Is anyone planning on doing the Villains party at HS?

I had thought about it, it really does sound like fun! But it's just too much for our family of six! Plus we'll be there with two other families, and I think the younger ones might be a little afraid of the villains.

:wave2: Got a PIN code mailer last week and decided what the heck, let's got to Disney World in January! It started as a long weekend plan, then I got the 6 days for price of 3 ticket deal from Southwest Vacations, so now we're going 6 days and I'm pulling the kid out of school for 3 days. How important is 8th grade really anyway? ;) My husband and son went without me in August, so this time it's just me and my son (13). He seems to be the lucky one in all this vacationing!

Sooo... POFQ 1/24-1/29

I just changed to Boardwalk Inn. :yay:

Hi everyone! I am joining you all in Jan...but I will only be going one night. That's okay, I have a week-long trip planned in July. Background: my 6yo wanted to stay at a hotel on the beach (local... S Florida) for her b'day instead of having a party. I booked a place 10 mins from us. Sadly, the weather was horrible last weekend and we had to cancel. My friend is coming to visit me in Jan, so we decided to head up to Disney and spend one night (14th). We will be at SSR. My daughter thinks I rebooked the local hotel, and we will surprise her when we wake up good and early and drive to WDW. It will be so much fun surprising here. We'll enjoy Sat at MK, and explore DS on Sunday. Quick trip, but fun no less. :)

It'll be our first time at Disney in the winter (usually go in the summer), so I've been at a loss when it comes to packing. We've usually just used ponchos, but would raincoats be more handy in January? I've read that it can a little chilly; but is a fleece enough? I'm sure I'm not the only one already thinking of packing!

Depending on where you are coming from. If you live in a northern state, fleece should be more then fine.
I prefer a rain coat to a poncho, but the poncho takes up less room

We are from New Hampshire and love the January temps. This year when we went it was in the low 50s at night and up into the 60s low 70s during the day. We had 2 rainy times, but the were not ll day events (15 min and done).
I pack a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans, tee shirts and a zip-hoodie for a "jacket". I have ponchos that roll right up small that we bring just in case.
I also bring newspaper to put in wet shoes, dries them nicely overnight!

I think the general consensus is you just never know what the weather will be like in January. Sometimes its short and t-shirt weather and sometimes its jeans a a sweater. We are from Canada and I remember being surprised at how cold it was last time we went in January. I was comfortable during the day to wear jeans and a t-shirt but at night I was actually cold enough to wish I had some gloves.

So do you guys think January hours will be extended? I've looked at the past few years during MLK weekend and hours were later. Hoping MK stays open past 9pm.

Now that January FP+ windows have opened for those going in the beginning of January, what are some new (or new-to-you) things you are looking forwards to doing??
I have a basic list of what i'm hoping to get fastpasses for (in just 10 days :scared1:) but it's now been over a year since I've been in the World and I don't want to miss anything new!!

Definitely getting a FP for the new Frozen ride!! Hubby hasn't seen it or the new Soarin either! So we'll get one for one Epcot day and one for the other Epcot day.

Always come prepared with a hat and gloves - January of this year was rough - and I am from MICHIGAN! It was literally 38 degrees at 8AM while waiting at the bus stop. Luckily we had layers, but, had to purchase gloves and hats which were NOT cheap at WDW!

I don't think so. Looking at last year's crowd calenders MK closed at 8 or 9 for the last week in January. Other then Sunday and Wed which is an EMH night

So glad my fast pass window opened up this morning! It's helping to take my mind off a very upsetting election. Got everything I wanted for fast passes. Frozen for both Epcot days! Super excited!!! It was rough having the last day of our vacation over the summer being the day before it opened. Just peering up at it over the barrier....lol. I am hopeful the weather will be better than last January. It was so cold. I was grateful I wore my winter coat on the plane because I sure as hell needed it in the parks. :dogdance:

We will definitely be trying to get FPs for the new Soarin and Frozen rides. They were both still closed on our last trip :( I'm also looking forward to trying out all the new restaurants that have opened up this year. Our last trip was in the fall of 2015 so there are a lot of new things!

Just booked a trip this afternoon! It was a last minute decision, literally 2 days ago my DH suggested a trip to Disney and today I booked it! We will be at the Caribbean beach resort January 14-20th. Me, dd, Dd14 and dd10. My youngest dd doesn't know, I'm hoping I can keep it a secret and surprise her at x-mas! Ds17 is opting out this time, he said he doesn't need to go to Disney again and would rather stay home! Got the dining plan for the first time so now I need to decide which parks we will be at each day and make dinner reservations, yay so excited!

We were there January 11-15 this year, and some of the days were SUPER cold in the morning and at night. The low temps were around 50 or so, but the wind chill made it feel so much colder! I think the temps are supposed to be a bit higher next year though, so hopefully it won't be as chilly! The only day we had rain was our last day, but it was a freak storm that brought A LOT of rain and a tornado warning. Most people were wearing ponchos, but they didn't seem to help much - everyone was soaked.

This will be our third trip, and our longest one yet, so this will be a huge trip of firsts! I think I'm most excited for our Crystal Palace reservation on our last morning. My sister's favorite Disney character is Eeyore and she's been wanting a picture with him since her twin got a picture with her favorite character, Pooh, on our first trip. She took a creepy stalker picture outside of CP (lololol) this January, so she's psyched to be getting one with him this time. I'm also really happy we'll be able to see Hall of Presidents before the change!

Yesterday was our FP+ day too! It took me a lot longer to book them than I expected because my mind kept wandering. It was weird feeling so sad while I was doing something that I'd been looking forward to for so long.

Me!! Jan 1-11 Coronado Springs. I want to so something fun for my Mum who will be with me. We've done MK and ST fireworks parties. Any thoughts on fun things. Villian party doesn't sound that exciting to me.

We are from WV and love the temps too. We would wear jeans and jackets, and then peel off the jackets for the afternoon if it got warm enough. Last Jan is was particularly cold according to the locals, but we loved it. Coldest temps were about 35 when we left the room in the morning, but most days it was between 40-65 the whole time we were there.

We saw rain for about 30 minutes one morning and it was very light. Research I have done shows very little rainfall in January on average. Heading again this year, and all we will take for rain are the thin plastic throwaway ponchos. The low risk for rain causes us to skip anything more.

Good luck and have fun!
