Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

It's our first trip to Disneyworld and I thought I had everything planned - ADRs etc done, however, just read somewhere that the transportation starts 1 hour before parks open. We are staying at Saratoga Springs - I have an 8:55am breakfast at chef mickeys - will we make it on time using wdw transport. The same goes for breakfast at Akershus in Epcot (8:30am). Any advice would be greatly appreciated to quell the panic that is setting in. I was looking to rearrange but no tables!!:confused3
To get to Chef Mickey's for an 8:55 ADR...be out at the MK bus stop by 8. You'll be dropped off at MK by 8:30ish, then walk over to CM's..takes under 10 mins.

To get to Akershus for 8:30, be out at the Epcot bus stop by 7:30. You will be allowed into Epcot early..you want to be there by 8ish...then walk through the park which will take you about 20 mins.

The resort to park buses start running by 6:30am every day. They do tend to run a bit less frequently than the regular resort to park buses...maybe every 25 mins or so. But when you get to about 60-90 mins prior to park opening, the buses start coming more frequently....about every 15-20 mins. You should have no trouble at all.

I have used the Lynx bus at TTC.....very easy. When you get to the TTC, from MK, just walk towards the parking lot area, when you get to the building on your left (has a gift shop in it and such), turn left. You will see the DHS and AK bus stops there. Way over to the left, along the drive, there are other bus stops. Look for the big blue paw print that shows you the Lynx stop..I think it's the number 50 bus.
I know some have used DTD but I'm just not sure how easy that is going to be to get to early in the morning...as well as where it is exactly, in relation to the WDW bus stops.

If you need a cab to get to Discovery Cove, you can just head out to the front of your resort. If there aren't any already there, one can be called for. Doesn't take long.

Thanks very much goofy4tink!

How much time should I allow and which route should I take to get to an 8:25 breakfast ressie at WCC from Pop Century? Thanks in advance!

Via Disney transportation allow 90 minutes, bus to MK and boat or bus to WL, depending on which is running at that hour.
Via taxi allow 10-15 minutes and $20 plus tip.

I would be out at the MK bus stop by 7:30ish....then, when you get to MK, take the boat over to WL.
You shouldn't have more than a 15 min wait. You should be at MK by 8, and onto the boat by 8:15....latest. IF you want to be really sure, leave Pop by 7ish....you'll have plenty of time to amble around then.

The boats probably won't be running that early, unless MK opens at 8.

Just tell the driver on the bus to MK that you are going to WL for breakfast. They should notify the MK dispatcher to make sure a WL bus picks you up, or may even be able to drop you off without changing bus.

Looking at either YC (Captains Grille) or OKW ( Olivias)

Which would be easier to get to from POP or cheapest (approx cost) for cab.

Thanks

Both are approx 3 miles from Pop so the cab fare should be close for either, about $10 plus tip and not take more than 10 minutes.
By Disney transportation YC would probably be a little easier as you could bus to DHS and then either walk or boat to YC. Allow at least an hour assuming you don't have to wait to long for a bus or boat. It's about a 20 minute walk from DHS to YC.

Actually, if breakfast is before 8:30 on a non-DHS-EMH morning, the bus from Pop to DHS will drop you off right at the YC, since the boats will not be running before 8:15. For OKW, you would need to transfer buses at DHS.

Looking at trying to squeeze in a 7:30 breakfast. HS opens at 8 that morning while Epcot has their morning EMH and opens at 8 as well. How far a walk is YC to Epcot? Also, which of the two are closer to DTD?

Thanks

Any changes should be verified and triple checked before one takes them as being solid ,time goes quick enough without having to worry.:crazy2:

It is always safe to double check info. BUT....checking here, on these boards, is about the best way to get correct, up to date info.
Those that are actively employed by Disney usually give pretty decent info.

YC to Epcot IG is a short walk maybe 10 minutes at most, it's about 1/3 mile.

Both DHS and Epcot are several miles from DTD, there is no Disney transportation between either park and DTD.

If you'll be traveling from Pop to YC on a day when DHS opens at 8:

The boats from DHS to YC should start around 7:30. As long as you arrive at DHS before the boats start, the bus from Pop should drop you off. I would suggest being at the load zone at Pop at 6:30.

I have an 8:20 ressie at Akershus for breakfast. What is the best way to get there from ASMo and how much time should I allow to get there? Thanks!

The only way to get there is to take the bus to Epcot. Be at the bus stop between 7:00 and 7:15.

6 of one, half dozen of another in this case. If the bus is there for Epcot, then it would be quicker to take the bus to the front of Epcot. It would take about 20 mins to walk from DHS to the International Gateway, then another 8-10 mins to walk over to Coral Reef. If you used the boat, it would be 25 mins to the Gateway....not including wait times. If the boat is just leaving the DHS dock then it will be at least 15 mins before the next one comes.
If you take the bus to the front, you have to walk from the bus stop (and I'm just not sure how far back the DHS bus stop is), then go through bag check and the turnstiles. Then, it's about a 6 min walk to Coral Reef from the turnstiles.

Just a lot of variables.

We are doing our touring split between 8 Am-1 PM and 5 PM-Close each day. Would it be smarter from Pop Century to go to International Gateway through DHS or just going through the main gate? I want to do Future World in the morning and World Showcase in the evening to help the walking distances (will have a senior mom with me).

It would be a lot more time-consuming to take the bus to DHS then transfer to the boat to Epcot than to just take the bus to Epcot and walk to WS.

If you go to DHS it means waiting for the bus, then waiting for the boat...so it will take at least an hour....maybe longer. I would just head to the front of Epcot, walk through Futureworld and then take one of the boats over to WS. Or just walk it...that way you'll hit all the countries. Take it slowly and your 'senior' should be okay.

The other possibility would be to cab it to BC from Pop. Would cost about $10. Then, it's a quick 6-8 min walk to the Intl Gateway.

I am a long time lurker and love all the information I have gotten from all of you! I now have a question I can't figure out. We are staying at the CBR next weekend and plan to spend most of Saturday at DHS for SWW. We will drive to DHS so we can be there early. We then have ADR at Crystal Palace in MK at 4:00 and reservations for the Pirate Fireworks cruise from the Contemporary Resort at 8:15. Can we drive from DHS and park in the Contemporary Resort? Or do we need to part in TTC and then take the monorail to MK, then to CR then back to TTC?
Thanks!
