**Official Frozen Sing-Along, Oaken's, Holiday Premium Package Tips, updated 1/5/15

We have an 11:10 ADR at H&V. Would we be able to see any of the processional near H&V and still have time to make our ADR? If not, in your opinion, is it worth cancelling our ADR to see the processional? My daughter loves Elsa, but also really likes the characters at H&V. There are no other ADR times for lunch that day.

I Was going to ask the exact same thing. we have AR at the same time but no other times

Has the fireworks time for September been posted somewhere that I'm not seeing? Thanks!

Our DHS day is a Thursday so we'll miss out on the fireworks that day. Are they worth adding a day to our park tickets to see them on our arrival night? Or can you see them from outside the turnstiles at all? I'm not going to rearrange all my days to see fireworks but thought it would be cool if we could do it.

I am trying to decide if I should book the premium package too...

Don't take too long decide. They have been filling up fast and July and August sold out in a couple weeks after the announcement. And those packages were daily. These are just on weekends.

We did the package twice and I'm really glad we did. I feel like we almost got our money's worth just with the food and snacks. And we definitely had a great time!

Here's my question, for those who have been there: do you think we will have time to watch the Frozen parade, perhaps from the American Idol steps or a little closer to Star Tours, and make it to an Indiana Jones FP+ at 11:15 a.m.? Would we still be able to get into IJ if we were a few minutes late?

Thanks!

As long as the parade starts on time you should just make it if you watch at the Idol stage. The welcome is over around 1:10 typically. And it's a quick walk over to Indy. The really cool thing about watching it from the Idol steps is that's down where the parade stops for the welcome! So you will have performers stopped right by you. You won't have a good view of the welcome from the Idol Steps.

I would not suggest watching from Star Tours. It doesn't typically make it there until right around 1:10pm.

You definitely would have plenty of time if you watched it from the beginning of the parade route and skip the welcome, it's over by 11:05, if it starts on time. Head down to H&V to get to Indy.

Ok I'm a bit confused and I'm hoping you guys can clear it up for me. Now that Frozen is extended, will all of the events still take place everyday and just the fireworks on the weekends?

Yes. Fireworks and premium packages just on weekends after Labor Day. Everything else stays as is.

I guess I don't understand what the premium package is and how it is different? We aren't interested in frozen and I'm trying to decide if changing our HS day to a Monday ( instead of Sunday) is a better option.

There is an explanation of the package in the first post of this thread. It gets you viewing and snacks for the parade, VIP seating for the singalong (you pick the time), and a viewing area for the fireworks and dessert.

I went last night and I was surprised how crowded it was. It felt more crowded last night than it did on Saturday. On Saturday, we didn't have to wait to get into Oakens Funland or the trading post. Last night we had to wait to get into both. I was really surprised. I didn't expect that.

Typically there are less locals on a Sunday. But if your Sunday is Labor Day weekend, I'd expect more people than usual. And if your Monday is Labor Day, I'd also expect more people than usual because of the 4 day weekend.

Sorry if these have already been asked and answered.

Do I get to pick my sing along time or do I get what they give me? Does everyone need to go get in that line for tickets or can we send part of our group?

We have 10:30 ADR at H&V. Can I send one adult and the kids who care out to see the processional in the middle of the meal?

So stressful - 5 kids. 2 want to do Jedi Academy. 1 will be all over everything Frozen. 2 want to hit RnR and ToT as much as possible.

Please check out the first post and the first page of this thread. Many questions can be answered there.

You pick the time, 1st come 1st serve. Only 1 person needs to go pick up the tickets.

You might miss a breakfast character or two if they go out for the parade. Viewing may not be the best since that area fills up the quickest. But the parade is only 5 minutes. So they wouldn't be gone long.

Sounds like you will have a very exciting DHS day!

I loved Frozen but am I the only one getting increasingly annoyed at Disney changing things at the last minute? You have to plan every detail of your vacation months in advance and of course I scheduled HS for Sunday, Sept 21st. While I'm glad there will be extra stuff for us to see, I would have attempted to avoid the Frozen madness as my 2 year old son doesn't care much for it. It was supposed to be a fairly low crowd day too, which I'm sure had flown out the window. When I booked my vacation last year I had tried to avoid F&W fest for the same reason but then Disney added a week.:headache: I haven't done any research on the special events because I wasn't planning on seeing them. Someone please give me some advice as to what is a can't miss that I need to add into my touring plans and what is okay to skip. Thanks so much and sorry for the rant.:worried:

More advance notice sure would have been nice. But what can you do?

There is lots of information in the first post of the thread. Lists what there is to do. If he doesn't care for frozen too much, you might want to skip the sing-along, though that's my very favorite part of FSF. He'd probably enjoy digging in the snow. The parade is quick moving and only last 5 minutes, 10 if you do the welcome too. The fireworks are really neat, but does the noise bother him?

it looks like we will need to go down to HS in the evening on our arriving weekend while we are at Universal. We will just drive down one night for them. So which night would be better for the fireworks Saturday or Sunday?

Probably Sunday as long as it isn't Labor Day weekend.

Awesome amount of information!! Great job!
I'm personally sitting here thanking the LORD that it's only happening on the weekends come Sept! We luckily won't be at dhs on a weekend and won't have to deal with those crowds!

Thanks! Only the fireworks and package are weekend only. The rest continues! So I'd expect less people on the weekdays than weekends after Labor Day.

Do you think they will open up more dates if weekends sell out?

I will be surprised if they do. But I think it would be great!

So now I am thinking about changing my HS day to the 4th of sept instead of the 31st of august. I have the package so I know that would not be an option but besides losing that, and not seeing fireworks, anything else I would miss? I'm thinking we can come over after dinner at Epcot for the fireworks and dance party on the 31st or 1st. Lower crowds would be a great +!

The desserts!!! That was my favorite part of the package. But that's the only other thing besides what you listed that you'd be missing.

We just got back from an amazing 11 days at WDW. We spent 3 of those days at DHS. I had the Premium Package booked for our last day. I figured that if we got to do everything we wanted the first 2 days that I may cancel.

DS is 9. He loved the movie Frozen, but solely for Olaf, who is his favorite Disney character. He's not into the Anna and Elsa craze at all.

On our first DHS day we arrived at RD and saw the opening show. Then later we happened to be near Star Tours when I realized the processional was about to pass so we grabbed a seat on a curb and watched it pass. Then later in the day we got some sing-along tickets. I don't remember what time we picked them up or which return time we got (sorry, no notes and 11 days of details crammed into my brain). We returned at the early end of our return-time window and I was surprised at how long the line to get in was. We were directed to be seated on the far right section of the theatre, but as we were walking down there were 2 empty seats on the end of a row in the center section about 3/4 way up (not in the bleacher section) so we grabbed those. The view was great and we both enjoyed the show.

We weren't familiar with DHS and found it to be a little confusing. We never found Oaken's that first morning/afternoon, although we didn't look for it specifically. I just thought we'd eventually come across it but we didn't.

We left DHS to take a swim break and returned about 8:30 or so for the fireworks. We took a spot between the Idol screen and Min and Bill's. They have tape on the ground to delineate viewing areas from walkways. We were at the front of the tape facing the side of the stage. We couldn't see the stage well but we could see the stage screen and the idol screen and the view of the fireworks was excellent. Since we were at the tape no one was directly in front of us.

That evening was EMH, so after the fireworks we wandered the park and finally learned our way around. We came across Oaken's. The trading post was open but the Funland was not.

On our next DHS day we went to the Funland. DS played in the "snow" and also ice skated. He waited less than 5 minutes for the snow play area. Then we were able to sign up at about 10:15 for the 10:30 skating slot. They actually let people on the ice before our 1/2 hour window opened so he got some extra time. There wasn't a skating exhibition before that slot so as soon as the ice was cleared they let them on. He skated for a solid 30 minutes or more before we left the ice to truck it across to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. I realized our way may be blocked by the processional, but we made it to a crossing area in front of the Idol building just in time.

So we had seen the processional (but not the show), saw the opening show, experienced Funland and Trading Post, and seen the fireworks. I considered canceling the package since we had already seen/done everything. However I decided to keep it because I thought the dessert party would be a fun way to spend the last night of our trip.

We got to the check-in spot before 10:00 on the morning of our package. There was a line. We got our lanyards, chose our return time for the sing-along (3:30 although I think all/most other times were available. 3:30 was what worked best for our schedule so that's what I asked for). At that point (by 10 at least) they let people into the viewing area. Folks immediately filled the space at the rope. We were able to get a rope spot and ds sat in the very front left corner of the taped-off children's area right at the rope. He was very disappointed to realize that one of the vertical banners at the front of the stage blocked most of his screen view. The screen, of course, is where Olaf appears. He could see the Idol screen if he looked to the left but people sometimes blocked that view.

I was a little disappointed as we sat there. We still had to get there more than an hour early to get a spot and it didn't even seem that great. But we sat and enjoyed water, frozen lemonade, and Mickey bars as we waited. The next part is the best part. In front of the rope they had an area taped off. As soon as the end of the processional passed, they opened the rope and let those of us in the roped-off area move forward into the taped area. I stayed back but sent ds to move up and he got a spot front and center in front of the stage. So when it was over and he returned he was quite happy. They did run out of frozen lemonade before the parade was over. But between the two of us we had 2 frozen lemonades, 2 Mickey bars, and 3 or 4 bottles of water.

I didn't return early to the sing-along. The return window for the 3:30 show was 2:50-3:20. We went at 3:15. It was nice not to be in that super long line. The package line was short and we were seated in the 4th row. The first 2 rows were reserved for individuals with disabilities and their families. The seats were great.

But it was the dessert party that made the package worth it for me. Check-in was 8 (I think!) with the dessert party starting at 8:30. We went by just before 8 and the CM went ahead and checked us off the list then said, "You can line up here if you want but there's plenty of room inside. I recommend you go do something else and come back at 8:30." So we did. We returned right at 8:30 and the line had just started entering the area. We walked in and got a table in the back. It was the 2nd table from the right. It was right in front of a trash can and just in front of and to the left of the platform with the camera. I loved our spot. The hat and the trees that are in the area did obscure part of our fireworks view but that didn't bother me at all. The desserts were delicious and the music was great. I don't drink alcohol but I enjoyed the punch. DS was very tired and periodically he would go and sit in a little space between the trash can and the camera platform. He was completely out of the way and very content. I enjoyed the music. When the fireworks started some of the people in the area shifted around some but we stayed at our table. The price of the package was worth all of the elbow room that we had. There was lots of room around us.

They leave the food out until after the fireworks so when the show was over I got a strawberry popsicle and ds went to play in the snow that was still falling over Hollywood Boulevard. We waited for the crowds to subside before exiting the park.

Itinkso, you rock. Thanks!!

The hours at HS have been extended for the Frozen Fireworks nights...at least the first weekend (that's when we'll be there, so that's what I checked).

Sept 5, 6 & 7, HS is slated to be open until 9:30 pm each night with the fireworks happening at 9:15 pm.

Thank you so much for posting those times! I'll add them to the first post.

We will also be visiting in September and I too am confused with the Frozen madness :)
If we visit HS during the week-will the fireworks and premium package be the only things we will miss out on?
If it is just a 10 minute fireworks show I am guessing that the lower weekday crowds will be worth missing the fireworks for! How early is getting a front rope spot recommended for the 11am parade during the week? Does the dance party include the Frozen gang or just a DJ sort of like the dance parties at MNSSHP?

The fireworks show is phenomenal. Many people have reported back that they liked it better than the Star Wars Fireworks. To me, nothing tops the Star Wars ones. And Hallowishes comes in 2nd for me. Then the Frozen Fireworks take 3rd.

For the parade, it depends where you want to be? The shady spots start filling up around 10:30. I prefer to be down by Star Tours, and we go out at 11:05 and the parade comes down there around 11:10ish. Granted, we miss the welcome and just see the parade.

The dance party is the Fab characters in swim suits. It makes me laugh to see the contract of summer and Frozen. But the music is really good. They've added a couple Frozen songs too, but from the Icemen is sounds so different. Good. But different.

When the band takes breaks, the DJ comes out.

So is September 28th the final day for all of the Frozen Fun at HS? Sept 29th is my HS day...

Yes, officially Sept 28th is the last day. Will there be a surprise twist? I don't think so. When I was hearing rumors, Sept 28 was the date I kept hearing. So at least for FSF it ends with the last day of summer.

I'm with you on wishing they would give out dates earlier for sure since like you mentioned you have to book everything else so far in advance it can really mess up your plans ugh! Having written that I did plan a Saturday DHS just in case they extend Frozen into early November but that's because I'd love to experience it all ... Different reason than you but still having to think about what they might do instead of knowing ahead of time is a pain for those wanting it and those not wanting it.
Recently the park EMH changed at MK so the day I have ADR and dessert party is now a shorter evening with no EMH and a day I have a non park day for resort time is now a EMH evening. Not the biggest deal yet I certainly would of planned differently had I known ahead of time so yeah 180 days notice would be nice since that's when we all have to book are dining and where will be ect.
I hope this works out for you : ) My suggestion is go to DHS during the week since the weekends would certainly be more crowed because of the frozen fireworks. I know if I was going during Sept. I'd want to see the firework so I would go on the weekend. Other than that there's really not much you can do but go with it and hope everyone is at Frozen events so the ride lines are better for the increased crowd level that is quite possible

Yes, more advance notice would have helped many people.

I just booked a package for the last day but I'm a little confused. What exactly am I paying for? It seems like anyone can see the parade and fireworks. So is it just the sing a long, snacks and drinks?

You are paying for a special viewing area and snacks for the parade, reserved seating for the singalong, desserts, and a special viewing area for the fireworks.

The downside to the package are the expense and how early you need to check in to get a good spot for the parade in the package viewing area. I think we got in line at 9:30 when we got a rope spot. When we arrived just after 10 to get in line, there were not more rope spots left.

The information on the first page is great. :thumbsup2 Thank you for that.
A question about viewing the fireworks from the pathway to the Boardwalk - can you hear the music from there? It is the location that wdwmagic used.

Thanks!

I haven't seen that clip from wdwmagic, but it looks like itinkso answered the question. Thanks Itinkso!

Just keep the package until you decide if it is something you and your family really want to do. Cancel at least by midnight the day before.

Right, you can always cancel. But it might be difficult to reschedule after cancelling if you change your mind.

I've read that you can have one person pick up the entire parties sing a long tickets ... But I would suggest checking out the first post of the thread since Lovethattink has so much valuable information that is very helpful : )

Thank you so much!!

Only the 1st day of FSF did people report needing to have the full party present. Since then, just one person for the whole party has been fine. I'm sure as long as it keeps working and people don't abuse it, it will continue this way.

I bought the package the day it was announced and just cancelled 2 days ago, we're going in a few weeks. Everyone can see everything package or not - the difference is the dessert party before the fireworks and snacks before the processional.

Sing-a-long you can still see too, the difference is those with the package will have center seats and everyone else gets side. For our family of 2 adults and 2 kids it was $186 so I cancelled because I'd rather see the earlier F! show instead of attend the dessert party (we got a F! dinner package, I held onto both while deciding which route to go), we're on the dining plan so will have an abundance of snack credits anyway so we can just make our own dessert party. We're going on a Tuesday with crowd level expected to be a 3 or 4. For us it made sense to cancel the package and I booked the Memory Maker for $150 instead.

Sounds like you are making good use of the refunded money. I used MM for the first time in July and really liked it. It was included with the AP room only if you booked 2 nights or more. MM practically paid for the room!

Are the crowds really that bad for this? I've been following this thread for a few weeks and during the busy summer months it appears the crowds haven't been very bad - this will be in the slow-season of September. Why the concern about this turning a "2" day in to an "8" day on the calendar? I'm confused.

I've only ran into two days where the crowds were a bit of a bummer. Opening day, July 5th. And yesterday (Wed, Aug 6). There were lines to get into Oaken's. And people everywhere. Made pushing ds' wheelchair feel like we were on an obstacle course.

Has anyone had success seeing the 11:45 Beauty and Beast show and making it to the 12:30 sing-a-long in time? We are unfortunately restricted to those two show times due to some little ones in our party needing naps.

The 12:30 show fills to capacity. Doors may close at 12:20 IF seats are all filled by then.

debate: any advice welcome

We are there during the extended time. We could do the FROZEN premium package on Friday the 12th, however we were thinking of doing another MNSSHP that night at MK. We are already doing the MNSSHP on the 9th. The 12th is our last day..we leave mid afternoon Saturday.

I'm debating between one or the other. We are already doing DHS on Sunday. BUT we wouldn't arrive until around noon(ish). All we do is TSM, Muppets, Star Wars (which we have FP+) for already. If not a long wait we would do TOT. I would like to shop Oaken's and play in the snow!!! and see the Frozen Sing along. Having dinner at 50's. We won't stay the fireworks this nite as I know we will be tired. Is that too much with such a late arrival and early departure...Do I need to do this? LOL

There are no kids just 2 adults. I'm thinking no...BUT if this is really cool I don't want to miss out.

That's so tough, MNSSHP or package? Personally, I feel there is more bang for the buck with the Halloween Party. And we've never been able to do it all in 1 night. We've needed 2 or more nights to do all we wanted.

If you went to DHS in the first part of the day, you could get in the parade and singalong. Then head over to the MK for after 4pm.

Can you catch the fireworks another night at DHS without the package?

"DJ Chill" is great !! (so are "The Icemen") ---- love the dance party !!!

That's the DJ's name! I couldn't think of it.

Last night we enjoyed them from 8pm to 9:30pm.

Just booked the Premium Package for the 28th - our first full day in the parks! Had to swap some Epcot FP+'s and ADR's around but it's all worked out for the best - sooooo happy they have extended this!

Thanks for all the info everyone :)

Congratulations! Glad it all worked out for you.

If we just wanted to see the fireworks at the end of September what time would we need to get to the park? We booked a premium package but now I am second guessing. We mainly care about the fireworks but don't want to stand on the street for an hour before hand.

Last night we staked our spot out at 8pm. Closer to the fireworks, all space in front of us and the walk way got filled in. We had a lousy view, but the people who filled in the empty spaces at the last minute had great views. This was by the Idol Marquee.

If you watch the processional on Hollywood BLVD before Hollywood and Vine you will be fine. It should pass there by 11:05.

Has the fireworks time for September been posted somewhere that I'm not seeing? Thanks!

Only for Sept 5, 6, 7 - 9:15.

The fireworks are really neat, but the full effect of them require view of the stage, either from the actual stage or one of the big screens. There is one screen on Hollywood BLVD and another at American Idol. There are both stage show elements and the fireworks.

It's only a 10 minute show. Several posts back, Itinkso posted a link to see a video of viewing them from the path to the Boardwalk.

You may want to watch a video of the whole show and compare it to videos of just the fireworks before you make a decision one way or the other.

I need some advice pls- havent been to disney world since I was a kid and am now taking my daughter. We are doing Cinderellas royal table at 9:30 for my kids birthday breakfast. If we don't linger over that meal and head straight over to HS will we be able to make it to the parade on time at 11? We have the package and those are my two priorities for this whole trip. Unless a different CRT opens up at the last minute I'm stuck trying to squeeze both into one day. I'd appreciate if one of you experts could comment on the timing for me. I was planning on getting to CRT 15/20 min early in the hopes theyll seat us early. Thanks!

The adult price is for ages 10 and up correct? The " child" price is 9 and under?
TIA!

Yes. :)

We just got back from an amazing 11 days at WDW. We spent 3 of those days at DHS. I had the Premium Package booked for our last day. I figured that if we got to do everything we wanted the first 2 days that I may cancel.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Sounds like you had a fun 2 days of FSF! I agree about getting there so early for the package. It's too hot even for the parade to wait so long. We did 2 packaged. The first day and July 14th. On July 14th we took our snacks down to the Backlot Express and enjoyed them in the air conditioning. Also, agree, the desserts are what make the package!

Thanks!

Probably not. Typically, CRT is assumed to take 90 minutes. Plus add in travel time to DHS.

I'd say it's within the realm of possibility but it would really stress me out. Even if you miss the processional, you'll still get the sing-along and fireworks.

I'd show up at CRT as soon as you can. If you get to MK by 8:40 or so you can watch the opening show then walk in with the crowds and go straight to check in. If they say they can't seat you until closer to 9:30 then you can ride a few things in Fantasyland before returning to CRT.

We got out of our Tusker House character breakfast in less than an hour, but Crystal Palace took a little longer because there was more time between each character.

Would you be willing to leave CRT even if you didn't meet everyone?

Will you be taking the bus to DHS? You could luck out and one could be waiting, but you may end up waiting 20 minutes and then the ride over is probably 15 minutes or so. Then there's bag check and getting through the DHS gates. You'll be walking into a very crowded area as you head up Hollywood Boulevard into the people waiting for the processional.

The package viewing area won't have great views left if you're walking in at the last minute. And it will take you a moment to check in (although there certainly shouldn't be a line at that point).

I'd keep the package because I think it's worth it for the dessert party, but consider it a bonus if you make it in time for the processional.

Both A and E appear in the sing-along and the fireworks show so at least DD will get to see them.

Hmm ok. I had read it takes an hour. Can you give me an estimate for how long from the castle to hs parade area? Walking time plus bus time. Thanks!

Not a chance. Keep looking for an alternate CRT time. There could be lots of others shuffling around now like you are so I bet you can find something.

Phooey. I was afraid I was being overly optimistic. But thanks for the reality check. We do have a fastpass to meet a and e a few days later so at least we will have enough frozen goodness in our lives. And i have been constantly checking on CRT alternate times but havent seen a single other time available.

Yeah we won't be able to do the premium package.... with the way our week works the fireworks are only Sept 5-7 and Sept 12th while we are there.
Sept 12th we are doing MNSSHP and we fly in late on the 5th staying at universal the 5th-8th. So what we will do is the night of the 7th we will drive down and do HS in the evening. And then on our day I had scheduled on Sept 11th do all of the other frozen stuff.

Sounds like a good plan!

I don't know how late you are going to leave Universal, but they are working on I-4 west bound and things got pretty backed up last night. Not sure how long the construction is suppose to take? Hopefully they'll be done by Sept.

I learned something new last night. Did you know that the Backlot Express has "to-go" containers? I mentioned to the cm taking my order that I was taking the food back outside for firework viewing. He suggested I ask for containers. We had a picnic table at Min and Bill's and enjoyed the Icemen while eating supper.

Just checking DHS hours for September 28 and they got extended. 9-9pm (from 9-7:30pm) with EMH until 11pm!!!:banana::cool1::dance3: (Though probably more like :headache: for others :upsidedow)
What time would the Frozen fireworks be? How early do we have to stake out a spot to see them?

On another note:
If I have a 7pm 50's PTD reservation do you think there'd be time to get a good spot for the Frozen Fireworks!?
