Official inaugural Tower of Terror 10 miler thread. September 29, 2012

I have a question. Maybe some of you who have done the races before can answer. How will I be able to get back to my resort afterwards? The end party ends at 3:00 AM, will there be Disney buses running that late, or taxis available? I won't have a car.

There will be busses available back to the host resorts, but if you are staying elsewhere, I think taxis should be available. We took a taxi back to our hotel last year after the Wine & Dine half and after party. There were plenty there waiting in the parking lot.

Thanks. Taxi it is.

94% full. I was able to purchase pins. I was an early bird. Maybe more will be come available for ordering at a later date. Maybe, you could call.

Welcome - You can do this! You will have plenty of time to train. I am a run/walk Galloway girl and highly recommend his methods.

You can get some local race experience before hand. There are TONS of races in and around Columbus you can check out.

Where in Columbus are you? I am a Worthington girl. I LOVE Highbanks for my training and Premier Races for my racing locally.

I live in Dublin~ the Columbus area races are awesome!
We have a lot of running/bike paths but most are pretty flat. I love the idea of Highbanks to give a little more conditioning to a run. We hike there a lot but I've not thought of running. Thanks!

Tonight I got my first "official" training run in!! I haven't run very much since I did the Princess back in February, so I got 4.5 miles in tonight :thumbsup2 Also did a few sprints to work on my speed!!

Here we go!! I can't wait!!

I haven't run much since the Princess either and just signed up for the ToT10! Time to dust off the running shoes again!

Wow! Good for you! I just finished a 4 mile walk/run in 70 minutes. I know I have a long way to go. I just got some new shoes and I couldn't do anymore than 3 miles because my feet hurt. I was happy to do 4 miles!

For those runners out there, is 4 miles in 70 minutes okay? I know for me to do 10 miles, I need to be under 2:40, but am I on the right track?

Thanks!:thumbsup2

The min pacing requirement is 16 min/mile. Your 4 miles in 70 minutes is closer to 17:30 per mile. You are on the right track and have plenty of time to get to at least 16 min/mile! Great start!!

Trying to get DH excited and maybe considering costumes. I had a great idea this moring...Ghostbusters!

Happy training everyone :)

Thanks!! I am nervous about 10 miles! I need to run more during my training. I am working on building my stamina and I go to Zumba 5 times a week.

I think I am going to wear a Minnie Mouse costume during the race :)

I just registered as well, but I could not get a pin. They said they were unavailable. I have never had that happen before but then I never signed up at over 90% full. Were the early signer-upers able to get one?

That is strange, I registered just a few hours before you and I was able to get the pin (and my sister as well, registered her too with pin).

I hope they're cute! Does anyone know what they look like?

DD and I went to DL a few years ago and wen to their version of a Halloween party, and there were a group of people dressed up: 3 ghostbusters and the female as Dana!! Their packs were homemade and incredibly detailed!

I went back in this morning and tried to get the pin and this is what I get

"Attention! An option selected for "Would you like to purchase a 2012 The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Commemorative Pin?" is not available.
Attention! We're sorry, there are 0 The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Commemorative Pin remaining"

The two years I ran the Princess 1/2 it was sold out, but they had pins for sale at the expo, hopefully they will for this race too!

Disney Runner...you might want to go ahead and sign up if you're still interested in running. Per Run Disney on Facebook yesterday the race is something like 94% full already.

Just so you don't miss out if you're wanting to do it!

I've been putting it off and putting it off. My friend texted me and told me that so I quit procrastinating and registered so I wouldn't miss out on a bib.

Hoping there will be pins at the expo. Not holding my breath there will be a ton of extras though.

Isn't Zumba awesome?? I love going to Zumba :thumbsup2 When I was training for the Princess, I counted my Zumba as my cross-training activity, and will do the same as I train for the TOT!!

A little OT - did you see the article in Men's Fitness about Bedo, the creator of Zumba? I didn't buy the magazine (I'm too cheap, I just stood in the line in the grocery store and browsed thru it lol), but they had a chart in there that listed all sorts of activities and calories burned, I think they said that an hour of Zumba can burn like a couple thousand calories!! It was cool to see the comparisons in there!

I ran 9.01 today. It was my long run this week, for a half marathon in June. I have yet to register.;)

Someone just posted on FB that it's showing 97% now...I wouldn't wait!
