Attention all July DISers who will be in Epcot on the 4th!! We are planning an informal meet somewhere around France at 3:30!! (Excellent idea, Wendy!) If you are willing and able to attend, I can add your name to the list. (Can you tell, I am a list-maker? You should have seen the amount of lists I had leading up to my wedding!) OR, if you just happen to be around, show up anyway!! We'll finalize the details when it's closer to the time!

woo hoo - just paid the final balance, changed from a 10 day base ticket to a 6 day with hopper. All our reservations are done and we're all set to go.

just have to get through the rest of this month, head off to quebec city for a week, spend 5 days doing laundry and packing the car then we're Going to Disney World.

We have only stayed at the Swan and while we loved it, when we went over to the dolphin on our last day to rent a car it was a lot different. The Swan is great, very relaxing hotel with a quiet feel to it. It is a Westin operated hotel so it has 2 queen beds instead of the 2 full beds the Dolphin has. Just wanted to clear that up, we loved the Swan.

When we went over to the Dolphin we noticed how big and grand the lobby felt. Since these hotels are not "themed" like the rest of the disney resorts I found the big lobby a lot more appealing to the kids. While the swan had the feel of a really nice hotel there wasn't much action. The swan was also pretty far away from the main pool (the grotto) about a 5 minute walk. The Dolphin seemed to be much closer. The dolphin also has the 24 hour food buffet style place and a market.

Bottom line, both are great. If it was an adult trip we would definitely pick the swan. Since we are going as a family with 2 kids (10 & 2) we want a grander feel, more action ect... which is what the Dolphin has. A more family friendly environment I guess.

That makes sense - thanks for the info! We have not stayed either place, but I always wondered what the differences are.....they sometimes offer good deals.

My back is SO much better today, thank goodness! It still hurts, but much easier to deal with it. I am going back to work tomorrow! I like your attitude...each day of recuperation is a day closer to Disney!! We leave in 5 weeks from today, and in 5 weeks from Tuesday we will be at WDW!



We were there from July 13-18, 2008. We arrived at Pop Century at 11 AM and checked in (room was ready!). We had lunch there and then took the bus over to MK for a half day there. We were having a great time, I used my plans from Tour Guide Mike so we didn't wait in any long lines (this was incredible!), and by 4:00 we were enjoying Mickey's Philharmagic after waiting only 10 minutes in line for it! Well, we come out of the theatre, and it is pouring! I mean coming down in sheets! The double stroller was soaked. We went and grabbed the stroller and ducked into Pinocchio Village Haus for cover. My younger son was only a year old at the time and not walking yet so we had to take turns carrying him. It kept raining so hard, and we had a dinner ADR at 5:00 at LTT! Finally when it was only lightly raining, we made a run for it. We had to put the baby back into the stroller which was still wet. We felt so bad for him, but we couldn't carry him that far. At least it was hot out so he didn't get chilly from the rain.

Then, a couple of days later we were at DHS and we had a very nice morning. DH had grabbed a FP for Tower of Terror (his favorite ride in all of WDW) and after we had finished everything we wanted to do, he wanted to ride it. It was about 1PM, then we planned to leave the park after he rode. About 3 minutes after he went in to the ride, I heard thunder. I saw big gray clouds. Both boys were falling asleep in the double stroller. I walked as fast as I can and went into the nearest store I could find. As soon as I got in there, I texted DH to tell him where we were, then it started pouring. About 15 minutes later, I got a text from DH that he rode the ToT and he is going to wait it out until the rain lets up. The store I was in was getting more and more crowded as I stood there reading Disney cookbooks, and my boys were fast asleep through all of this! It took about 45 minutes before it let up and DH texted me that he is gonna make a run for it, and then he met us in the store. By this time, we had bought ponchos but DH didn't have his with him, they were in the stroller which was with me! Anyway, it was still only raining lightly, boys were still asleep, we decided to make a run for the parking lot and go back to the hotel. We managed while it rained lightly. We had a dinner ADR at 6:15 that evening at 1900 park Fare. We left the room at 5:30 and it was still raining! It rained the whole time we were at dinner and into the night too.

So funny! We were there that same week and those are the same two parks on what sounds like the same two days that I remember it being so terrible. We were at the MK on our first night when it was bad. Then a couple days later we were eating at Pizza Planet in DHS and we were eating under an umbrella when it started coming down in buckets. Luckily the umbrella did the trick until we finished and then it started coming in sideways We ran into that gift shop right there (which IMO is a super boring one,) and were stuck there for 45 minutes and it wasn't letting up. We finally just decided to treck through the 6 inches of water and head for the busses. Instead, since we didn't want to leave, we went into One Man's Dream which has the AC set at 32 degrees evidently and since we were so soaked we were then SUPER cold. That kind of did it for us because then we felt really icky. So we headed to the busses and back to our resort and it kept raining for a long time after that.

Bonnie - I'm so glad your back is better! It really worked to take it easy, that's awesome!!!! Yes, 5 weeks from right now we'll be at Disney (probably at the AMC movie theatre watching Eclipse - hahaha!)! Can't wait!!!!!

My dd broke her leg in two places and had to have surgery on it yesterday. We had to delay our trip by two weeks, so now we are going July 31-August 15. It's been insane dealing with this and then trying to rearrange our whole trip.

Wishing everyone a wonderful July trip. We'll be back on the July thread next summer! Now if everyone could send pixie dust our way that on top of everything else the hurricanes stay away!

I am so sorry to hear that! I can imagine how stressed you are right now. At least, you only had to delay, not cancel. Sending lots of pixie dust!!! Hope she heals quickly!!

Robyn, So sorry- that is horrible! I hope she recovers well and is a trooper through the process.
