Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

1) Let's say we're visiting the Epcot resorts and after we want to take the monorail up to MK to visit those resorts. Is there a way to walk to the front of Epcot where the monorail station is on the OUTSIDE, without having to go into the park? We're not going to any parks on this day.

No. You'll need to take a bus from one of the resorts to MK.

2) We'd also like to visit AKL. I'm not exactly sure when we'll be doing this since it's farther away from the other resorts, but how far is it from AK. Is there a walking path from AK over to AKL or is it farther than that?

You cannot walk from AK to AKL, you'll need to take the bus.

darn it. is there a bus from TL to DTD, or will i need to go via a resort
No, not after 11 a.m.

You can take the bus to Saratoga Springs Resort, and walk the 1/2 mile from the Congress Park stop. Or ask the driver whether the bus is returning to DTD after SSR; it usually does.

Hey all!
I'll be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter and I have breakfast reservations at Kona Cafe at 8:00am... I'm wondering if I can take the boat to Downtown Disney and take a bus to the Polynesian...

How early do the boats operate?
Do the buses operate in Downtown Disney that early?
If not, what's the best way to get to the Polynesian from POFQ?

Thank you!

No DTD boats before 10 a.m.

Take the MK bus, and then the Resort Monorail to the Poly. (Boats from MK to Poly won't be running at that hour either.)

Be at the POFQ bus depot at 6:45, and tell the MK bus driver that you are going to breakfast at the Poly.

Thank you very much. I didn't know there was a monorail to the Poly... I thought only the Contemporary had a monorail...

So if I take the MK bus... does that drop us off at the TTC?

How do you know if a monorail is a resort monorail?

Sorry, it's my first time to WDW

Take that MK bus..it will drop you right at MK, not at the TTC. Then walk up to the monorail platform....when you get off the bus, follow the crowd towards the turnstile area at MK entrance, but keep walking rather than turning right with them. You will see the monorail station ahead of you. Get on the Resort Line, not the Express Line. The Resort monorail will leave MK, stop at the CR, TTC, and then the Polynesian.
You will see signage to tell you which side to head to. There is one path that leads to the Express Monorail and another to the Resort line. Even if you accidently got on the Express line, you could walk over to the Polynesian from the TTC via the pathway off to the far side. Takes about 8-10 mins depending on walking speed. So don't stress too much about which one you get on.

Only in the morning, starting 1 hour before TL opens.

After 11 a.m., resort buses stop at TL on the way out of DTD, until the water park is empty in the evening.

Ooo! This is what I was looking for. Does that mean the route reverses again at park closing time? We're thinking of going to DTD after a day at TL. I think I recall doing this in the past but my memory may not be accurate. If not, my plan is to take a cab as it looks relatively close on the map. More money than using the buses, yes, but the time it would save riding back to a resort to transfer seems well worth the investment. Or am I far off base on this?

I'm not sure what you mean by the route reversing again. The buses run from DTD, stopping at TL, and then on to the resorts until all guests have left the water park. After that, no buses go to TL until the next morning.

DTD is literally across the street from TL, but unfortunately TL has a very long driveway with blind curves and it's unsafe to walk. A taxi ride would be very short, but you might have to pay several dollars for wait time, as traffic leaving TL can get quite backed up. I don't know how readily taxis are available at TL; you might have to call for one.

You could also take a bus from TL to Saratoga Springs Resort, which will probably take about 20 minutes to the Congress Park stop at SSR once you get on the bus. The bus may return to DTD from there, which would be just a few minutes more; if not, it's a 10-minute walk on a paved lighted walkway from there to DTD.

anyone able to give a ballpark travel time from DHS to Wilderness lodge? likely to take a direct resort bus, but am wondering the time to leave for dinner and back in time to catch Fantasmic. thanks :0)

To WL: 15 minutes travel time, plus up to 20 minutes wait time.

Back to DHS, the bus stops at FtW on the way and takes a less direct route, so allow 25 minutes travel time + 20 wait time.

Two quick questions:

1. what is the quickest way from BWI to CSR?

2. quickest route from CSR to Cape May for a 7:35am ressie?

thank you so much

1. a cab. You could walk over (or boat) to DHS and then take the CSR bus, but that would take you about an hour. The walk takes 15-20 mins (boat is 20+ mins), and then a wait for the bus and then the ride on the bus.
A cab will take about 10 mins.

2. Again, a cab. The buses start running at 6:30 but that won't get you to BC in time. You would have to take a bus to a park at 6:30 and then another bus to YC/BC...and they just aren't all that predictable that early in the day.

So I think I know my answer, best route from the Poly to FW for the HDDMR. I think I want to monorail to the Contemporary & walk out to the boat dock for the resort loop launch to FW, right?

It will be me & DH, DS8, with a special needs stroller, DS1 & DD1, in a double stroller. SO considering that the adults are outnumbered, I just want the least amount of transfers & folding of strollers.:thumbsup2 Thx!

I think this goes here: We're staying at one of the DTD hotels- would it be better to take the bus from our hotel or walk over to DTD and catch a bus there?

I'm just wondering if anyone has any DTD Hotel transportation experience or advice. We're planning to make RD at all parks.

TIA.

Take the bus from your hotel. There are no buses that go from DTD to the parks.

Ok I think this is the right spot. We will be leaving in a month and a half for WDW :yay::yay::yay: so excited.

How do I get to the following places from POP?

Cape May

Boma

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would get off at the MK and take their boat over to FtW. You would have to get off the monorail at the CR, go down the elevator, then out the back and down to the dock. Much easier to just get off at MK and walk down to the boat dock from there.

As mentioned already....there are no buses to the parks from DTD. Does your hotel offer a shuttle over to the parks? That may be your best bet. The other issue is that the buses at DTD are very sporadic first thing in the day..there is little need for buses coming and going much before 10am. So, it wouldn't even work for you if you tried to get on a bus to the CR (for instance) and then walk over to MK....no buses running early enough for RD.

Fastest way to Cape May? Cab. A cab will take you about 8 mins and cost less than $10. Or, you can take the bus to DHS and then walk over to YC/BC (or take the boat).

To Boma....again fastest way?? Cab again. But, if time is not of the essence, take the bus to AK and then transfer to the AKL bus.

Hello! I have a 7:20 am reservation for Chef Mickey's and am staying at Pop. If we make it to the bus stop at 6:15, will we be able to make our reservation or is that cutting it too close? If we have to take a cab, do you know the approximate fare?

Thanks!
