*OFFICIAL* July 2010 thread! It Was Hot, It Was Crowded...AND IT WAS AWESOME!!

Wow-we didn't even encounter crowds like that the week of the 4th! It was definitely hot, though.

That one day was just impossible but I think all the days were really crowded. I had purchased the Lines app and it seemed like all the estimates were shorter than reality, so I'm guessing that there were more crowds than expected for that week.

I'd look on the Lines app and it would say 20 minutes but the posted sign would say 50 minutes. I tried to report the times in the app whenever I could to help others out.

That is interesting about the lines app - I had Mobile Magic and the wait time and fast pass return times were very accurate, if anything they were actually shorter several times.

I was on the Lines app too. I couldn't decide which was more accurate for actual wait times, the Lines predicted time or the wait time shown at the ride.

For example, Tuesday morning at MK, Haunted Mansion showed a wait time of 30 minutes just after 9:00 a.m. I looked down the path and couldn't see anyone waiting. I think Lines showed a predicted wait time of 8 minutes. So, I decided to ride it. My kids were protesting because they didn't want to wait 30 minutes. As we walked down the path and turned the corner there was no one there. In fact, we walked all the way into the "dead center" of the stretching room with a few other brave souls. We literally walked on the ride. There was no one there.

Also, my son had walked over to BTMRR to get fast passes, while DD and I sat outside HM. I can't tell you how many families walked past it and said they weren't going to ride due to the 30 minute posted wait time outside the ride.

I would always try to check the reported times by other users. I loved that you could see the current fast pass time as well.

I agree - I thought it was fairly empty the week of July 4th! Now, I swear - July 4th was the day we saw the giant gummy bears in Germany or it might have been July 1st....
You must've gotten the last one! lol

I had every intention of using the Lines app. Had it downloaded and subscribed but I totally forgot. We don't have Verizon so I couldn't use Mobile Magic but did sign up for the texting version of this thru WDW and the ability to find characters was handy. A few times a day we'd text WAIT_____ to find the special ones--Mickey, Bell, Tiana....

TODAY'S.......ok you get the point :)

WOO HOO TODAY"S THE DAY

Patrick was the first up at 6am (gaud how does he do that?????) showered and changed then work me up about 6.15. I've showered and changed while Patrick is packing the luggage in the car (one of these days we'll just get to the point where all we'll bring is 1 case each and the lap top - THATS IT - but for now we've got loads

I'll be waking Princess Cassandra (I can say that now becasue TODAYS THE DAY) in about 15 minutes and I'm hoping that by telling her that it's Disney Day she won't be so mad I'm waking her up instead of letting her wake up on her own.:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3 We'll see.

It will take about 4 hours to drive to Patrick's aunts house but we're leaving early so that we can spend an hour at Daytona Beach. It's not often that we get to the beach back home and that's a lake. The last time Cassie say the ocean was last year when we went on the Disney Cruise (WOO HOO)

WOW this post seems more like an update.... better remember to copy it into my tr tonight :)

Ok. gotta shut down and wake up the Princessprincess:

lets get some pixie dust for luck she's not cranky :wizard::wizard::wizard:

Quick note to say we arrived at the BC on Wednesday and checked out this morning 2 days early for BLT! BC just wasn't for us, which really surprises me. We are having a great time though!!! We don't hit the parks till Sunday, so we have a few more days of pool/ arcade and general relaxation time :)

Did you lose money by leaving BC early??? Didn't like Beach Club?:scared1: Why? We have stayed there on the villa side the past two summers and love it.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. :thumbsup2

For once, I had a phone that something worked with (lol). I have an old EnV2 but at least Mobile Magic worked. DH is threatening to switch to ATT, and I will miss the having Mobile Magic.

Have a wonderful time!!!

Sounds like a really great way to vacation to me. Resorts and restaurants just are not the same for everyone. Hope BLT works out better!

We arrived home last night. Today, I did laundry (totally overpacked!!!) and worked on deleting bad pictures.

The crowds were only bad on the days we went to the parks late (11:00 after the night before's night EMH.) We didn't plan on doing E ticket rides, so we walked right on/in the less popular - TTA, Carousel of Progress, Hall of Pres.

Tour groups were everywhere, but again, early morning...no problem...late night..no problem.

The heat wasn't an issue either. I think one day was REALLY hot/ humid, but going in and out of AC for rides...no problem. DH and I laughed about the temps here at home. It is supposed to be 99 (feel like 110) tomorrow. Essentially, we escaped the heat by going to FL.

I will start our TR soon. :goodvibes I have to get busy reading everyone else's report!

Welcome back Debby - I can't wait to read your trip report. I totally over-packed too. It is so easy to do when you have a car!

Thanks Wendy! How was your trip? Was it nice returning so soon after your last visit? I imagine it was harder to leave this time. Will you be doing a trip report?

Did anyone on this thread see a "marshay" LGMH at BWV?

My nephew and BIL were pushing my stroller and they said someone came up to them recognizing my LGMH ... but of course they couldn't remember who it was.

Just curious if it was someone on here.:goodvibes

We're baaaaaaaack! Will post lots more tomorrow. So sleepy!!! Had a SUPER week with lots of cool surprises :) :)

So tired. So happy. Feet ouch. Love this place. So far my favorite meal was Kona for dinner tonight. Had the shrimp & scallops. Delish.

Too tired for much now - but especially for "Disney newbies" like us - I would have to say a couple things: take multiple shoes - What's heaven at home can be torture here. And absolutely just "chill" - be ready to change your plans or go a different direction.

We are having the time of our lives down here :-) Looking forward to the non-humid Colorado climate again though :thumbsup2

Enjoy your last few days!

Home from the trip. Gotta say that it was a blast but the one thing that caused much irritation was the fact that there were 5 or more groups from Brazil there and they all went to the same park each day.

It wasn't bad that they were there, it was that they traveled in one group instead of breaking into smaller groups. And we saw one of the tour guides have all there tickets and go get fast passes for rides, which caused the fp to be gone for the day pretty much.

We also ran into issues at MCO because the people there were grumpy and not friendly. They had a lot of people trying to get through security and only had 2 gates open.

Other than that, we had a blast and were able to ride most of the rides we wanted (Soarin and Test Track were both 90 minute waits and no FP, even during EMH). We loved TSM, as we picked up a FP at 1130 am for 830pm and went through the line. Then the CM at the FP collection told us to go up the other set of steps since it was our anniversary. Got up to the front, and the ride stopped for about 10 minutes. But we rode and played the games. I can see why it is such a long line, but one recommendation would be to add TVs into the stand-by line that plays the TS movies all day long, so that if you are waiting an hour and a half, you have the movie to take your mind off the wait.

Glad you had a great trip! July temps are prutal

One of my favorite parts of Disney is meeting new people! I'm a VERY shy person and don't talk much to people I dont know, except in Disney! What was the one meal you didn't enjoy if you don't mind me asking?

Like you, we said after this trip that this was our last July trip ever..I think it was my 4th trip in July and i really can't do it anymore

Tony's Town Square was the resturant we didnt enjoy. Dont get me wrong, the food was great but the service was super slow. There was a table in the corner who came after us but got served before us....I understand my sister has dairy allergies and that can increase the wait times but this was the ONLY place I saw any diffrence in our wait time.

So DH put the kabosh on going to WDW alone in Aug (after I put money down to hold the room ><) but he said we can go in 2 years (After he get's home from this next deployment and hopefully move out of NY to some place closer to Disney...TX would be a short jaunt I think). Only this time I will be planning for My family (5) My little sister (1) and my older sister and her sons (3) Which means I get to make 3 seperate reservations and request rooms next to eachother. I have Disney Post Partum Blues! I wanted to go back soooo badly! Oh well now I have my 2012 trip to look forward to which gives me lots of time to nab things for my nephews (who have NEVER been to Disney!) like trading pins and lanyards!
