*********OFFICIAL January 2015 Thread - COME CHECK IN!!! ***************

My package arrived today! I am so excited!! What a nice tote bag we received. I expected one of the plastic totes, but this is a nice insulated tote with a zipper and pockets. I am confused about one thing. I know, only one? Lol. With our documents we received one Extra Magic Hour voucher that listed the days available for each park. It says it is good for one day at one park for one adult. I thought if we were staying onsite we could enter the parks early every day (on the day available in whichever park). Would someone please explain this for me?

I second this, I thought EMH was every day of your on site stay

I was reading a new article about the new Frozen additions starting on January 7th. Most of the information is already out there, but news of a snow slide, etc was news to me.

"IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES": The limited-time "immersive experiences" will include a sing-along celebration -- of course, because everyone knows "Let It Go," and "Love Is an Open Door," and the troll song by now -- and Olaf's Snow Fest, which will include a snow slide and a visit from the sunny-smiley snowman himself. And will Anna and Elsa bid farewell to Disneyland's Fantasyland and make for this new adventure? They shall indeed. An evening family dance party -- "Freeze the Night!" -- will also rev up, or down, rather, in the park's Hollywood Land. (We say "down" because a giant thermometer will record the drop in temperature.) A store brimming with merch -- hello, Elsa's diaphanous cape-cool dress -- and other cinematic touches are set for their wintertime bow.
AND TWO MORE SWEETNESSES? A nod to "Frozen" will appear on the Storybook Land Canal Boats, so be on lookout for the kingdom of Arendelle, in miniature. And Olaf's Frozen Ice Rink is open in Downtown Disney through Feb. 22, 2015.

My family is Frozened out, but will probably stop by on our weekday DCA day on 1/12. I am guessing many APs will want to check it out before school starts again on the 12th. We will be at DCA on the 11th and just plan to avoid that area entirely. I wonder if the dance party will be weekends only.

They haven't added any Frozen info on the calendar yet. :/

OOOHHH - keeping fingers crossed praying to the small world elves to start there take down a little late this year

Just to give proper credit and include a link, the text that Halloweenqueen posted above came from this article on the NBC Los Angeles/Southern California website:

January Debut: "Frozen Fun" at Disneyland Resort -- by Alysia Gray Painter; posted on December 16, 2014

The snow slide was mentioned in the Disneyland News Press Release that I linked in the Disneyland at Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread a couple of weeks ago, and linked in the separate thread about Frozen Fun. Here is the link to the Press Release:

"New, Live ‘Frozen Fun’ Opens at Disney California Adventure Park Jan. 7, for a Limited Time" -- Disneyland News press release; posted on December 5, 2014

Guess there will be coal in my stocking this Christmas! ;). The article I read last night was posted on the 16th. Must have been a reprint. I didn't snatch it from the super thread. Honest. :D

Huh? :confused3:rotfl2: You misunderstood, or I wasn't clear in what I was saying. I know the article was posted on the 16th. Hence, my first link above -- which references that it was posted on the 16th.

What I was doing -- because you copied the author's text and didn't credit her or the site where you got it from -- was giving her credit and linking people to the article that you read.

Also, you mentioned that the snow slide was news to you. I was pointing out that it had been mentioned in the Disneyland News press release before (back when the Frozen Fun announcements were first made) -- and the press release was linked in the Frozen Fun thread and in the Superthread -- meaning that I thought you would have already read about the slide when the info first came out, instead of just now. But I guess it was probably overlooked by a lot of people, if they read the press release at all.

I am completely Frozen'd out but I'm sure Olaf's Snow Fest will be fun, though it probably won't have as much snow as people may expect.

Splitting hairs, but the paragraphs I took from the article was actually the Disney press release, hence her and my quotation marks.

I have been checking out the web in hope of a F! Dessert party review. Nothing. I wonder how successful the dessert, meal on the go, and dinner parties have been. I am sure many guests have reserved for the busy holidays, but January?

I did find a Disney stock photo of the dessert plate. Cute, but at $30 questionable. Wish we had more information about the included entertainment and viewing area.

The NBC author wrote her own article. She did not quote or copy any paragraphs directly from the press release.

I don't want to derail the January thread with this so, the point is, if you (or anyone) are going to copy and paste text (or photos) from someone's article, blog, press release, website, thread or otherwise, please be sure to include the link and the name of the site where it can be found, and/or the author who wrote it. :)

Carry on with the January planning!

204charity --

If you know of any other January events happening that are not on this list that figment_jii is compiling -- HERE -- be sure to let her know so they can be added in. Figment_jii is trying to keep track of all of the events and school breaks (lesser known and well-known) throughout the year, which may or may not impact crowds. It seems like someone is always saying that there is a school break of some sort, or there is always a special "Day" popping up (Dapper Day, Bats Day, RaverDay, etc.) -- and it's hard to keep up with all of them unless they are in one convenient place!

Wish I could say I knew - but to be honest, I don't! :confused3 If anyone specific that they want me to add, please let me know by private message. Thanks!

I agree - I always was told you had early entrance every day?

I have to call tomorrow to update my reservation for the end of Jan, so I will ask and then let you know what they say.

Oh, by the way, my daughter and I and my friend and her daughter are heading down for Homeschool Day. We will be there Jan 22-25, staying at the DLH.

I'm so excited to see my daughter and her best friend enjoying Disney together! Not to mention the fun I will have with my friend. January is shaping up to be quite a month for me!

Just have to say I'm kind of bummed so many rides will be down. I knew some would be down when I booked but REALLY

I was surprised they started so many before Star Wars 1/2 weekend, like many others I knew there would be some but not that many. As a First time DL , I am mainly bummed about Matterhorn and WoC, HM stings since it's my WDW fave but I keep telling myself It means I can plan another trip in the future.

Everyone who buys a 3 day or more ticket receives an early entry day for DL. The tickets are generalized. But the resort hotel stays list their info separate. That you get EE each day. You need your room key and tickets to to get EE at the gate Su, M, w, F at DCA and T, Th Sa at DL.

We have two stays coming up within the next six months. First one is January 30th through February 1st. Traveling this trip is me (56), DH (54), DS (35), DDIL (34), DGD (6 mos) also going with is DIL's parents. This trip we are staying at the BWPP right outside front gate and within walking distance of restaurants outside of the parks.

We have made one dining reservation for a Character Breakfast at the Plaza Inn for the 31st. No transportation issues for us, we live about 2 hours north and will be driving. We'll be able to just park the car and leave it.

Our second trip will be in May, just DH & I. We will be staying at the Grand Californian using our Disney Vacation Points. Our first stay there and I'm so looking forward to it.

Countdown is on!!!!!! This time on January 26th will be on a plane heading to see Mickey..
Hooray

We are there Jan 30! just a one day trip since we are local and my kids have no school. But it will be the first time for them to ride a lot of rides since the last trip was a peak day.
