Hi, everyone! I will be at WDW for the first time ever July 24 to the 30th, and staying at the Wilderness Lodge. I am very excited! Been to Disneyland many times, but never WDW.

You must've been there the same week as us in July of 2008! It was EVERY day and non-stop torrential. We have some funny pictures. At first we were a little bummed and then we just went with it and made a big fun joke out of having to slosh through multiple inches of water everywhere we went. Hey, at least it made it a little cooler

I'm so glad your back is feeling better!!! Maybe you can go in for 1/2 a day tomorrow instead of a full day? I ended up going in at the end of school today to check on things - can't stay away, I guess - you know how that goes! Since I have 2 sections of French 1 and French 2 and the seniors are taking their exams early, my principal wants me to make different exams for all of these sections so I only got French 4, 3, and 2 done exams done today (takes forever!!). French 1 will have to wait until this weekend!
I totally understand about not wanting to leave your boys! I didn't start to do this until my DD was older and the second time, she came with us. It is a bummer giving up the breaks and what's really hard is that it's always bang in the middle of our rehearsals for our spring productions (big, splashy musicals). My poor kids who are both in the show and on the trip are usually rehearsing choreography while we wait for trains, etc.
Anyway, as each day of your recuperation goes by, you're also one day closer to Disney!!!
My back is SO much better today, thank goodness! It still hurts, but much easier to deal with it. I am going back to work tomorrow! I like your attitude...each day of recuperation is a day closer to Disney!! We leave in 5 weeks from today, and in 5 weeks from Tuesday we will be at WDW!

We were there from July 13-18, 2008. We arrived at Pop Century at 11 AM and checked in (room was ready!). We had lunch there and then took the bus over to MK for a half day there. We were having a great time, I used my plans from Tour Guide Mike so we didn't wait in any long lines (this was incredible!), and by 4:00 we were enjoying Mickey's Philharmagic after waiting only 10 minutes in line for it! Well, we come out of the theatre, and it is pouring! I mean coming down in sheets! The double stroller was soaked. We went and grabbed the stroller and ducked into Pinocchio Village Haus for cover. My younger son was only a year old at the time and not walking yet so we had to take turns carrying him. It kept raining so hard, and we had a dinner ADR at 5:00 at LTT! Finally when it was only lightly raining, we made a run for it. We had to put the baby back into the stroller which was still wet. We felt so bad for him, but we couldn't carry him that far. At least it was hot out so he didn't get chilly from the rain.
Then, a couple of days later we were at DHS and we had a very nice morning. DH had grabbed a FP for Tower of Terror (his favorite ride in all of WDW) and after we had finished everything we wanted to do, he wanted to ride it. It was about 1PM, then we planned to leave the park after he rode. About 3 minutes after he went in to the ride, I heard thunder. I saw big gray clouds. Both boys were falling asleep in the double stroller. I walked as fast as I can and went into the nearest store I could find. As soon as I got in there, I texted DH to tell him where we were, then it started pouring. About 15 minutes later, I got a text from DH that he rode the ToT and he is going to wait it out until the rain lets up. The store I was in was getting more and more crowded as I stood there reading Disney cookbooks, and my boys were fast asleep through all of this! It took about 45 minutes before it let up and DH texted me that he is gonna make a run for it, and then he met us in the store. By this time, we had bought ponchos but DH didn't have his with him, they were in the stroller which was with me! Anyway, it was still only raining lightly, boys were still asleep, we decided to make a run for the parking lot and go back to the hotel. We managed while it rained lightly. We had a dinner ADR at 6:15 that evening at 1900 park Fare. We left the room at 5:30 and it was still raining! It rained the whole time we were at dinner and into the night too.

We will be leaving for Florida on July 3rd, but won't be staying at WDW until July 9 - 16. It is our 1st time at FW! I am so excited!

My back is SO much better today, thank goodness! It still hurts, but much easier to deal with it. I am going back to work tomorrow! I like your attitude...each day of recuperation is a day closer to Disney!! We leave in 5 weeks from today, and in 5 weeks from Tuesday we will be at WDW!
We were there from July 13-18, 2008. We arrived at Pop Century at 11 AM and checked in (room was ready!). We had lunch there and then took the bus over to MK for a half day there. We were having a great time, I used my plans from Tour Guide Mike so we didn't wait in any long lines (this was incredible!), and by 4:00 we were enjoying Mickey's Philharmagic after waiting only 10 minutes in line for it! Well, we come out of the theatre, and it is pouring! I mean coming down in sheets! The double stroller was soaked. We went and grabbed the stroller and ducked into Pinocchio Village Haus for cover. My younger son was only a year old at the time and not walking yet so we had to take turns carrying him. It kept raining so hard, and we had a dinner ADR at 5:00 at LTT! Finally when it was only lightly raining, we made a run for it. We had to put the baby back into the stroller which was still wet. We felt so bad for him, but we couldn't carry him that far. At least it was hot out so he didn't get chilly from the rain.
Then, a couple of days later we were at DHS and we had a very nice morning. DH had grabbed a FP for Tower of Terror (his favorite ride in all of WDW) and after we had finished everything we wanted to do, he wanted to ride it. I am glad you are feeling better and I think it is a good thing to be cautious and take it slowly. 2008 must have been a rainy year......we were there from 6/26-7/10 and experienced a several episodes of torrential rain or storms. That was the first year we had to invest in ponchos!

Is anyone interested in setting up a Dis meet on July 4th at Epcot? Looking at the ADRs, there might be a break between the lunch and dinner crowd around 3:30pm. I was thinking France - there are benches near the canal just after you cross the bridge coming from England. It does not seem to get too crowded there and we can enjoy a Grey Goose or Grand Marnier slushie while we wait. My other thought was the area between the two gift shops up near the front of the World Showcase........any other thoughts or suggestions????

Yes definitely! We have lunch in France at 2:30 so we should just be getting out around 3:30. I think meeting down my the water near France is a great idea!

I think the next ADR in Epcot is 4:30pm so 3:30 seems to work between lunch and dinner ADRs. Ours is in Italy at 2:35pm.
