*OFFICIAL* July 2010 thread! It Was Hot, It Was Crowded...AND IT WAS AWESOME!!

So sorry about your rings Kurby. Hope somehow they turn up.

We've been back a few days and my Disney hating DH said it was the best vacation he's ever had. He even told my GD we would come again for my 50th and her 8th birthday which is only 16 months away!

The WL was fantastic. I can't imagine every staying anywhere else. We could have stayed at the resort the whole time and had a great vacation. We reserved a Standard view room, (all I could afford) but recieved an inner courtyard view! Definitely not standard. I also recieved extra pixie dust when I lost our gift card on the second day with over $600 dollars left on it. After a little running around it was returned. A CM had found it in MK and turned it in at Guest Services. I cried.

AK and HS were total busts. Way too many Brazilians. We hardly did anything at either park. Epcot was a blast, which surprised me. Kim Possible was really cool. Ariel, at the 3:00 parade at MK on Wednesday made every penny I spent on the trip worth it when she looks straight at Riley, told her she was her favorite too and that she loved her and draw a heart and blew her a kiss. I know they are suppose to do stuff like that, but it really made my day.

Of course my DH's favorite was the Ohana Dinner and the quite resort.

We got back at 11:57 Sunday night. We had a nice trip. We arrived on Sunday night July 11th and returned on the 25th. It was quite the adventure.

We drove and stayed our arrival night at Buena Vista Suites. It was NOT bad for 89 bucks. We had plenty of room for that one night's sleep.

THEN we went to Shades of Green for 2 nights in two rooms. THEN on Wed. the 14th we checked into our 2br at SSR for 7 nights. THAT IS WHEN I FELT LIKE THE VACATION STARTED. On Wed. the 21st we left for Vero. Our first night was in a 1br on cash and then the next 3 nights were in two Garden Inn Rooms. I have decided that I will NOT ADD ON DAYS AT OTHER RESORTS AND DO ALL THESE SPLITS. IT was too much work. We should have driven down on Monday stayed at Buena Vista that night..... then checked into SSR for 8 nights followed by ONLY 3 nights at Vero. Of course HIND SIGHT IS 20/20. :rotfl2: When planning this trip it was kind of last minute so it didn't come together just right with the Vero nights. Now that we have experienced Vero...we will know to book WAY FAR IN ADVANCE there... if we go again. I have a Vero trip report on the DVC Misc. board.

We had a fun time.....it was hotter in MD the entire time we were in FL so the temps were not that bad. We left the parks each day by 1:00. Some days we went back at night and others we didn't. We also had 2 NON park days....well the guys hit the water parks but we enjoyed SSR and have decided that LESS park time is fine with us during the summer trips. Our kids 19, 16 and 11 enjoyed getting sleep and enjoying the resort pools. :thumbsup2

This was our 4th summer trip in a row and our 3rd in a row in July. We have decided to SKIP next summer. We want to try HHI and take a break from the summer trips at Disney. We miss our Nov. and Jan. trips...but now with the college schedule of our dd conflicting with our son's.....it is almost impossible to go during the school year now. :sad2:

There were a lot of Brazilian tour groups..more than I remember any other time. :scared1: We tried our best to never be going to a ride they were headed to. We watched the time jump from a 10 min. wait at RR at DHS to 30 when a HUGE group walked into the ride one morning.

Anyway...we had fun....it was nice to get away for 2 weeks. I preferred our 2nd summer trip of 08 when we stayed at OKW for 8 nights followed by BCV for 5. That was a nice relaxing trip. This trip involved WAY TOO MUCH MOVING. LESSON LEARNED!!!!

I'm glad your DH enjoyed your trip and that the resort was so good!!! Glad to hear also that you got your gift card back!!

We saw a lot of Brazilian tour groups also, but they didn't affect any of our park touring in a negative way. I actually found them to be some of the most gracious people I encountered on this trip. They were very polite and respectful and did not act like they own the world. I'm sad to say that the only rude people we encountered (trying to cut in line, having their child urinate in the bushes at MK 10 feet away from the rest room, etc.) all sounded like they were from this country. I am not saying that all the people from this country were rude...there were many that were very nice too! I met a very nice family from Scotland at DHS while waiting for DH to ride ToT, they were with their sons who were probably around 10 and 12 if I had to guess. Their sons were very sweet and liked my boys, and the mother was asking me about attractions at WDW since it was their first visit.

Some of the groups were "okay" some were VERY LOUD and they cut us off BIG time going into CAPT E O. They actually pushed and shoved them away from us. My dd19 and ds16 ended up sitting in the middle of them because they REFUSED TO SCOOT DOWN 2 SEATS so they could sit by us. I think it is hit or miss. A CM at EE asked this one group to please be quiet. His exact words were "We don't do that here" They were beyond LOUD.

Wow, how rude! Sorry they wouldn't move down a couple of spaces for you.

One thing I learn over and over again, and I am sure I will keep learning as life goes on...it really does take all kinds. And another thing I keep re-learning is that it is easier and feels much better to just be peaceful and nice than it is to walk around angry or with an attitude all the time. Not too many people get that one. :confused3 There are so many people out there that think that just because they paid the same money as everyone else did to do something, that they should have free reign of whatever it is...I have seen it not only at Disney but on every cruise ship I have ever been on, at restaurants at home and away, at the movies, all different amusement parks and theme parks, etc. Unbelievable!

Our kids kept complaining about the groups and my dh kept saying "they paid to be here too so we just have to deal" Which is true...everyone who pays to be at Disney has the same rights as we do....and that means getting fast passes at the same time we do, getting on rides in front of us and making us wait a long time. However it is annoying to deal with rudeness from people whether it be tour groups or other guests that JUST don't care when they push their way through to the front. It is what it is. We lived in Japan for 4 years and the Japanese people were the most considerate and such friendly people. We were taught prior to going what their customs are and what things are considered rude or disgraceful over there. My dd and I traveled all over Italy and our tour groups were very friendly and we learned what was appropriate and what was not when visiting a foreign country. Some simple gestures can be considered BAD in another country. I think it is important to remember that what is okay in your HOMELAND might not be okay in another country you are visiting. Some of these groups were fine but others were not. :sad2:

Had THE best trip ever, hot hot hot in July but somehow avoided the crowds and just had a marvelous ten days! I wanna go back tomorrow :yay:

I'm finally all caught up.

Kurby, I'm so sorry about your rings. Keeping my fingers crossed that they are found.

SRUSlum, I remember your TR and I loved it.

Nikki, yes it does suck. I was bummed all of our last day.

It looks like everyone had a great time in spite of the heat, rain, crowds or groups.

The groups annoyed by DH and DD14. We didn't encounter any rude groups. My DD was annoyed at their chanting and singing. DH was annoyed when he (2x's) got behind one of the leaders getting FPs.

I may do a TR, I haven't decided yet.

....just joining in to show off my countdown thingie....:rolleyes1 [ ;) ]

Sorry if I seem to suggest that the Brazilian groups were acting in a negative way. The only problem we had was that they were just so many in the smaller parks, AK and HS, that it made it impossible to get on any rides. In MK and Epcot, larger parks, we didn't have a problem. As far as cutting in line, I saw none of this from anyone from any country. Did make the mistake of trying to get into the ladies room at HS. Brazilian teen girls are just like american girls, just more of them in one place. I have to admit, the few times we heard a southern accent, it was like a family reunion for us all.

we saw the Brazilians too but only had 1 somewhat negitave but not really - could have been anyone one not because it was a group.

leaving Fantasmic a group of 4 or 5 girls plowed their way through us and knocked into Cassie - and kept going. a minute or 2 later somehow we passed them and they came through again and as one or two passed i turned around and simply said. you need to calm down and watch for the little kids you're knocking over.

two of them said oh sorry and one just looked like i insulted her.

Hey guys! We are back last night!! We had a wonderful trip!! it was hot but it was hotter in MD only had big rain one day and that was our check in day while waiting for our room. I think my parents had a drizzle one day.
We saw tons of tour groups but we got lucky and they never were going where we wanted to go!! We had great lines, Gabby met every princess(except Pochantas (sp?) yes WE consider her one).
I met Beth and she is so cute! Turns out I was talking to her hubby waiting for toon town to open!LOL
The Verizone Mobile Magic..WAS WORTH every penny!! that app was a
God send!
Not sure if I am going to do a TR...some days I took great notes, others not so much!

We just got back yesterday morning from our 12 day trip to Disney. It was full of fun, excitement, and a few unanticipated stops.... just in case anyone wants to know, the hospital near Disney is very nice. But that's another days story. I wasn't going to do a trip report just because I tend to ramble so... but it might be worth it just so you guys know about our trip excitement along the way. Everyone is fine, but it was an interesting few days. It was a good vacation and I even met up with Kurby along the way.. Didn't expect to see any DISers...
(Kurby sorry to hear about your rings... I guess that happened the day we saw you in HS...we lost a pirate hook in the bed sheets (lol) but much more easily replaced then rings. I am so sorry that you didn't find them as of yet...any luck?

So I am already planning our next vacation. I don't know that many specifics yet but we are going to brave the EXTREME HEAT again and the crowds and head back......... next July. Are we asking for it or what? We are going to attempt a new place...Now to read up on the TR that I missed while I was away. Lots of reading to do.

Sounds like everyone had a great time (though I really hope they find Kurby's rings!!!)

I'm finally recovered from the vacation and having a blast going through our 700+ photos, plus the 150+ Photopass pics. Our trip was amazing! A couple bumps in the road and some plan shifting, but nothing spoiled the magic!

I started a trip report here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2522531

Hope you all are doing well! I can't wait to plan our next trip!!

it was fun seeing someone from the disboard.

no they never found my rings :( guess it's now up to the security and insurance

i can't believe you're going back next july - we have sworn off hot months ever again. we didn't get half of what we wanted to do done. :(:(:(:(:( including TTA, COP and seeing toontown for the last time for Cassie

Welcome back everyone! I certainly know how depressing that can be. Our APs expired July 15th - and we do not have another trip planned. Next spring break we will be spending on college visits instead of Disney. We are also talking about doing something "different" next year - either Disneyland or doing Universal/Sea World etc.....I just don't know if I can handle Orlando without Disney - LOL.

I have been having some back pain issues so I have not been on the Boards much. It is too painful to sit sometimes.

Kurby - I am so sorry about your rings - I hope you get some extra special pixie dust real soon.

I cannot wait to read everyone's trip reports! I have a lot of catching up to do.
