Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

This pertains to an upcoming August trip.

We have reservations at 8pm @ Ohana, then planning on heading to the Poly beach to watch Wishes.

Assuming that part goes as planned, will we be able to get back to MK/Main Street in time for the parade? (10pm wishes, 11pm parade).
I do understand good viewing locations will be gone, since it's the first night of our first visit, I thought it would be a cool end to the day.

Or, alternately, am I just getting us into a human traffic jam, should I go from Poly to the TTC & right back to the resort (PORiverside)

You 'might'. If you watch Wishes from the beach, you would have to get over to MK right away. The fireworks show will run for about 20 mins...so that gets you over to the monorail by 10:30ish. That gets you over to MK by 10:45ish. You may be able to get into the park in time for the start of the parade.
If it were me? I would head over to the MK right after eating...then watch the fireworks from the end of Main St, and try to get a somewhat decent spot for the parade.

I am thinking about staying at POFQ or POR on an upcoming trip.
Is the only way to get to Epcot by bus?
Can I walk or take a boat?

The resort looks pretty close to Epcot so I'm assuming the bus trip is short, but I was just curious about other modes of transportation.

Only a few resorts allow you to walk to Epcot....S/D, YC/BC and BW. Other than that? Nope. In all actuality, Pop and CBR are very close as well, but you aren't allowed to walk from those resorts.
And there are no boats simply because the lake at Epcot is landlocked!! So, you do need to take a bus.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think the monorail resorts have bus service to Epcot. However, you don't need to take the monorail to the TTC; from the Polynesian you can walk to the TTC.

Downtown Disney to MK? Just called to reserve for BBB and the only available is in DTD. Anyway the BBB gentleman said we'd have to go back to our hotel and then on to MK. This seems strange and disappointing to me.

The DTD bus doesn't go to any parks, just to the resorts. You can hop on the bus to CR then walk to MK, or the bus to GF, then get on the monorail. The next stop is MK.

Funny, but the bus from DTD to CR or GF goes right past the entrance to PO.

In fact, those buses don't start running until around 11 a.m. If you're trying to get to a monorail resort earlier than that, DTD bus cast will most likely put you on a bus to PO to transfer to a bus to MK.

Another option, and sometimes the fastest, is a 10-minute walk to SSR, and getting the MK bus there.

Ok I'll admit it besides the BBB I need help. You are all so knowledgeable and I've tried to figure this all out on my own and it's not happening. Can someone please help me with my schedule? We will have our car and are staying at the POFQ. I do want to take the monorail at least once for the experience but other than that want to know when it will be better to drive. Also I'd like to keep walk times (when not in the parks) to 15 minutes or less as I and my Izzy get tired fast.

Day 1: arrive ~8am for full day at MK. Park at POFQ or MK?
Day 2: AK bus or drive? Back to hotel for swimming and relax before Dinner at 1900PF bus or drive or??
Day 3: Hollywood studios bus or drive? Dinner at The Wave in CR bus to MK then mono to CR, bus to MK walk to CR, drive to CR?
Day 4: Epcot bus, drive or walk?
Day 5: BBB in DTD bus, drive or walk? MK bus to where? or drive? dinner at Kona in Poly direct from MK mono?
Day 6: Check out day. MK bus or drive? I'm thinking drive this day so we check out, drive up and then when we leave drive be able to drive to the interstate with nothing in between but what do I know?

Yes, I think it would in this case.

• You have to be there by a set time
• Buses into DTD in the a.m. stop at TL first
• Parking should be easy at that hour
• POFQ is a short drive to DTD (though there are a few signals)
• There's no direct bus to MK when you're done

I would leave the hotel by 9:15, allowing 30 minutes for driving, parking, and walking --maybe even 45 minutes. At the entrances to DTD parking, there are small electronic signs next to the traffic signals that display entrance numbers. Park at entrance #1, which shouldn't be a problem at that hour.

After the makeover, you could drive directly to the TTC (MK parking), but you would have to ride the tram in from the lot, and then the monorail or ferryboat to the park. You can ride the Resort Monorail or a small boat to Poly for dinner. If you finish dinner before 1 hour after MK closes, you can ride the Resort Monorail around to TTC, or you could walk from Poly (about 10 minutes). Then you might be able to get the tram back to your car, or you might have to walk out to it if it's too late and the trams have shut down.

Alternative is to drive back and park at POFQ, and ride the bus directly to MK. After dinner, again if it's less than 1 hour after MK closing, you can ride the Resort Monorail back to MK and get a bus direct to your resort. If it's more than an hour after MK close, you could get a bus from Poly to DTD and then another to your resort (or a boat from DTD to POFQ if it's before 11 p.m.) The advantage is that you wouldn't have to worry about walking from Poly to TTC or out to your car.

@joelkfla Thank you very very much! That day will give us a chance to experience lots of different transportation which should be fun. I honestly love seeing how many different types of transport I can use in a day!

If you have time I'd love for you to help me with the rest of the days. I now I'm probably way over thinking things but we had a bad experience with the buses in Disney Paris so I'm trying to make things go as smooth as possible this trip. I know everything can't be perfect but that doesn't mean I can't plan ahead!

I think the rest of your questions pretty much come down to personal preference: some Guests prefer to drive, others prefer to use Disney Transport. Either will work.

I don't have much experience staying at the resorts, and most of my driving is in a bus, so I'm not a good person to pass judgement on which is better.

Take an early bus. For an 8:15 adr, I would be out at the MK bus stop by 7ish...these early buses come a bit less frequently than regular buses, so if you just miss one, you may have to wait more than 20+ mins for the next one. As long as you're on a bus by 7:30, you should be fine.
