Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

We stay @ VWL often but have never eaten @ FW Trails End. Wanted to try it for late dinner (8 or 9 pm) on a Saturday in October, then catch boat back to WL.

Thinking if we are @ MK boat launch an hour early will be good to go even if we just miss a boat.

Getting back to WL is where I'm confused

Every time we've gone to HoopDeeDoo the weather has turned foul for the return trip and we've been bused back to WL which seems to take forever with loops thru the campground back to pick up more folks @ HDD each time.

MK will be open to 10 pm with EMH till 12 am that night. Does anybody know if the boats normally will be running either back to WL or MK? from 9:30 pm to 10:30 pm at the latest that night?

Yes, the Blue Launch to CR & WL runs until 11:30 p.m.

The Green Launch from FtW to MK runs until 90 minutes after MK closing.

Sorry for the ignorant question... this is our first trip to walt disney world. what is the best way to get from port orleans french quarter to magic kingdom and to animal kingdom. We have character breakfasts at 8:00 and 8:10 (both are before rope drop/opening). Do the shuttles work this early? How early do we need to leave? Also, since I am bothering people with so many questions already... is the travel time between parks huge? We have park hoppers and are planning to switch most days so there is one park most morning and another evening. Is this a waste of time?
Thanks from the newbie!

Be at the bus stop no later than 7 a.m. Disney has early breakfast buses but they don't stop as often as later buses.

Thank you!!! I also read I am supposed to tell the hotel concierge the day before (or earlier) and they will let transportation know... apparently they have some shuttle/bus early in the morning that are just for character breakfasts. Has anyone else heard of this?
Thanks again!

It's not really necessary. The buses will run whether there are any Guests to pick up or not.

As for travel time between parks, it should be no more than an hour, gate to gate. That includes walk time, wait time, and time on the road (or monorail beam.)

Nope, hotel concierge has no idea what is going on as far as transportation goes. Buses start running by 6:30am...every morning, from every resort, to every park. These buses tend to run less frequently than regular buses do, so if you just miss a bus, you may face a 20+ min wait for the next one.

I don't know about POFQ, but when we stayed at SSR I called down to BS to arrange for a taxi early the next morning. They suggested that one of their van drivers could take us. We took them up on the offer, tipped the driver the approximate value of a cab ride - then made arrangements to do so for our early morning trips for the remainder of our stay. We simply had to call down the night before or early in the morning. It worked out well for the driver & us.

So glad I found this forum and thread! I tried reading for my particulars, but it's LONG! I also never knew that the OLP transportation wizard was known to be inaccurate until reading so here - is that still the case?

My transport Q: have 5:45 dinner at Boma after a planned day in the AK park, I assume I won't make it back to AK before a 7pm close. What is the best way back "home" to Pop Century using Disney transportation?

Some of my party are staying at the Grand Floridian and could choose either car or Disney transport for this AK/Boma day. How should they travel? I thought Disney bus to AK, bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner, bus back to MK after dinner & monorail home?

It's been many years since I used a car on Disney property - is it easy to find your way from resort to resort, resorts to parks, DTD, etc? Is the signage adequate and/or GPS useful?

Bus to DHS if it's open, otherwise Epcot. Avoid transferring at DTD whenever possible.

That would be the way using Disney Transport, except from MK to GF the boat would probably be faster (if the weather's nice.)

We have dinner reservations at Chef Mickey's in a couple weeks and want to play miniature golf afterwards. We don't care if it is the Fantasia or Winter Summerland courses. What is the easiest way to get there? Is there transportation back to Port Orleans when were are done?
