Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Have breakfast reservations for 9:15am and ned to get to the BC from Port Orleans French Quarters. What is the best way , could drive but really wanted to use internal transportation.

 7 Days till Disney Vacation.
You can take the bus to DHS, leaving POFQ no later than 7:30am, then walk or boat to BC from there...takes about 25 mins to walk, 25 mins plus any wait times for the boat.
If you have a car, that really is going to be the quickest way. You can park right there, then drive to the park that you want to go to when finished eating.

I have two questions, and apologize if they have been asked before. I didn't go through every page.

1) We're having dinner at the BWI and then on to Jellyrolls after a park day. When we finish up it will likely be late. How do we get back to POFQ when we are ready to go?

2) where exactly is the DTD boat dock from POR/FQ? Is it conveniently close to buses going elsewhere?

1. If it's late, you can head out to the BW bus stop and get the DTD bus. The driver will usually ask where you want to go and then drop guests at their particular resort. Not quick but it gets you there. A cab might be a lot faster...PO is only about a 5-8 min ride from BW.
2. the boat dock is located behing the main bldgs..the buses are in front of the bldgs. You have to get off a bus, then walk through the bldg and then out the back to the boat docks.

What is TTC?
Where is it?

Sorry :scared:

And thanks! :flower3:

TTC is the Transportation and Ticket Center. It is the where the ferry and monorail to MK are located. As well as the main parking area for MK. Offsite resort buses drop their guests here and then they can get buses to both AK and DHS.

At POR the boat dock is outside of the food court, or out the back doors off the lobby. You really can't miss it. Not sure where it is at FQ

Thanks so much! One more question: do you know what time those DTD boats stop running? thanks!

Take a bus to Magic Kingdom and then walk over to the contempory resort...I think people say it is a 5 minute walk?

Is there buses that go to DTD from the parks and from resorts or do you have to get to one or another in order to get a bus there? Same question for getting back as well please... First time planning a big trip like this when I'm the mommy so trying to work everything out.

No buses between DTD and any parks. You would have to take a bus to a resort and then a bus (or other form of transport) to your final destination. Reverse it going back to DTD.
Buses run between DTD and all the resorts.

Okay, at first I thought this would be no big deal, but after reading 19 or so pages (I just couldn't take any more ABBV. sorry!) and how many cautions of time and early buses, and park closings... I need to get a double checking done.

We are staying at All star music.

June 1st, 2011 - 9:05am breakfast @ Cape May Café

I *was* thinking from ASMu to Studios, to beach club. starting out of ASMu no later than say 7:30am. yet, are there buses from studios running to other resorts in the morning like that? :confused3

And if you suggest a taxi.... well, I've *never* been in a taxi in my life. I have no idea what it is like, nor things like, what do you tip, why do you tip (are we not already paying for the service? :confused3 ) How would I go about getting one (I doubt I just stand on a curb and yell Taxi!)
and where would they pick me up, at the same area as the normal buses, or over near whatever building our room is in? I think I would rather *not* learn taxi's if I don't have to. :scared1:

Also, I have 7:50pm dinner @ Chef Mickey's on june 2ed... my concern is, what time do buses stop leaving from MK? if we are done with dinner by 9pm, take a bus to MK (yes, NO WALKING if at all possible. by that time we both will not be up to much walking. :headache:), then a bus back to all star music... we should be fine right? I doubt the park closes early in June, but wanted to double check.

thanks in advance! :worship:

There are no buses that run between resorts. YOu have to take a bus to a park and then get to your destination from that park. There are buses running to the parks, from the resorts, starting at 6:30am. You could take a bus to DHS, around 7:30ish (these buses run a bit less frequently than regular buses) then walk to BC from DHS. The walk takes about 20 mins. If the boats are up and running, and they usually start an hour or so before park opening, you can take a boat over to YC/BC..the boat will take about 20 mins not including any wait times.
Or, you could take a bus to AK (closest park to ASMu, then transfer to a bus heading to BC...but at that hour you can't be absolutely sure a bus will be heading there quickly.
A cab may be your quickest and easiest plan. You can ask at your front desk the best way to get a cab....there are usually some hanging around each resort area. A cab will pick you up at the front entrance to your resort, and drop you at the front entrance of your destination resort...much closer than the bus stops. Tipping is expected....I tip a few bucks.

As far as Chef Mickey's at 7:50....your dinner should take you about an hour, maybe a bit more. MK is scheduled to close that night at 10pm. The buses continue running for an hour or two after park closing..so you're good to go.
BUT...there are no buses that run between CR and MK. There is a sidewalk that runs beneath the monorail line, between the two areas. It is an easy, pleasant walk. Takes less than 10 mins. Or, you can hop on the monorail at the CR. You will then head to the TTC (you could get off here and then take the ferry over to MK), then the Polynesian, then GF and finally to MK...takes about 20 or so mins. You then would walk over to the bus stops and get your bus back to ASMu. If it were me, I would just walk there.

You'll take the bus to DHS and then the boat to the Beach Club. You could also walk from DHS to the Beach Club.

And if you suggest a taxi.... well, I've *never* been in a taxi in my life. I have no idea what it is like, nor things like, what do you tip,

It's like riding in a car. Tipping 15% is standard.

why do you tip (are we not already paying for the service? :confused3 )

Without tips drivers make next to nothing -- well below minimum wage.

How would I go about getting one (I doubt I just stand on a curb and yell Taxi!)

You can ask for one at the front desk of your resort.

and where would they pick me up, at the same area as the normal buses, or over near whatever building our room is in? I think I would rather *not* learn taxi's if I don't have to. :scared1:

I would imagine they'll pick you up at the front door of the resort, but you can double check with a CM at the resort.

Also, I have 7:50pm dinner @ Chef Mickey's on june 2ed... my concern is, what time do buses stop leaving from MK?

About 2 hours after park closing.

if we are done with dinner by 9pm, take a bus to MK (yes, NO WALKING if at all possible. by that time we both will not be up to much walking. :headache:),

There isn't a bus fro the contemporary to MK. You could take the monorail to MK, but (believe it or not) it would be about the same amount of walking, and the monorail would take longer.

then a bus back to all star music... we should be fine right? I doubt the park closes early in June, but wanted to double check.

Correct.

I'm hoping I missed it, but is there a reliable transportation calculator out there somewhere? I was using the calculator from the site-that-must-not-be-mentioned, and I'm worried I'm going to be cutting all our ADRs too close. Thanks!

There really isn't one out there. It's a good idea to allow for an hour to get from point A to point B...especially if that is resort to resort. A calculator isn't going to be much help simply because there are so many variables.
You can ask here and you will get a ton of help..as well as many various options. Give us your departing point and where you need to get to...we'll do the rest.
