OFFICIAL JULY 2009 THREAD!!! The wait is on!!!

2 weeks from today, I will be keeping the kids up until midnight so we can hit the road and they will sleep! So, if we leave at midnight, does that count as 2 weeks from today??

Forgot to address this one!! ARE YOU CRAZY!!! Drive all night!! We did that one 18 years ago with a toddler in the car. Yeah... she slept alright.. but when we arrived, we were EXHAUSTED!! It was hard to enjoy the parks that day because we were SOOOO tired. But... here's the BIG BUT... we weren't staying on property! I know.. we didn't know or think we could afford it at the time. We stayed with a cast member who is a dear friend (he still works there---say hi to Eddie at Ft.W). He got us in free (one of their benefits) so we had to go in with him in the a.m. when he went work. Nearly no sleep!! I hope you're way younger than us cause we couldn't ever do that again! Make sure you switch off drivers and nap in he car. I won't even do that now and we have 4 drivers. We stay overnight in Georgia, and arrive fresh and ready in the a.m.

Next Friday, DW and I will be on the road, headed to WDW!

Hi everyone!!

2 WEEKS!!!

I can't get to sleep at night anymore .. thinking too much about the vacation! (btw too-excited-too-sleep, don't go over to the 'dark side' of the August board!)

Is it wrong that I'm jealous of people who arrive before and after me in July?!

I have been tracking the Virgin Atlantic flight we're going on every day on flighttracker.com ... lol! .. just to see if it's generally on time, early, late etc!!

Not much happening with DN situation.. although she is now asking her Dad & DBF's sister "why can't I go on vacation with you?" ...awww - i can't imagine her not being there with us! but gotta prepare for it, i guess


well done on catching that Credit-card fraud tink! i check my accounts sooo often, always paranoid i'll have my card cloned!!
i plan to phone my bank a few days before going to WDW.. let them know i'll be using my card abroad, and tell them not too block it! when i booked CRT in April, they were on the phone in minutes - telling me that my card had been used in Orlando... did i know?! , lol!!

A pox on DN's mom - or shall we just refer to her as Malevocent from now on.

We took adv. of the buy 4 get 3, but never expected to actually go. Now I am hurried to make reservations and I am working on a night out without kids... We are THRILLED to be going and I think my husband and I are more excited than the kids. Just found out about the boards and couldn't be more excited. Our kids (5 and 3) are thrilled, since we haven't been down there in 2 years. We are staying at CBR, but have become concerned because of so many negative reviews, but we are sticking it out because everyone has different experiences... Just the nutshell!

I was just in the bedroom showing my DH the new swim suits I bought and the Explorer sandals I bought at LLBean for our trip. Then suddenly, my DD6's BROKEN Its A Small World music box started playing all by itself!! No lie. She had shown me the music box about 2 weeks ago, and we tried to get it to work, but all it would do was spin the gears. We tried everything to get it to work, but we figured it was broken. It was just sitting on a step stool on the floor. Its a sign! Who do you think was making it work?

I pick my kids up from camp bright and early tomorrow morning. and then it will be exactly 2 weeks until will pull out of the driveway

I am at 12 days!! I only have 4 scheduled day to work but I will work some this weekend and next one as well. Gotta get as much done as possible so I won't have as big a mess when I get back. No one covers for me (except for emergencies) while I am gone. Lois

We have 4 weeks to go till our trip, and I swear if the sun does not come out soon here I am going to lose my mind!

July 23-28 at WL here. We're surprising our kids and not telling them till the night before we leave. Last night I booked the Pirates and Pals fireworks cruise. It sounds so fun! Can't wait.

are you like me...I'm afraid I'm going to get to disney and the bad MA weather is goign to follow me there!! LOL.

Yeah..pages and pages! I can't keep up - it's all getting much too exciting now!!!! I've passed 2 milestones that we were marking on "when Disney will be close" the kids finally got out of school on Tuesday and we had our Jimmy Buffett concert last night. Next milestones: DD (16) b-day tomorrow then the 4th and then it's time to go! It's coming fast!!!!

Well, this is our plan. DH will come home from work at 3:30 and go to bed. He can sleep anytime, anywhere.. I'll keep the girls up as long as possible. Brad's going to get to bed earlier this time, so I "think" we'll be okay. They don't ride well, so we'll see. We're planning on arriving around noon, and he'll nap by the pool while the girls and I swim. I'll probably be like Tom, too excited to sleep! We have a Chef Mickey's at 5, then just chilling out, watching the space shuttle launch from the Contemp, then heading over to poly. We have a Wishes cruise at 9ish, so fairly low key evening! We are splitting it up on the way back, so I can stay at WDW later!

Well, this is our plan. DH will come home from work at 3:30 and go to bed. He can sleep anytime, anywhere.. I'll keep the girls up as long as possible. Once he's got his 8 hours in, I'll get him up, we'll leave, then I'll sleep most of the way there. I hope it works. We did it last year going to the beach, except we left at 2. We have driven twice, non-stop (except for potty, food, drink, and gas breaks) and plan to do so again next month. We trade off drivers and try to nap. Our kids are now 8, 9 (will be 10 during our stay), and 12, so they are pretty good about being in the car. They will have their Nintendo DS's, books, and lots of DVD's to watch. Also, I take Dramamine with us because DS tends to get carsick every now and then.

When we arrive, it's usually early am and I am ready to go! DH is usually tired but he's a trooper and gets into the mood once we arrive!

Look back a few (?) pages, and there are pictures of the shuttle from various areas around WDW. The one from the contemporary looks cool, and from another thread the boat launch there was listed as a great place to view. We'll be there for Chef Mickey before.
