*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

Hi! I apologize if this has already been asked, but couldn't find it with the search option. Will it be crazy busy the last weekend of the month due to Dapper Days? We would be there Friday and/or Saturday. I've looked at 2 different crowd calendars that seem to have conflicting opinions on that. This will be a first visit to DLR! Thank you.

We only have the dining to book, I just don't know what/where/when to book. I am considering winging it and just rocking up and hoping for the best, I kinda like the idea of the freedom of eating where we want as opposed to being locked in and maybe not feeling like eating at that particular place that evening.

We only do one sit down each trip (we go for 2-4 days) but we really like booking a late breakfast at Carnation Cafe on Main St. We book in the last half hour on a weekend day. It is a quick meal that doesn't cost much more than a quick service but after hitting the park at rope drop, we find a 10:30ish brunch to be a great break.

This trip we won't be doing this, but we do enjoy this place!

Not sure. But I was wondering if you can link to me to the crowd calendars you're looking at.

I don't know about anyone else but it is raining where I live, the forecast is for rain right through the weekend and February cannot come fast enough!

So agree. Ready for a Disney. Glad to see days ticking off. Started countdown at 4 1/2 months so about 1/2 way there.

Nope not raining but -25 C! But at least it's sunny!

Haven't been doing much planning with the DL portion of our California trip with the hours not out and can't make dining reservations.

I've been so 'worried' that my son may not be walking by vacation. But things are starting to look up! A little over a week ago, he started taking steps between my husband and myself (when prompted to do so.) And yesterday he started taking the initiative to walk on his own a bit. He can go quite a few steps and his balance is improving. So I am sure that in 69 days he will be much more steady on his feet. Woohoo! I can't believe our countdown is in the 60's. I've basically been counting down since January 2013. And I've been doing a daily photo countdown (pictures from previous DLR trips) on Instagram since 250 days.

Congrats on the starting to walk situation. He will be running before you know it :cool1:

We started our count down in may this yr, so happy to be down to 64 days as of today. Only seems like yesterday i was excited we got to double digits of 99 days, now it is almost only 2 months out :woohoo::woohoo:

:yay: Yippy! Glad he's started getting more sure on his feet!

I can never figure out how the days/weeks seem to take so much longer when counting down for Disneyland! I think we're at 69 days now, too, and it still seems like February is so far away!

We had 4 countdowns going on at once in the last few months -

For my daughter
End of Yr 12 in september
HSC Exams in October
Graduation formal in November

then the really major one left - Disneyland in February

With all those to count down, the past few months have gone so fast, as there was so many major things to count down

I just ordered a couple of shirts from Etsy. I got short sleeves so they can wear them in Aulani this summer too, hopefully!

So...now I'm trying to decide what we want to do about our son sleeping in the hotel room. Originally, we figured we'd just order a cheap Pack n Play on amazon.com and ship it to the hotel, then just leave it there. It would cost about $40 (as opposed to $80 to rent a crib at the hotel.)

But now that we're flying Southwest, I think we may be able to check a Pack n Play for free.

So we just need to decide if it's worth it to lug around the Pack n Play to save $40 or not.

Decisions, decisions.

What do you guys with toddlers do in hotels for your kids?

Most hotels have a pack and play (or rarely a crib) that you can use for free. We use that and I have a padded pack and play sheet/ liner I put on top and then a pack and play sheet from home. You really don't need the liner, I just thought it seemed uncomfortable, but really, not any more so than a $40 pack and play would be anyway. You could also fold up a blanker and put that under the pack and play sheet. I lay the sheet out in the baby's room for a few days so it "smells" like home, but maybe this is more in my head than useful!

Oh oops! Just saw you said it was $80 to rent a crib. Yikes- that's a lot! Has your LO slept in a pack and play much? If so, I'd bring it with me. If not, I would suck it up and do the crib, just because it is more like home. I'd still bring my own sheet too.

I am kind of grossed out by the idea of renting a crib. Plus I don't know if I trust the safety of it. He never sleeps in a pack n play so I am nervous about vacation. But really our options are quite limited so we'll just have to make the best of it.

I considered ordering a cheap mattress on amazon to put into the pack n play but that would add $20. So I am thinking we may just fold up a blanket or something under the mattress that comes with the Pack n Play to help with any of the support bars that may dig into him. Though, a blanket may make it too soft. He's used to a very firm mattress.

I am really, really hoping that the PnP won't seem that different from his crib to him. I just can't decide if we should just buy a new on and ditch it or check one of ours (we own two.) I am leaning towards buying a new one just because we will already have so much stuff - 2 checked bags, a wheeled carry-on, two carry-on backpacks, a stroller, and a car seat.

You could buy it and then contact a woman's shelter or pregnant teen charity and see if they will pick it up at the hotel when you are done. Then you can use it, help a needy mom, and get a tax deduction at the same time!
