Official inaugural Tower of Terror 10 miler thread. September 29, 2012

I went out at 1pm, when the temperature was around 70. I'm trying to stay acclimated to the warmer temperatures. I'm also testing more food in my system. I usually run first thing in the morning. The run did not go well. My knee staarted hurting first thing. Probably, since I ran yesterday with my DH. I try not to run two days back to back. Then my shorts bugged me, I started out to fast and it continued from there. It was just one of those runs and not my typical Monday workout. Only seven more until TOT10Miler.

So....My DS is a huge Stich fan and we collect Stitch pins, so I love the pin! So glad we pre-ordered one.

I haven't been able to stop by here lately, life has become crazy and it's affecting my training and free time. Is there a picture of the pin for the race? Can someone repost it for me?

I went on my longest run yet, 11.36 miles yesterday. I had issues along they way which I wasn't prepared for: The bunion I have new insoles for started to really hurt around the 1/2 way mark. It didn't hurt as much when I was jogging, but I was struggling to keep the jogging going. I have noticed around the 5-6 mile marks I suddenly drop my jogging pace. It's all mental, but I find myself stopping just a little short of the minute mark. (I do 1:1 ratios) That happened last week when I did 10 miles too. I also noticed my left heel was hurting, so I ended up walking for a bit to try to figure out why and how I was moving that was causing the pain. Then around mile 7, I started getting hunger pains. I obviously didn't eat enough before the run! I ruled out another type of chews, they were too chewy and hard to get down while running. If I ever decide to try any more new fuels, I will make sure I take the ones I know will work...just in case. It was a long 11 miles with the chewy chews.

Thank you again for the support and feedback. I try to read the posts, though .

I'm sorry about your pain and hope you can work through the things that are bothering you. You had a great run despite everything! Over 11 miles is awesome! Come race time, I really think the excitement of it all will get you through the rest.

I suffer from black toenails a lot - more when I am doing hills work due to the downward pressure on my toes from my shoes going back downhill. I handle mine a bit differently than going through the nail - I couldn't do it controlled enough for me and was worried I seriously stab myself. I actually use a sterilized needle and go from the front of the toe under the nail. When it is black or red with blood and fluid the nail bed is puffy and swollen and you can get in there and make an exit hole. By pressing on the nail, the excess fluid/blood can come out and your body can start to repair the nail bed. It doesn't hurt, or is nearly painless, and immediately your toe feels better.

I have worked as a camp nurse for a few years and I would :lmao::happytv: (sorry my 5 year old likes me to insert smilies) have to agree that feet are disgusting.

After a full night of cooling down I went out a 6:45AM today with temperature at 80F and humidity at 85% so make sure you try to keep on acclimating yourself by wearing full sweats :lmao: in those cold temperatures.

I know, right. Today and tomorrow it's 80's. Then the extended forecast appears that it will be harder to maintain training in warm weather.

2 weeks and 2 days! I can't wait! :) I was signed up for just the 10 miler but the other day I signed up for the 5K too! See you all there!

:banana::banana::banana:

So I see that runner tracking will be available for the TOT... but where the heck is it online?! I can't find anything anymore, since runDisney updated its site.

I'm betting they just haven't posted it yet...I didn't find it either. Maybe there will be a link in the actual Final Race instruction email. :confused3 I figured that would go out today since they posted the link to the program and the instructions (again)...the link for the instructions was missing on the website the last several days.

For last year's Wine & Dine and Marathon Weekend this year, it was just before the event that they released the run tracker info. I signed my people up at the expo.

The official race program is up on the runDisney site! :cool1:

Link ? can't find it for some reason.
Do you know if there is some kind of Email I should be getting with wavier, instructions Etc... I have received nothing from rundisney since registering

Thanks

you should have received a couple since registering just with race info and stuff...I have not, but I know they've gone out...happens to me about every other Disney race I do :) They've yet to send the final email, that I know of...but should any day now. All of the info is on the runDisney website though...at least what's available so far. If you go there you can download and print your waiver, download the final race instructions and the official race program. You may as well do that since it sounds like you probably won't receive the final email with the links to all of those since you haven't received any of the other emails. (I think there have been 2...separate from the registration confirmation and payment receipt you should have received right after you registered)

Anybody else notice that the Wine and Dine is not listed for 2013? The very back page of the race program lists upcoming races through 2013 but no Wine and Dine. Hmmm......

Probably because they're waiting til it gets closer to this year's race to announce the date for next year's. I can't imagine that runDisney would do away with such a popular event!

If any ladies are still looking for a last minute costume, I saw the coolest running skirts, the evil queen and Queen of Hearts skirts (Sparkle Tech)~ along with other way cool fabrics and colors perfect for the ToT race on the Sparkleskirts website. They are pretty expensive, but everyone talks about how great they are comfort wise for longer races AND they are just too cool!

You can even pick your order up at the Expo, they are one of the vendors.

Oh bummer!!!!! I settled and bought a raw threads tank 2 nights ago :( And I was looking at sparkle skirts that day too and these weren't up yet!
