Birds!! Wow! It was still pretty gloomy here most of the day. But, I see some 40s in the forecast!

I saw an amazing blue jay yesterday. The color on ground (surrounded by dirty snow and dead grass) caught my eye. It was shocking as I drove closer and discovered it was the blue jay.

Regardless of the snow, spring will be here before we know it. :cheer2:

You are right - birds are a sign of spring! That is very encouraging!!

We are down to 3 weeks before spring break - it is looking more likely that we will be able to "head south" to Disney in a few weeks. I am really looking forward to some warm weather! We just found out school has been extended until June 14.

Wow a blue jay - now that is really neat!

I heard there were robins in our area--haven't seen them yet, but it's a good sign that spring may be coming!:cool1: That means that July will be here before we know it.:dance3:

I think I am going to look for some birds tomorrow - this is very promising!

OH wow, I didn't realize you guys got out so much earlier than us, as it is. We don't have to make up any days (yet) but we're scheduled to go until the 24th!!

Good luck with your bird hunt today! :thumbsup2

Yes, I keep telling the kids they can't complain because they still get out earlier than a lot of schools, but it is late for around here. Not to mention, the state only requires 180 days but our district requires 182 - so it is frustrating knowing they really don't "have to" make up the last two. This stretches it out over a weekend too which is no fun.

When do you start school that you go so late? We start the end of August.

I will keep you posted on my bird watching!

We have lots of birds in Northern Virginia! I can hear them through my window right now and they come to my deck for the bird food we leave out. It's been great seeing them this past winter, esp on the huge snow piles we had on our deck.

I've seen robins, cardinals-male and female (most of the winter for these), morning doves - male and female, mockingbirds, blue jays, black birds (all winter) and sparrows (all winter) on our deck. We also see hawks and turkey vultures fly above us.

It's all pretty amazing, considering we live in the suburbs, not the country.

And of course, it means SPRING is soon HERE!!:cool1:

The sun is shining and I did hear birds today! I have not yet seen any - but I went for a walk on a path in a nearby park and I heard a lot. It was so nice to get outside and get some fresh air that is not frigid cold.

So glad you heard the birds today!!!

We started really late this year. It was after Labor Day, maybe September 9th or something...

Yes, it was nice to hear them. I think we need a little more snow melt before I will see any! Ok - we started August 26th. They also go 182 days no matter what, even though PA requires 180.

Hello fellow July travelers :wave2:

It's going to be in the 50's all weekend :cool1:
Maybe the rest of the snow will finally melt :rolleyes1

DD and I are celebrating the warm up with pedicures tomorrow morning. Spring is right around the corner and it's time to bring the toes out :cheer2:

Happy almost Spring everyone :flower3:

Evening July travelers just checking in with everyone! Im home with a little strep or a touch of bronchitis. :headache: hopefully these next 121 days will go by fast.
Have a wonderful weekend July peeps!
