melt! I don't do well in the humidity but going with my 4 year old granddaughter, son and daughter-in-law. She has a work conference in July so we'll meet her afterwards in Disney. I may end up in the pool more than the parks this trip.

That is what I thought about the heat in July the first time we went in July, but itvreallybisn't that bad. I have been in September and it has been just as hot then. It's just the crowds that are worse. We just make sure we get up early, do EMH in the mornings and then take a break from the mid day sun.
