DO you know which hotel in Lumberton that you liked? I have a thread for hotels along the East Coast of 95--I want to add this.

Yes, I sure do remember...it's the Fairfield Inn (by Marriott) in Lumberton, NC right off of I-95, on Lackey Street I believe. Staying there again in July, both on the way down and on the way back up! Great breakfast there!!

You are right - it is Palm Coast - it was a very nice HI express - not a lot of restaurants close by but we went down the road just a little way and ate at the Flagler airport - it was not a fancy place, but very good - it was called Hijackers.

The hotels in St. Augustine that are close to the historic district are a little old and look run down. If you are staying at one right off I95 - those look fine. The historic area, is a tourist trap - all the tourist attractions cost at least $5-6 per person. We had to pay $6.00 to park in the historic area. I am not sure if you are planning on sight seeing - there are some neat things, but be prepared.

The Quality Inn was old and dated, a little run down. It was clean, but looked old, so it was kind of hard to tell that it was clean, if you know what I mean. The breakfast was very good though. Walterboro has a ton of hotels. Another area that looks really nice is Pooler, Georgia. It is just across the GA border heading south from SC. The places in between those two are a little iffy. What I do is go onto the Yahoo Travel, Travelocity etc and read reviews. I have been able to narrow down our designated "possible stopping places" that way.

OK, we're not doing any sightseeing in St. Augustine, we are just looking for a safe and clean place to stay overnight. We have the Hampton Inn booked (right off I-95). It got excellent reviews on Trip Advisor! So we will stick with that. The hotels in the historic district were more expensive and also less convenient to I-95. Same thing 2 years ago when we stayed in Savannah, we stayed right off I-95 for convenience and price, and we headed into the historic district for the day to go sightseeing and have dinner. But we have about a 6-hour drive (without stopping for lunch) from Lumberton to St. Augustine, so we plan to check into the hotel in the late afternoon, have dinner at the boys' normal dinnertime, and just relax at the hotel before going to bed. So as I said, as long as it is a safe area and the hotel is clean, I am not worried. Is St. Augustine right off of I-95 safe?

Hi! We will be there July 18 through the 23rd to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday! Can't wait!

Welcome! I added you to the list on page 126 - but it does not include your resort, if you want to post that I can add it later.

Oh my god, guys! Look at my ticker!!!!

:cool1::thumbsup2

I think the area right off I-95 was fine. If I am not mistaken, there may have been some outlet malls right there too. If you read good reviews, then I am sure you will be fine!

:rolleyes:Must. Not. Play. With. ADR's! :lmao:

So excited! Got our ME tags on Thursday, then yesterday we got the packet from WDW with the "What will you celebrate?" luggage tags. Also ordered and received our rewards card from Disney Visa. Woohoo--34 days!:cool1:

Here's a pic pic of us from last year. We'll look pretty much the same, except DS is now about the same height as DD:scared1:

Just had sort of a bummer! DH and I have been debating whether or not to switch to CL at the AKL and we decided today that it's not that much more with our PIN and to go for it, however, since we waited so long to decide, there aren't any available with our PIN :( Bummed out, but I guess it was our own fault ;)

Oh that stinks! But since you were debating that means that you must still really want to see AKL too. I know it stinks when you finally make a decision and it was all for nothing BUT maybe it's meant to be!

5 hours and 22 minutes now but who's counting LOL

Haha, I was thinking earlier today that tomorrow, we can officially say we will be there next month!!

DH and I are excited that we hit under the 40-day mark until we actually leave for the trip! We leave in 38 days!!!! Well, 37 and a half since we leave at 6AM but who's counting?! :rotfl:

Okay, this is going to sound completely insane, but is anyone else feeling the slightest bit sad that their trip is going to be over soon?

I know!! It's totally ridiculous! But I'm going over my itinerary and I just feel like 8 days isn't nearly enough time and I keep looking at the last day and getting so sad!

Please tell me I'm not the only one! I don't know what's wrong with me. :confused3

You're not the only one!! I feel like we have been building up to this trip for nearly 2 years and it will be over and done with before we know it! I am savoring this time right now...looking forward to it! Sometimes when I read the resort list or the ADR list here on this thread and I see people who will be there from the end of my trip until after we get home, I get a little envious. See, I'm all kinds of crazy!! :lmao:

I am very worried about the post Disney blues! I guess it means I will really have to figure out how we can go back in Jan. I already picked out dates; we will have APs. Two obstacles: not enough points and airfare $$. :sad2:

Haha! You guys are not alone! I do the SAME thing! We really anticipate it for so long and get soooo excited and then when it's over, what a huge let down! I dare not mention any of this to DH because he's completely unsympathetic and would only say "Well, maybe we just shouldn't go." or som such ridiculous thing. You all are my outlet!!!! Oh, and that is hilarious about "next month we're going to WDW!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Yes, I think I've lost it...

You are definitely not the only one! I have been thinking about this lately too. We do APs every other year, this is the year they will expire at the end of our trip. So, I know there is little to no chance we will be back before next summer, and then it will be most likely the end of July. So, yes - I am sad. That coupled with the fact, when we get back - DD only has about 3 weeks before band camp starts - and that means summer is almost over.

You are not the only one! Up until last night, I didn't know when our next trip was going to be and it was making me really sad that our trip was fast approaching and I was out of schemes, oops plans, for next year. Then last night on the way home from visiting my parents it hit me...My parents, sister, DS and I have a disney cruise booked for 4/17 (Week before Easter, spring break for DSis and DSon); DH does not want to go and he has to work. My plan - see if Dad wants to drive down (I would offer to help drive) then we could stay at a hotel near Port Canaveral, after cruise we could go over to Disney for 2 - 3 days and bam! a plan is formed!! Called my Dad today and it was almost too easy to work out the details. :cool1: Now I just have to break the news to DH, but he already knows he can't control me when it comes to Disney! :rotfl2: So I am sad that this trip is creeping up faster and faster and I am hopeful that my new scheme, I mean plan, will work out. :goodvibes
