Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

I made a reservation for my DW at the Richard Petty Driving Experience on the afternoon of the day we are going to be at Animal Kingdom. How would recommend getting there and how long would you give to get from one to the other?
Allow 45 minutes to get from AK to TTC; unless it's late afternoon, in which case allow an hour.

You'll have to ask the Petty people what time they want you to meet the shuttle at the TTC.

Thanks for all the help. I'll ask about the shuttle since with the 5 of us a cab might be too tight.

I'm not pushing you to the cab, but the party size is not a factor.

At all WDW locations, there are taxi vans that can seat 7 and charge the same rate as standard taxi cabs.

I need some help with timing. We'll be staying at BLT in October and will need to be at HS no later than about 7:15am on a morning with EMH and crowd levels at 7. I know we need to take the monorail from CR to the TTC and then get a bus, but what time? I read (I think) that the monorail opens an hour before the parks (so 7am). Is this correct? If not, help please!!!!

I believe that you are incorrect. You will want to take a bus from CR directly to HS. If you want to arrive at HS by 7:15 I'd say you need yo catch the first bus, so be waiting at the bus stop at 6:30. If time is getting short there is always the option of taking a cab.

to get to 7:45 breakfast adr at Cape May from POR we would take a bus at what time to Epcot and then what? Thanks so much for the help!

No need to go to the TTC...buses will run to DHS from the CR. For EMHs at DHS, I would be out at the bus stop by 7:15...not sure why you want to be at DHS at 7:15...seems a bit early to me. If you want to be there for 7:15, then you're going to need to be at the bus stop by 6:30am.

If you take the bus to Epcot, you will have to enter Epcot, walk through it, and then exit it. To get to a 7:45 ADR at Cape May, you would need to be at Epcot by 7am....if it's not open then, you won't be allowed to enter. YOu can only enter if you have an ADR within Epcot.

So, take the bus to DHS....then you can walk to Cape May...takes about 20 mins..the boat starts running about an hour prior to park opening.
Or, just take a cab....short ride from POR.

Only want to be there early and having a little wiggle room if we don't move so quickly that morning! Overall, how much time should I schedule for for a bus from CR to HS? 30-45 min? Is 6:30 the earliest bus?

Actually, take the bus to DHS and tell the driver you are going to the Beach Club for breakfast. If it's before the boats have started for the day, you will be provided bus transportation to the resort. If the driver of that bus doesn't know how to help, go to load zone 7 at DHS & someone will ask you where you need to go.

You should be at your resort bus stop one hour before your seating time.

The trip itself could take up to 30 minutes if the bus stops at both Poly & GF before going to DHS. Add to that up to 20 minutes wait time.

In general, early bus service to the parks starts around 6:30, but the actual time of the first bus at a specific resort varies.

Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it. Sounds like 6:30 is the way to go...or a taxi!

Well, who knew!!! You, my friend, are a veritable font of info!!!

If the park opens at 8am, for EMHs, you should plan on being out at the bus stop by 7:15ish. I usually figure on about 30-40 mins from CR to DHS.
But, if you want to be at DHS really early??? Be out at the bus stop by 6:45ish..you may have to wait for a bus...they don't run as frequently that early in the morning. But they do start running around 6:30..that has been my experience at the vast majority of resorts.

I have my daughters scheduled at the BBB in DTD for 10 am, then have to get from there to Epcot by 12:25 for our Akus princess lunch. Im wondering if I should worry about making that time?? I have done this before but I cant remember the specifics, any advice on how to get there the quickest? TIA

Quickest?? Cab to BW and then walk over to WS and Norway. Using the buses..hop on the bus at DTD, headed to BW. But, the bus can take more time than you have.
If you use a cab, you won't have the worry of not making it in time. It's a short cab ride from DTD to BW. Then, walk over to the International Gateway and enter there.

Thanks so much. Im having a brain fart though, what is BW?? I know WS is world showcase, but Im drawing a blank at the other one. :confused3

Hi - visiting WDW 8-12 April, and wanting to check I've got the transport plans right. We have visited before, but in a quieter time. We're staying at the Swan and Dolphin, arriving late on the night of the 8th, so don't have huge plans for the next day.

Mon 9 - Epcot - we can just walk there, right?
Tue 10 - AK - opens at 8am, plan to drive, so leave 7.15?
Wed 11 - MK - EMH at 7am, so bus at...6.15?
Thurs 12 - HS - opens at 9am, drive, leave at 8.15?

Thanks for your ideas and help:)

Disney's Boardwalk Resort.

To the right of the lobby entrance, there's a stairway down to the boardwalk. Turn right at the boardwalk and follow it to Epcot's International Gateway.

Epcot...yep, just walk over...takes about 12 mins.
AK...driving is fine, if you leave at 7:15, you should get there with time to spare.
MK...yep. If the park opens at 7, then buses should be running by 6ish.
DHS....actually, I would just walk over. Takes about 15 mins to walk it. Exit the S/D area, cross the bridge. Go right, off the bridge, into BW area...stay to the right and follow the sidewalk to DHS.....there is a sign right there. Runs along behind BW. If you choose to drive, then, sure 8:15 will give you plenty of time.

Thanks! So at the international gateway I can give my park tickets to gain entrance, correct? Sorry for so many questions, but I have to be sure I understand so I dont mess up my girls big day :thumbsup2

Yep...it works just like any other park entrance. You will go through a bag check area, then to the turnstiles.
If you take a cab, you can go to either Beach Club or Boardwalk. If you go to BC, you will go through the main lobby, exit the resort and go left on the sidewalk...that will bring you directly to the IG. If you head to BW, you will head to the front doors of Boardwalk, but go down the outside flight of stairs to the immediate right of the doors into the lobby. Then, head to the boardwalk area (straight), and go right....walk along the boardwalk, go up and over the bridge..then go right..down to the IG.
If time is of the essence, I might go with the BC route..it can be shorter.
