OT - saw Knight and Day today it was adorable! I really liked it. The critics had panned it, but I thought it was really good!!! A nice diversion just before the SINGLE DIGIT DANCE tomorrow! :)

Nikki - your tip envelope is adorable! Love it!!!

Chicken Pox - the poor thing!!! Hopefully it's a mild case that will clear up quickly!

Bonnie -I hear you with the pizza and bagels - we lived on Long Island for 4 years and nothing beats NY pizza and bagels! There is no substitute!

Our pre-trip tradition is for DD and I to have a spa day the day before we go. Pedis and massages get us totally in the vacation mood!!! ;) Especially because we schedule them for just after we drop our fur baby, Jolie, off at doggie camp which KILLS us to do!

You folks leaving soon - have a blast, travel safe and take lots and lots of pics!!! Here's hoping for lots of pixie dust everywhere for you!!!

Oh how I miss NY/NJ Italian food and bagels. :( Louisville has nothing that compares! I get to go home to NJ in August and I'm most looking forward to the food! :lmao:

I hear ya...I went to college at University of Maryland, and while I enjoyed eating my fair share of crab cakes and other seafood in MD, the pizza and bagels did not compare to NYC. Whenever I would come back to Brooklyn for a weekend visit, I had to have at least one bagel, and pizza at least once!

I know what you mean. I grew up in Jersey and live in MD now and I agree crabs here are awesome, but there is nothing like a Philly style cheese steak and good pizza and MD does not come anywhere close with these two things. When I go back home, I run to the nearest cheese steak or pizza place.

Well, I'm taking my 15 mo to the doc in about a 1/2 hr. She's been scratching and has spots on her body. Yep, I think she has the chicken pox. :faint:She got the chicken pox shot 10 days ago ... I called my doc and she said some kids get the cp AFTER getting the shot.

Actually, what's ironic is this happened to my nearly 5yo too. I didn't think anything of it at the time. But now that it's happened twice, I guess we just react to this shot.

Oh man, that stinks!! I hope that she gets over it quickly. Hopefully it will be a milder case seems as she has had the shot!

Oooooooh, and how about those awesome NYC delis??? You can't get a good pastrami on rye anywhere around here for love nor money!

Awwwwwww............I lived in MD for 4 years after college and then DH and I moved to SC. We miss crabs and crab cakes SOOOO MUCH!! It's just not the same here :confused3

I'm so jealous you guys are so close to your vacations! You'll be back before we even start packing!

Let's see - pre-vacation traditions. Not much really. We clean the house really good before we leave - take out trash, run dishwasher, etc. After we put DD to bed, we sit out on the patio and have adult beverages for a couple of hours. We also have pizza the night before - we love pizza - and it's easy!

Hope everyone has safe travels and all the kiddos are feeling well!!!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I'm so jealous you guys are so close to your vacations! You'll be back before we even start packing!

Yeah but I'm already starting to feel jealous that once I'm home, you guys will still be looking forward to your trips!

Is it sick that I'm already getting sad that it's going to be over soon?!

I know what you mean - it's like as soon as summer break starts from school, I'm already thinking "slow down!!! it's almost over!!!"

We have to do a really good cleaning since we will be having my DD's birthday party two days after we get home. Hopefully we get everything done and only need to get the party supplies and mow the yard when we get back.

No, it's not sick. I get that way too! We were actually planning to book the dessert party and my husband said we should do it on the last night as like a last hurray and I said no because I knew I'd be upset and bummed and I didn't want the DP to be ruined :headache: I also find myself, in the weeks leading up, feeling sad that it will be over soon. So I totally understand!

I know!!! The bad thing is that once we get back from our trip, I only have a week and then I have to start going to trainings for school for a new reading program we adopted and then the next week school PDs and work days start! :scared1: I'm actually considering moving our trip up a week so I can have 2 full weeks before I have to go back to 'school mode.' ;)

pre-vacation traditions.

i'm even worse. i'm jealous when we checking out of those behind us checking in LOL it truly is a sickness i swear :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

since we drive 2 days to get to WDW our tradition is really simple.

cram everything we own into a mini van so dd only has enough room to breath and we can see her head then it's off to bed for dd an dh while i toss and turn thinking we forgot to pack something even though it's the kitchen sink we didn't pack.

every year except this one we wake up around 4 or 5 and are on the road no later then 5.30 so we're crossing the boarder by 7ish and on our way to breakfast in the States.

this year however we're going in the summer and i'm off so we're actually leaving on friday night right after dh comes home and showers. we'll cross the boarder and check into our hotel then find somewhere to have dinner and even though we're used to getting up early we're going to sleep in just a little and be on the road by 6.30-7am

Oooooooh, and how about those awesome NYC delis??? You can't get a good pastrami on rye anywhere around here for love nor money!

Ahh yes...see I'm Italian AND Jewish! You're right, there's nothing like a NY deli!! We don't eat deli often (it has tons of salt in it!), but we do have it a couple of times a year and I wouldn't get pastrami or corned beef outside NY! Katz's in the city is amazing, we took my dad there last year for his b-day. The pastrami literally melts in your mouth! We have a couple of local delis in Brooklyn that are really good too, the ones I ate in while I was growing up!

Our local pizzerias also make awesome Italian food. They're what you would call the real "Mom & Pop" places! Put it this way...I'm not a big fan of places like Olive Garden! ;)

I think along the same lines, so I don't think it is sick at all! I am enjoying these last 10 days of looking forward to the vacation. Looking forward to it is a very fun and special part of the whole experience for me. While you are there, make sure you have a lot of fun (and I know you will!), and just try to focus on that!

Here's an example of the way I think...the restaurants in Epcot are some of the things I am looking forward to the most on this vacation! Our last day, we are doing an Epcot day, World Showcase only (it's our third day at Epcot!), and I booked lunch at Chefs de France and dinner at Biergarten. I am so looking forward to trying Chefs de France for the first time, and to returning to Biergarten since we loved it last time, but I don't want to look forward to those ADRs so much since it is at the end of the trip. Same thing for the character breakfast at Cape May the morning we leave. I have heard wonderful things about Cape May and I am looking forward to that breakfast, but not looking forward to leaving right after it!

Oh seeing the happy vacationers pulling up on the ME bus as you are waiting to leave is THE WORST!!!!!!!! It literally makes me cry! At least you have the drive home to kind of wind down and get out of the WDW mode....

Oh you will LOVE lunch at Chefs! I recommend the 3-course prefixed menu. I am getting the exact same thing I got last year: french onion soup, macaroni and cheese and profiteroles! So delicious!

I hear ya though...right now, I'm most excited for dinner at Rose and Crown, most likely because that's our first night...then I'm sure I'll just be looking forward to whatever's next!

Aaaaah, you're killing me with the pastrami from Katz's! My father used to take us in to the city on the LIRR and it has been literally 20 years since I've been there. Looks as if I need to be making some more travel plans! ;)

:confused:Ok, I still don't know what the Dessert Party is and how do you book it.:confused3

It's an event that you can book during the Summer Nightastic Fireworks. It's held in the Noodle Station and includes a HUGE buffet of desserts and multiple beverage options. You can check in an hour before the fireworks start and can stay after they're over (not sure how long, maybe 1/2 an hour?) We did it last summer on July 3, so we got to see the 4th Fireworks show and not be crowded, that, in and of itself, was worth the price to us (it was cheaper then.) Here's the info from allearsnet:

Beginning Sunday, March 28th, the Fireworks Dessert Party returned to the Magic Kingdom. It is available nightly except on Grad Nites: April 23, April 24, April 30 and May 1.

The Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party (depending on the time of year, fireworks shown may not be Wishes) opens one hour prior to Wishes and includes a buffet offering a wide range of sweets and beverages. Park admission to Magic Kingdom Park is required.

The regular price for this experience is $21.99 for adults and $11.99 for children (3-9 years old). Peak period pricing will be $25.99 for adults and $13.99 for children.

Call (407) WDW-DINE to make reservations, pre-payment will be required. While walk-ups will be alowed if space is available, to avoid disappointment make an advance reservation!

No discounts available. The Disney Dining Plan is not accepted.
