Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hi everyone!

I'm going to WDW with a large group (8). On one of our MK days, my goddaughter and I are splitting apart from the group and headed to Downtown Disney to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Our reservation is at 1. What is the best way to get there, and how long should I leave to do it?

Thank you for your help! I'm totally new to the whole Disney experience!

1) Is it still true that we can catch a bus from AK to DHS directly?

2) About how long does it take the boat from MK to Fort Wilderness (any stops between)? Is there a bus from MK to Fort W?

3) Does the boat go from Fort Wilderness to Wilderness Lodge? Is boat from WL to MK nonstop?

4) Is there a bus from WL to MK?

Thanks!

Follow signs to DTD. That will take you onto Epcot Center Dr. When you exit off Epcot Center Drive, go straight thru the 2 traffic lights (don't turn left towards DTD.) You will then be on the entrance road to Bonnet Creek.

Thanks! :)

I would walk over to the CR...via the sidewalk that runs beneath the monorail line...takes under 10 mins. Hop on the bus to DTD from there. I would leave at least an hour from start to finish...buses to DTD are notoriously inconsistent. So, that would have you leaving MK no later than noon.

1.Yes.

2. The boat will probably stop at WL first...total trip is under 30 mins. I can't say for sure if there is a bus from FtW to MK...probably is. But it would mean taking an internal bus from the dock area.

3. There should be. I know that the boat runs from the WL to FtW..not sure how it works from FtW to WL. I believe the boat runs MK, WL, FtW, MK. But again, it's been awhile...so not sure.

4. I believe there is a bus from WL to MK

2. a) Sometimes the boat to FtW stops at WL; sometimes they run separate boats to FtW & WL.

b) There is no bus service between MK & FtW, except when the boats are shut down due to weather (which is rare.) If you want to avoid the boats, you can take a bus from MK to WL, and transfer to the bus from WL to FtW.

3. a) Yes. Boats run in both directions on the CR-WL-FtW route.

b) See 2.a above. If the combined route is running, the boat will stop at FtW.

4. Yes, there is a bus between MK & WL. Sometimes is will stop at CR on the way.

Joel.....is there a reason there is a bus from WL to MK but not from FtW to MK? That doesn't make sense to me at all. Just curious

I would just be guessing. Management usually doesn't tell us why they do things the way they do.

But bus to WL and then transfer to MK is the "official" alternate transportation for Guests who can't or won't ride the boats. It's been that way for the 7 years I've been with the company.

Perhaps they assume that a huge percentage of guests at FtW have their own vehicles. Who knows....I was just curious. I've always wondered why this was the case.

Possibly a consideration.

Or it may just be a budgetary decision (who's willing to allocate the funds.)

Or just the way things developed over time, the Lodge being much newer than the Fort.

MK day. Plan on getting on early bus from BCV for 8am CP. Do we need to hit 6:30 or would heading out at 7 be okay? Never stayed at BCV before. How far is walk from villas to bus stop?

Planning on MNSSHP that evening so thinking we need mid daybreak. Need to be back for 5:30 LTT. So - round trip MK to BCV, realistic time with buses? Wondering if this is a day where cab makes sense on way back later? I usually use a taxi 1-2 times when it makes sense - is this one of those?

Thanks!

Any word on the opening of the second bus stop at DTD. We are going in December and I will deal with being dropped off at the marketplace, but may consider taking cabs.

If I do take cabs, can I grab them at any place other than the marketplace stop?

I expect the new bus depot will be one of the last things to open. It's right in the heart of the construction zone for the Disney Springs expansion.

The taxi stand by Cirque du Soleil is still open, in addition to the one by World of Disney. I don't know whether taxis are waiting there during the day, or just in the evening.

These early morning buses tend to come less frequently than the regular buses do. So, if you get there at 7 and just miss the MK bus, the next one might not get there until 7:25ish. Still rime to get to MK, but it could be stressful. I would try to get to the stop a bit before 7...just in case. It's a quick walk to the bus stop....under 5 mins, probably closer to 3 mins.

The time spent on the buses could total 2 hrs...both ways, including wait times. A cab from the CR might be a food idea.

Taxi stand by Cirque would be great! Our ADR's are all in the evening anyway. Good to know and Thanks!

How to get from AS Music to waterparks and back? going in August.

I think I've read where you would have to take a bus to DTD and then transfer to your resort hotel when come backing from TL after 2pm, but now they're transferring through Epcot correct?

What about BB? Is the same thing happening with BB buses? I kind of remember BB sharing a bus with AK a few years ago. But this what is in Jan so I'm not sure if this is always the case.

what is the best way to get to DTD for a 9:30 BBB from AoA? And how much time should I allow?

Thanks!

Buses are available from AoA to DTD starting around 8 a.m. You should allow 1 hour, as the bus will probably stop at TL on the way to DTD. Travel time could be around 30 minutes, and wait time up to 20 minutes.

You can also take a taxi, if you prefer. Travel time might be around 15 minutes; I would allow 30. Taxis are available at the Porte Cochere.

Yes .. as you described, is as it is for TL.

Buses run direct from the resorts to TL from about 1 hour before opening until about 11 a.m. Between 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., buses run direct but may stop at DTD before TL. After 2 p.m., all Guests must transfer at Epcot when traveling to or from TL.

Because the All-Stars are so close to AK, stopping at BB would double the travel time. So instead of sharing the AK bus, there is a dedicated shuttle between the All-Stars and BB. The shuttle starts 1 hour or 30 minutes before BB opening (not sure which), and runs until BB is closed and empty of Guests. Wait time can be up to 30 minutes (it's supposed to be less, but the single bus running shuttle service often gets bogged down by large groups traveling together.)

thank you. I was planning on going to TL, but maybe BB will be easier and faster to get to/from.
