Sorry I have to drop out of the "July" dissers thread.

My dd broke her leg in two places and had to have surgery on it yesterday. We had to delay our trip by two weeks, so now we are going July 31-August 15. It's been insane dealing with this and then trying to rearrange our whole trip.

Wishing everyone a wonderful July trip. We'll be back on the July thread next summer! Now if everyone could send pixie dust our way that on top of everything else the hurricanes stay away!

Oh your poor daughter! How awful right at the beginning of summer! Luckily it sounds as if the surgery was very successful if you're able to reschedule your trip so quickly!!! And I agree, you should stay right here because the 31st IS still July and everyone is so nice!!!!! Tell your daughter we hope she heals quickly!!!

ADRs are Advanced Dining Reservations.

We are not part of the DVC, but we are staying at the VWL the 19th to the 28th. Maybe we will pass each other somewhere along the way.

Welcome!! I have added you to the list on page 136 - if you do have any dining reservations (ADRs) Nikki can add them to the list that is also on page 136. It is fun to see if someone else is eating at the same place and time you are.

You must've been there the same week as us in July of 2008! It was EVERY day and non-stop torrential. We have some funny pictures. At first we were a little bummed and then we just went with it and made a big fun joke out of having to slosh through multiple inches of water everywhere we went. Hey, at least it made it a little cooler

We're in Epcot on the 4th. Would love to meet up. We'll have DD's with us so look for the blue decorated chair. Plus I'll try to find our lime green mickey heads from our DCL meet.

Would like to join in the July 4th Epcot meet if my 20 month old DD is cooperating and not throwing a fit about then! Would be interesting to meet people from other places joined in their mutual love of WDW!

Well, it's been raining here everyday and all I can think about is how much rain we may get at WDW!!!

What type of poncho's should we get? Cheap dollar store disposable kind? better quality Disney kind? or something in between?

I like the idea of using and throwing out at the end of the day, but will it do any good?

Not sure if I like the idea of using, packing up and reusing the other kind?

We once got stuck in a CRAZY downpour in AK and the ponchos were good for nothing! And they were the old ones from years ago...the quality has only gone down. I'm sure they are fine for a little light rain but for hardcore rain, they won't do! It might be too late now but I'd check disneyshopping for raincoats. DH and I bought raincoats for our trip last year. I'm the kind of person that only buys things when they are on sale so if that means I have to buy a year in advance, I will! So those exact raincoats are, I'm sure, not available anymore but they might have something.

We were so excited that there was the slightest drizzle one morning so we could use our raincoats!

The Disney ponchos are a pain to pack up and reuse. But, the dollar store kind do tear easily and are quite thin. I don't know how many uses you get out of each one, and you might end up spending more on them if it rains a lot.

Nikki - I love your raincoats - I had almost bought them and then poof, they were gone. I have not seen them back at the Disney store.

The thing I do like about ponchos is I can keep my bag underneath too. It is not 100% but it helps.




Speaking of rain, I don't know if I shared my tip - but this really works. If your shoes get soaked in a rain, stuff them tightly with newspaper overnight. By the next morning, they will be completely dry. This happened to us over spring break - our sneakers were totally soaked. I had read this tip somewhere so we tried it and to our amazement, it really worked.
