Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Ah - you're right. I was thinking of the boats that go between DHS and Epcot, with stops at the Swan, Boardwalk, etc. Thanks!

Love your avatar pic by the way. :)

Friendship boats go across World Showcase lagoon and also between YC/BC-Swan/Dolphin-Boardwalk-Epcot-Studios.

You can take a bus to DTD, but if you can get to either of the Port Orleans resorts, the little river cruise to DTD is quite scenic and relaxing. I stayed at POFQ a few years ago and really enjoyed doing that!

Hi,

Is there an index for this thread? The search function isn't getting me what I need but I'm hoping that I don't need to read through all 80 pages of this thread, either, so maybe someone can help me? :)

How would I get from DTD to Boardwalk in the afternoon? Friendship Boat? Bus?

Thanks!
You've already gotten good info here. So, I'll just add that you can ask any question you need to ask. Don't worry about repeat questions/answers here. It's never an issue!!!

Need Help. We are going during spring break and i could only get a 8pm res for 1900 park fare. Is there any way I am going to be able to make it any of the night time shows? I have park hoppers. Main street elctrical is at 11pm, wishes is at 10pm. Or should I forget the shows and just head over to HS for EMH :confused3

Let me start by saying I recently was at WDW and I am still confused about what the exact changes to the resort monorail schedule are, due to construction between the GF & Poly. I would double check with a transportation cm that day if possible to get the most up-to-date info. I waited one day at the Poly for about 30 min for a resort monorail while 4 to 5 express trains went by. The cm at the Poly made no announcements and I didn't ask, as I just arrived on property & didn't know there were issues.

My idea would be: explain to your server your plan and ask to have your bill maybe 20 or 30 min before you intend to leave (unless you are going to continue to order alchoholic beverages -not sure if they have them there -that's the only thing that would change your total since it is a buffet). I've always had great service, but just in case your server gets tied up you won't be waiting to settle your bill. If you take the monorail from GF the next stop is MK. If you take the boat, the most I would think your travel time would be is 40 minutes. (20 to wait if you just missed one and 20 for travel time and docking) I'd bet on the monorail.

If you arrive and there is a 9:00 MSEP it should be done in Town Sq by 9:25 at the latest. If it is in progress, or "The Magic, The Memories & You" (MMAY) is then stay on the right hand side of Main St and go through the stores starting with the Confectionery until the Bakery, then step out onto the sidewalk (you can't cut through the Bakery or Ice Cream Parlor) then hang a right to get to the Tomorrowland bridge or fight the "hub" crowds to view wishes.

If there is a MMAY after Wishes consider watching it from Liberty Sq next to Sleepy Hollow (great opportunity for dessert if anyone was full and skipped it at 1900PF. Then I would get a spot (whichpeople will already be claiming) for the 11:00 MSEP. May I suggest Lib Sq near Diamond Horseshoe or Frontierland on the side opposite the river?

I think (unless you are very leisurely diners or you have transportation delays) your plan is very do-able. I know my plan is uber detailed, my partner calls me "long division" for a reason. Have fun!

Help! :) Never been to Disney before so I am not familiar with the transportation, I been trying to follow along on this thread but I'm getting a little confused. I see many suggestions for taxis but I will be using an ECV so what would be the most convenient bus routes for me and what times should I be at the bus stop...

...to get from CBR to Poly for 7:30am ADR.
...to get from CBR to 1900 Park Faire for 8:25am ADR.

Thank you so much! :thumbsup2

The buses start running between the resorts and parks by 6:30am each morning. To get to the Polynesian for a 7:30 ADR, you need to be out at the MK bus stop by 6:30...these buses come less frequently and you want to be on one of the first buses...if you miss the first bus at 6:30ish, you may have to wait until close to 7 for the next one, which could make you late.
So, as you board the bus, ask the driver which is quicker to the Polynesian....boat or monorail. The driver may offer to drop you off at the Polynesian on the way past, after dropping at MK. If the offer doesn't come along, just get off the bus at MK and head to the monorail platform. It is easy to find...just get off the bus, head to the front of MK, and keep going up the hill to the Resort monorail line. The monorail starts running by 7am. Get off at the Polynesian.

For an 8:25 ADR at the GF, I would be out at the MK bus stop by 7:30ish. Take the bus to MK, again. Then up to the monorail platform again. It will take about 20 mins to get to the GF via the monorail. Or, if the boat is there, take the boat. It stops at the GF first.

The launches that usually run between MK & GF/Poly can't carry ECV's.

I know someone said they were running a larger cruiser, but I think that was just during the monorail shutdown due to construction.

Yep....forgot that. Good catch. Thanks.

This may have been answered somewhere upthread but...let's face it, this thread is really long so I'm going to go ahead and ask.

Is it possible to get directly from one park to another (other than MK to Epcot via the monorail) or do I need to go to a resort in between? Specifically, I need to get from Epcot to Animal Kingdom.

You can definitely go from park to park (other than between MK and Epcot) without going to a resort in between. For Epcot to Animal Kingdom, there'll be a bus where you pick up the resort buses.

Yes, the only places you can't go to directly from a park are DTD, TL, and ESPN WWoS.

And, of course, all movements between MK & another park require a transfer at TTC.

Would love some help deciding on time needed to be out the door in the am and a few pointers on "how to" - I am seriously rethinking my entire plan because of all the really early days...but here goes..

Staying at BW Villas at the end of June

Day 2 - 8:15 ADR Crystal Palce - I assume bus - but am I right we should try for 6:30 am?

Day 3 - emh AK - What time should we aim to leave - we want to be there before we get let in. I like being early ;)

Day 4 - HS normal day 9 am opening - they want to do Jedi Training - I assume we will walk, what time should we leave?

Day 5 - 745 class at HS - walk - I assume we can leave around 7/715

Day 6 MK emh 8 am - bus? 6:30?

Day 7 Epcot emh 8 am - walk - leave by 700?

Day 8 Typhoon Lagoon - opens at 9 (I think) - we really want to swim with sharks.

Day 9 - 745 Kona Cafe - should we just taxi this one?

Also one night we are eating at Boma after going to DQ - We can go straight from DTD to AKL, right? And then to go back to BW - ?? Take a bus back to HS and walk?

We have lots of down time planned in the middle of the days and a few early nights completely. But I am trying to figure out how to rearrange to allow for at least 1day to sleep in. Maybe we dont need it - we didnt last time we went - but that was only 5 days. Suggestions? Advice? Thanks so much!!:goodvibes

Responses are in purple.

Day 2 - 8:15 ADR Crystal Palce - I assume bus - but am I right we should try for 6:30 am?

6:30 would be way to early. I would be at the bus stop between 7:00 and 7:15.

Day 3 - emh AK - What time should we aim to leave - we want to be there before we get let in. I like being early ;)

Be at the bus stop an hour before the park opens.

Day 4 - HS normal day 9 am opening - they want to do Jedi Training - I assume we will walk, what time should we leave?

I think they've been letting people in about 8:45, so I would leave around 8:00 or a little after.

Day 5 - 745 class at HS - walk - I assume we can leave around 7/715

That should be about right.

Day 6 MK emh 8 am - bus? 6:30?

7:00

Day 7 Epcot emh 8 am - walk - leave by 700?

Epcot is a 10 minute walk, tops. I would leave about 7:15 or so.

Day 8 Typhoon Lagoon - opens at 9 (I think) - we really want to swim with sharks.

I would be at the bus stop an hour before opening.

Day 9 - 745 Kona Cafe - should we just taxi this one?

I'd probably take a taxi. Otherwise be at the bus stop at 6:30

Also one night we are eating at Boma after going to DQ - We can go straight from DTD to AKL, right? And then to go back to BW - ?? Take a bus back to HS and walk?

Yes and yes. I would be at the bus stop at DTD about 75 minutes before your ADR.

We're not big on sleeping in on vacation.

For an 8:15adr, be out at the MK bus stop by 7am. If you miss that bus, another one will come along by 7:30, latest.

Day 3 - emh AK - What time should we aim to leave - we want to be there before we get let in. I like being early ;)
If emh's start at 8, be out at the stop by 7.

Day 4 - HS normal day 9 am opening - they want to do Jedi Training - I assume we will walk, what time should we leave?
For that one you want to be early. So, head out by 8am...that will get you to DHS by 8:25, latest. Then you'll be among the first to be let in..I would think.

Day 5 - 745 class at HS - walk - I assume we can leave around 7/715
7:15 will have you there in time just as long as you move at a normal pace. Normally takes me 18 mins to walk from BWV to DHS..normal, everyday pace.

Day 6 MK emh 8 am - bus? 6:30?
7ish

Day 7 Epcot emh 8 am - walk - leave by 700?
You won't be let in, via the International Gateway, until about 7:50ish, maybe 7:55. The walk takes under 10 mins. Leave BWV by 7:30.

Day 8 Typhoon Lagoon - opens at 9 (I think) - we really want to swim with sharks.
Out at the bus stop by 8:15ish.

Day 9 - 745 Kona Cafe - should we just taxi this one?
Bus to MK by 6:45. Then, monorail to Polynesian..that takes about 20 mins not including wait time. Or, ask the bus driver, when you board the bus, which is quicker to the Polynesian...boat or monorail. He may offer to just drop you off there on his way out of MK area. Or just take a cab.

Also one night we are eating at Boma after going to DQ - We can go straight from DTD to AKL, right? And then to go back to BW - ?? Take a bus back to HS and walk?
Yes, you can get from DTD to AKL. But, it depends on which park is open and still has buses running. If DHS is open, then yes, head there and then walk back

Let's see if Alesia and I agree...Yep, we did. I put my stuff down before reading her post.
As far as sleeping in one day....You may want to rethink your Kona ADR. Can you move it to the day you're already heading to the MK??? You could make an ADR there for about 10am..then it can be brunch. You can head back to MK after eating.
Then, you could make your TL day your last day, and use the original TL day as a lazy day....sleep in, then do whatever.

Thank you Alesia and goofy4tink - your times make me feel a little better about things. 30 min here and there is a good thing!!

I wish we could move TL to last day but we fly out at 430 And I don't think we want to worry about all that on our day out but good thought. There is just so many things that really work best with an early morning, I think we might just live with that.

700 really is a whole lot better than 630!! Thanks!!

I made a reservation for my DW at the Richard Petty Driving Experience on the afternoon of the day we are going to be at Animal Kingdom. How would recommend getting there and how long would you give to get from one to the other?

I would just take a cab. That is one spot that can be a bit tougher to get to since no actual Disney transportation goes there. A cab would be the best bet. At least, that's to the best of my particular knowledge. Perhaps someone else has actually done this and has better info.

I just checked on allears.net (just because I was curious ;)), and it says that there's a shuttle service from the TTC, and to inquire when you make your reservations.

And this is exactly why I love the people here on the Transportation Board. They get 'curious' and go looking for stuff to help others out. :lovestruc
