Official January 2016!!!

Booked air already 1/16-1/23. Thinking of staying 2 nights at universal and then renting points and staying on a DVC property 1/18-1/23. Is there a facebook group for Jan 2016 yet? I loved the Oct/Nov 2014 group when we last went. I'd love to do a memory maker share again also!

Yes, we have a FB group going! It's DIS WDW January 2016. A lot of us in there were also in the Jan 2015 group. Feel free to join us!

Right now the plan is 1/20-1/26!!! It will be DBF's first time with me, and my first time planning every aspect (usually mom does that). I'm over the moon excited, we've agreed that we are definitely going one of the last two weeks in Jan, just waiting to see what kind of packages come out now :cloud9:

Not much actual booking or reserving done yet, but the planning has begun for sure!

Our family of 4 will be at Wilderness Lodge CL 1/11-1/15. This is our second trip, and we can't wait!!!!

Getting excited.... SW flights open up at the end of the month and I'll be able to book my package on the 22!!! Yippie!!

Join us to the celebration everyone! Just booked the Poly Villas for 1/19/16 to 1/26/16! It'll be a first visit for my father-in-law and our newest addition (will be 15 months during this trip). Consider me EXXXXCCCCIIITTTTEEEDDDD!!

We will be in Disney World January 22-30. Getting married at the Swan on the 24th. I booked our flights with Southwest points and now I'm looking at hotels and packages. I hope package discounts come out sooner rather than later!

Hi, everyone!

We're going to be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter Jan 30-Feb 3 2016. We've done previous trips in April, Sept, and Oct but never over the winter. Am a little nervous about difference in weather but we're starting a new tradition now that our boys are older :)

*Sorry, totally new and don't yet know all the resort abbreviations = Port Orleans French Quarter would be POF? POFQ? Think I'll search for a thread with all of that info on it now...:surfweb:

Just booked POFQ for me, DH, DD8 and DS5 for Jan 29-Feb 3! Our first trip was last year at the same time, stayed in a Lion King room at AoA which was great as we had my 18yo step daughter with us and needed the suite! DH may end up not going, but since I was so eager to book, I did the hotel tonight through Disney. We'll see if I cancel and rebook with Orbitz to save some money when those rooms open up! Might be too lazy...:)

Hi, everyone!

We'll be there at the exact same time! :joker:

We loved that time last year. I didn't have a point of reference for crowds, but it felt great to me. Some decent planning and FP+ usage and we hit tons of stuff with very little waiting. Weather was great to us (we are NYers) - tshirts and capris/shorts - though I've heard it can get colder so we had jackets and long pants if needed. The kids did swim in the pool one night. I had a cocktail with Nemo and just watched! :drinking1

I see there are people here that have gone in January in the past...Is Splash Mountain always closed in January for refurb? We went February 2014 and it was closed. My daughter will be super bummed if she can't ride it again. It was her favorite back in 2012.

Splash was closed last January. There's no way to know now, but I'd guess that they close it in Feb. this year. Your experience would back up the theory of February closure in even years and January closure in odd years.

Just got our Incredibles mailer which made me :yay:, but then I saw our FP+ date is Nov 30 and I'm .

Yes, we couldn't even book a FP+ leading up to our MK day (Feb 1) b/c of the Jan closure. I saw them finally open up around the 28th so it must have been done a little early. We ended up waiting about 25 minutes standby mid-day.

Hmm...we are doing an afternoon on arrival day at MK (1/29) and I planned to FP+ BTMRR, HM & 7DMT - family favorites and we need to get in and out for an ADR around 6:45. Maybe I'll need to do Splash since we might not get it in on our full day Feb 2...hopefully DD will accept 2x in a row on BTMRR instead of once each day...

We're going to be at WDW again January 17--23. We last went in October 2014.

I booked at Pop Century but I may upgrade the reservation after discounts are announced in October.

:)

Does anyone know if Kali River Rapids closes during January, like Splash Mountain seems to do so often?

Just rented DVC points @ the Poly for 1/30 - 2/5! First time renting points, but for our group, the savings was too hard to argue! Across 4 rms, we will save almost $2000 compared to SPD (PSD?) rates from last year.

Really hoping Splash is open for at least one ride. It is the only ride DH requested on our 2014 trip & it didn't happen.

Airfare secured for 9 of 10 people, went to book the 10th, and the price had gone up $120! There is only one flight I want her on for arrival and departure. Do I wait it out to save money or just suck it up & book the thing? It is Delta out of Cincy FWIW.

Rainboots, are you trying to get everyone on the same flight? Or are they coming from different airports and meeting up at WDW? If you're trying to get everyone on the same flight then I'd just do it now. Delta out of Cincy can be all over the place price-wise (we live in the northern Cincy suburbs.) I was just looking at flights from CVG to Orlando for the end of Oct and on one date the one-way fares range from one at $372 all the way up to two at $814 with one other at $937 (all coach class.)

$120 is a lot but worth it if you know this is what you want your trip to look like and helps make things easier. Good luck!

Thank you! The other 9 of us are flying out of Flint, MI. But I would like us to be able to meet my aunt from Cincy at the airport & ride DME together. I think I will just take the hit & book. It is giving me anxiety & I will save $140 by getting park tickets thru UT, so it will be a wash!
