*Official* DWTS 2012 Thread

Okay, I'll chime in real quick here.

Yep, glad it was Kristen...
Don't know where all the shock and surprise ( gasp - she would have been a frontrunner ) is coming from!!! It is just another reality show that is being completely and totally scripted. :sad2:

Okay, here is where I get to my real point. 'Beyonce' routine... :rotfl2:

C'mon people, I have seen enough female you-know-whats, with knees spread as wide open as humanly possible, full front to the cameras, in the three weeks this season already that I just look away. seriously.... makes me want to hurl.

It is not even Beyonce - it is pure and simple, disgusting Britney Spears.

And, yes, I think that this is being scripted/encouraged by the producers.

I was so glad to see Derek come back, and to see the moves he did with a woman who is almost old enough to be his mother. Len was turning green and shaking his head. But, it was obvious that he had been told by the producers to say nothing.

This is NOT dancing, people....

And, before you all start on the 'prude' stuff... I am all for the sexy Sambas, the sexy costumes, etc... But NOPE, grinding and exposing female parts (while wearing fishnet hose and garters) is just NOT dancing.

And, how many times have we heard it promoted that 'This is a show that the whole family, from the kids to grandparents, can watch....' :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yep, maybe grandpa is gettin' a kick out of the Britney Spears crap.

:sad2:

I have to say I'm really kind of surprised that Chaz pulled off another week. While I do like him as a person, he can't dance a step. It really should have been him to go home this week. I think JR has the chance to take it all in the end :thumbsup2

watching The View. After Monday's show, Nancy was interviewed asking about Amanda Knox being released. Nancy said that she strongly believed she was guilty. Does anyone think that will hurt her fan base with the show?

I know! Mark was all in a huff on stage. His face was very tense with barely concealed anger. Ugh, I haven't liked him for several seasons now. He wants to be Derek I think and he's, well, no Derek! Derek's choreography is superior to his and it shows. He's so much better with his celebrity too.

The big difference between Mark and Derek is that Mark choreographs to make himself look good and Derek choreographs to make the partner look good.

I know people are shocked when better "dancers" go home but this is, at least in part, a popularity contest. Chaz really can't dance but his mother is Cher. His fan base is large because of it. I find myself throwing a vote for Tristan.... oh yeah and Nancy because I enjoy his dancing. His brogue may play a small part ;) I'm not a fan of her or her dancing. I think as the show goes on those that really can't dance get weeded out.

I can see how you would think that. I think it's a little bit different, though. I would say that Mark choreographs to distract from his partner's flaws not to showcase himself. For instance he adds a lot of pizazz and jazz hands to his own dancing as a kind of "Look at me! Look here! Don't look at my partner!". When his partners do dance, they are often not technical enough with their footwork and they rely on shimmying or butt shaking/grinding with him tossing their skirt from the back with both hands. Derek, as much as I think he's a giant primo don, works with his partners strengths *and* weaknesses and challenges them. He doesn't upstage them like Mark and Anna tend to.

I was surprised to see her get the boot last night. I thought Hope was the weaker dancer but I like Hope better personally. I think Carson and Nancy are gonna get the ax soon.

JR's dance had me weeping like a baby. What a great guy her is...and a total catch. I might add him to my "list".

I have to say that Chaz was not the best dancer BUT he has a fan base.

Kristin to me, has a very small base and even if people DID start to like her if they didn't know her after her "story" which was really lame. I could have gotten up there and said the same thing. You are not a hollywood actress you were a snotty teenage girl on a reality show.

Just like when Audrina got kicked off 2 seasons ago, everyone was upset because she was good ( I felt sooo bad for Tony!) but again no one really knew who she was.

I agree with a few PP's that Derek  doesn't show off himself, I also think he is a great teacher and that is why his stars usually go further.

JR made me cry and cry and then to listen to what he said to Chaz after his scores on Monday night made me cry all over again. I hope he goes all the way and YES Karina has totally mellowed out but I think she is happy now, isnt' she married or engaged? She might just be in a better place and I think she can go all the way with JR this season!!

I call shenanigans on Cher tweeting that she'll be in the audience next week if Chaz stays before the voting was over. Oh, well, I suppose anyone of the "stars" with connections could do that. Except Rob Kardashian. His connections would probably drive people away from voting for him.

Not only did Chaz look awful in his outfit, did you see that baggy wierd dress Lacey had on? It was one of those skin colored outfits that's supposed to look sexy but it didn't fit skin tight and it looked like she had on her big sister's Halloween costume.

I'm rooting for JR and Karina. Totally charming, both of them.:thumbsup2

I agree that while Chaz was the weakest dancer and should have gone home once they add viewer votes the popularity contest takes over and you have to have a lot of people out there that will vote for you.

As for pros I guess I'm in the minority. I can't stand Maks, yuck. He does nothing for me, he is arogant and full of himself. I don't have any problems with Mark or Anna, rather like them actually.

Love Carson and hope he stays for a while. Agree Hope has no grace. Nancy, eh can take her or leave her but she should go soon based on ability. Kardashian is also foregettable. David isn't anything great either thought he might go this week based on last week. Chynna like her but agree she needs to be stronger. Rikki is good and I see her making it to the finals. JR - love him!

I was finally able to watch some of the earlier dances last night. What a big improvement for Carson! I do have to admit that if Anna continues to work with him so HE improves then I might be able to let go my Anna hate just a little. Then again, I think Carson is so theatrical and wonderful that he calls every iota of attention to himself and not a single little bit to Anna :lmao:.

I still think Anna has the it's about me 'tude, but with Carson, she is dealing with a personality that is bigger than life and she just can't out do that without making it very obvious that the dance is about her strenghts and not Carsons.

Yes, I said that the first week. He may not know choreography but he knows styling and design. He knows how to make someone the center of attention standing in place and when they are the focal point. I can see Anna trying to choreograph to make herself the center o attention and Carson will just not let her do that. And he knows it's all in the attitude - which he has plenty of. He's bigger than life. Heck, he was probably dancing in heels long before Anna was. :p

Too bad. He rode that same gravy train with Bristol.

Yes, Bristol made it to THIRD place because of her (mom's) fan base. :sad2:

Is it just me or does it seem like Karina has mellowed out in her Diva attitude these last two seasons. She seemed to push Ralph to the front last season and it seems like she is doing the same with JR this season. She's making the dances be about them, not her.

I think so, too.

exactly.

and plus everyone knows the deal when they sign on for this show.
If they want it to be strictly about dancing then don't let america vote:rotfl2:

More precisely, the audience should know it. We have this debate every season.

I have tried to watch the real ballroom dancing competitions on PBS. I don't know any of the pairs. As flawless and brilliant as their dancing is, those shows are real snoozers to me.

It would probably different to see them in real life, but on TV, boring. I need to watch for someone I know and to root for them. :yay:

Yes, it's ironic. Both Mark & Derek learned to dance from Mark's mom & his dad, Corky. But Derek is a better choreographer and teacher. He knows how to teach better and play to his dancers strengths.

Mark relies on gimmick to cover up for his lesser teaching ability. If I have to see another shimmy. . . :sad2:

Chaz is not only riding on his and Cher's fan base. But gay people have tuned in to watch Carson and are probably throwing a few votes to Chaz.

I'll say what is politically incorrrect and will probably get flamed, but, I think that Kristen & Hope were considered the frontrunners because both of them are skinny. People expected them to go farther than Nancy or Rikki.

They also have two of the best and favorite male dance partners.

No flames from me. I am convinced the reason why Erin Andrews went as far as she did was because she looked like a pair of olives on a toothpick and she had M-M-Maks as her partner.

I totally agree with this. Skinny and young goes a long way on these shows. While I'm no fan of Nancy Grace, I did think it was rude when Bruno made a comment about it being more difficult for her because of the difference in body type between her and Tristan. (This was last week). He might as well have come out and said "It's harder for you because you're a chunky monkey, Nancy Grace.". Speaking of that, Rikki Lake has really dropped a few, eh? <-- the only dancing smilie i could find

What the heck??

Apparently, I'm in the minority, but Kristen did not deserve to go home. I considered her a front runner. She's an amazing dancer along with Chyna and Ricki.

Sorry, but Chaz, Nancy, and Hope need to GO. In that order. For crying out loud, Chaz barely moves on the floor. Compare his dance to Kristen's, and they are world's apart... :headache:

Love Carson for the entertainment value alone!

I realize that this show is a big popularity contest. I know that going into every season, but yet, I always still get so angered when someone goes home that doesn't deserve too.

I wish the judges' scores counted more to make it more fair.

I'd LOVE to see a change in the rules - perhaps America can only vote to save one of the bottom 3 or 2.

That would encourage everyone to dance their butts off in order to secure a top spot.

No more putting forth very little effort knowing that you can skate by with a big fan base. Grrrr...

No flames. Politically incorrcet or not, it's hard to argue with what you have seen - of this - from past seasons. Although, there are some that will try.

But isn't it interesting that along the same line, there have been those males that were bigger guys and it didn't hurt them in the voting. Look at Kyle Massey and Warren Sapp. Both placed 2nd in their seasons. Neither are light weights, although Kyle did slimmed down a lot during his season and has kept it off.

If your female and heavy, it's always seen as a negative.
If your male and heavy, it varies from person to person.

Still, I will love the show - even for all it's flaws.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Yes, the males are just called "big guys." :sad2:

I am in the minority with you. I think Kristen was lightyears better than Chaz and he needs to go home, I am WAY tired of it being a popularity contest, and I would like to see the voting procedure changed too - maybe have it weighted so the judge's votes count 2-to-1 vs: the call in votes??
