Are you sure? I have been hearing lots of people talk about this opening this fall (possibly Novemberish). Not trying to get anyone's hopes up, including mine, but I am optimistic this may be ready for a January 17 trip.

I have been hearing this actually. I hope it's up and available for fastpass next month. We arrive on the 16th, Fastpass day is approaching!

Jumping in to join to January crew ... hubby and I at OKW --- picked this time of year for quiet but urgh football! I've glanced thru this thread and just wanted to mention a few things that i can in fact confirm:
Star Wars fireworks will return on New Year's Eve. Disney however, only releases the dates for the party about a month in advance, there's a very detailed thread about it in the Theme Park Strategy section

The ProBall parade will be in MK on the Saturday before the game (28) but no confirmation on time yet.
There will also be a 5K marathon that weekend as well but no solid details yet. (sure we only need to make our ADRs at 180 days why would they let us in on tiny details like this with only 90-ish days???)

Not really new to the boards (I've been a stalker for a couple of years), but actually new to posting. We're booked for POP Jan 7 - 14th. Getting VERY excited for this trip! It will be DH, myself, DS1, DS2, DS3 & DD1 but we will be meeting up with my BIL, SIL, niece, MIL and FIL. The trip will be a surprise for our youngest two children, as well as my niece. But it will also be a surprise as the they also don't know that their grandparents or the other family will be there.

We are also really hoping ROL and the Galactic Spectacular will be operating when we're there!!
I was checking for the Galactic Dessert Party, and it has this message:

Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party will be closed due to seasonal holiday entertainment from November 14 through December 31, 2016. Please check back later for updates. In the meantime, enjoy these other Star Wars experiences.

I really hope that means it will be back in January!!

I see three FB groups for "WDW January 2017". I'm guessing it's the one that is ONLY "WDW January 2017", since one is for a different website (shhhhh) and the other is for the college program.

Also, I was creeping on your blog (from your signature). I haven't seen it announced anywhere as official, but if you pull up Kali River Rapids for that timeframe on MDE, it lists it as closed for refurb January 3 through late January 2017.

Is the best place to get relevant info in that thread in the first few posts that are updated? Or are there any specific posts anyone can point to where someone with inside info confirms the return of SW fireworks in January?

Got a PIN code mailer last week and decided what the heck, let's got to Disney World in January! It started as a long weekend plan, then I got the 6 days for price of 3 ticket deal from Southwest Vacations, so now we're going 6 days and I'm pulling the kid out of school for 3 days. How important is 8th grade really anyway? My husband and son went without me in August, so this time it's just me and my son (13). He seems to be the lucky one in all this vacationing!

Even though it's pretty easy to figure out based on my ticker, I tend not to provide exact travel dates for security reasons ... don't like announcing the house will be empty. Let's just say mid-end January, and we're staying at OKW. Can't wait for January to get here

So excited, we'll be there the last weekend in January till the 1st Saturday in Feb. We're not sure if we want to leave Friday morning and spend Saturday night in Daytona, then do an early check in on Sunday and hit MK mid day till closing at 10 pm.

Has anyone else noticed on Friday, January 13th WDW has extra magic hours listed for the morning at MK and HS? Is this in error? Every other Friday I have checked, HS has extra evening magic hours, not morning.
