*OFFICIAL* July 2010 Thread! It’s Hot. It’s Crowded. AND WE LOVE IT!

All excellent suggestions, Marshay!

I completely agree with getting there early AND drinking lots of water! DH and I can chug a bottle of water in less than a minute in WDW in the summer! And we never have to pee!! What's funny is the one time we went for a long weekend in the Winter, I was so surprised that I had to stop so often to go to the bathroom! I NEVER have that problem in the summer because my body is just trying to absorb as much liquid as it can, I guess!!

Another tip I have is to make the best use of Fast Pass. Get them early for the rides you really want to see. Also, don't try to do it all...it's impossible, even on the least crowded days. Decide what attractions are most important and make them a priority. The rest will just be a bonus!

Oh and make ADRs!! Especially if you are on the dining plan. You are already paying for you food, you don't want to get stuck eating at places that you really don't want to be or worse, wasting your credits!

We like the late lunch/early dinner ADRs for 2 reasons. First, they are usually the same food as dinner, but a lower cost. I try to book them around 2:30pm - 3:00pm. That is also a good time to get out of the heat and take a break. Sometimes we will go back to the room after we eat, and chill out for a few hours.

I completely agree! Plus it saves room for some snacking later in the day instead of trying to save your appetite so you don't spoil your dinner! :thumbsup2

You can add us we always do July DW is a teacher. Will be there the 25th to 28th at SSR after our yearly Wonder cruise. No ARD's yet will need at least one for my birthday on the 26th, maybe Teppan Edo. See you there.:yay:

Hi fellow July Disrs! :) DH is also tired of planning. I'm trying to plan for our family and my MIL and SIL's family. They think I'm nuts talking about where to dine seven months out. I have yet to admit to anybody that I've already started my spreadsheet.

We'll be staying at BWV 7/3-7/10. So excited, our first stay at a deluxe! Looking forward to learning great tips from past July visitors. We visited end of August a couple times but DH is convinced he can avoid tropical storms by going in July.

Oh isn't it funny how they just don't get it! They won't think you are nuts when you are there and have a place to eat already planned for them!

Let us know your ADRs once you have them booked!

I agree on the water thing. When we went in November we saved a LOT of money on water!! If you do get stuck and need places to eat, try some of the resort restaurants, like the Grand Floridian Cafe or Shutters over at CBR. These are sometimes easy to get "last minute" (just check with Guest Relations in the parks) and you can take a bus from the park to the resort and back. It also is fun to visit other resorts.

Sometimes it gets you out of the pesky afternoon rains too!

Feel free to talk about it here, I give the daily Disney update at dinner everyday and DH just rolls his eyes!!

You will love the Boardwalk, it is fun in the evening just to hang out on the Boardwalk and see some of the live entertainment. One of my favorite resorts!!

:thumbsup2 It is a great feeling to be booked. I loved the Poly last year. I almost wish we were going back there. I know what you mean, there is nothing like the summer heat in Walt Disney World. Now the thunderstorms, those can be impressive, and I like them when I am indoors at my resort!!

Hey! :wave2: I hear ya! I know all about planning a wedding and starting graduate school...I can't imagine doing both at the same time!! If you need any help with either thing, please let us know.

I updated the list and will help do that as well. Did I tell you guys I changed my trip to DLR? Its crazy over there...ADRs only 60 days in advance!!!!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Good news! I posted on the Restaurant board something about Paradiso 37 and not being able to make an ADR and someone posted a link to the company that you CAN maker reservations for Paradiso through! So I booked it for July 2 at 6:00pm! Wooo Hooo!!

July is definitely the time to stay hydrated! We spent way too much $ on water last time - I am going to an outdoors/sporting goods store this time and getting us a couple of water bottles. They usually have the kind with a filter in it, so we can just get water out of the water fountains all day. I hear the water tastes icky, so I'll throw some Crystal Lite or KoolAid drink packets in the bag too.

If you are in MK in the heat of the afternoon, try to find a cool place to go if you don't want to go back to your room - the Country Bears show, Tom Sawyer's Island (lots of shade), Pirates of the Caribbean (of course this ride will be more popular now than it was then!), It's a Small World, or duck into an ice cream shop with a/c and get a snack - all good places to beat the heat for a few minutes.

Also, a dry pair of socks and dry t-shirt around 4pm can go a long way!

I think you missed me! I'll be at the Poly July 19-25.

Good luck with the wedding planning and grad school!

We also love to ride the People Mover aka Tomorrowland Transit Authority to cool down and take a load off our feet. Other good ones are Mickey's Philharmagic and the Carousel of Progress, where DH sometimes catches a quick nap too.
