Official Disneyland ½ Marathon & 5k

I tried calling yesterday but no one answered the phone so I sent an email instead. Got a reply today that they will take 36min3sec off my time and that I do qualify for C2C.

Now I have true incentive to train for DL 1/2. I know I don't want to feel the way I did at the end of the WDW half.

Yay!! That's great news!!

Did anyone else notice that we will not be getting Swag Bags this year? The only thing mentioned is an iGiftBag. :confused3

Maybe they'll do something better like the shoe bags they used to do at some of the WDW races? As long as it's not like those cloth bags they use at RnR. I hate those! They're so small and carry nothing. I have to bring another bag to use for after the race.

All they have been putting in there are advertising for other races anyway, so now it will just be emailed. The free stuff you can get from the vendors at the expo.

I believe that they are still going to give out the clear plastic bags as these have been the only ones that were allowed to be bag checked.

BTW, signed up for my 4th DL Half today. Gonna sign the kids up for their races in a few weeks.

Someone said that they reserved their hotel through Get Travel, but when I called yesterday I was told that they won't have it ready for a few more weeks.

Edit: Nevermind, I just went back to the site and was able to reserve a room.

I am registered for the DL Half. I am going to try for the C2C but running the Princess next month for WDW park. I was able to use my frequent flying miles to get a ticket out to CA. Just have to wait until the end of the month and see if I can get in Grand California with DVC points. If not I am going to use points for DL Hotel. It is more points than Paradise Pier, but think it will be a closer walk after the race. LOL

Just booked the DL Hotel and our tickets for the half-marathon weekend through GET Travel-- can't wait! We are splurging a little bit to stay at the DL Hotel, but can't imagine a better time to do it. Happy that we have the opportunity to stay right in the middle of things for the run while we work for our C2C medal!

Also started running again after giving my body a 2 week break after the WDW half... unfortunately I got sick about week after the race, but am finally feeling like my body is coming around. Didn't quite go my regular pace, and was stuck inside on a treadmill, but it did feel good to get up and moving again. Hopefully things will get easier as I keep recuperating and work to find my groove again.

Yay!! That's great news!!
Thanks! It just got updated today. Nice to see the better results. My friend & I signed up for the DL 1/2! Now I've got to actually train for this one. Don't want to feel like I did in Florida without training and can't go all that way and not bring home the bling!

YEAH! That is great news!!! I am hoping that I survive the Princess since I already signed up for the DL 1/2!!! :rotfl:

Good luck to both of you for the Princess!

The snow finally abated enough that I was able to get out and get in a decent 13 miler today. Still had a lot of slush and ice on the sides and trails so stuck mainly to the road but felt so good after a week of only getting one 2 miler in.

It is very cool to read about all the C2C challengers here. Hopefully someday I will be able to make that happen.

I hadn't even considered the C2C Challenge until I was soaking my blistered feet in the hot tub (ouch) after running the WDW marathon and one of the other hot tub visitors mentioned it. I cannot pass up that medal, and I'm pretty sure I won't be running in WDW anytime soon (Disneyland is just so much easier for me to get to), so it's now or never. This time I'm taking my husband and 2 kiddos and making it a family event (I so missed them at the finish line in Florida). We've registered for the half (my goal is to train well enough to run with my tall husband) and the kids are set for the kids races. We booked DLH through Get Travel - awesome prices, and now I just need to get our plane tickets. Disneyland is my happy place and I am so excited for this event! Good wishes to all!

I own at VGC so I did a check for you. Although it might change, of course, as of right now studios, 1 bedrooms and 2 bedroom lockoffs are all booked for the nights of Sat 9/1 and Sun 9/2. A regular 2 bedroom is still showing availablity for that weekend.

So...DLH or Paradise Pier? We will have 2 Adults and 2 Kids (8 & 6).

I stayed at PPH for last year's Disneyland Half (first time staying onsite) and I really liked the hotel. :thumbsup2

I love that is smells like sun tan lotion when you walk in the lobby and that the rooms have beach ball pillows. :)

We had a room with 2 queen beds and a sofa that pulled out in to a bed.

We stayed at PP for a short trip this past Oct. It was short notice and we had no chance to use our points at VGC. It was nice there, but if you book there, make sure you are not of the floors facing the pool (we were on the 4th floor and it was quite noisy into the early morning hours).

Although it's more points, I think if I had young kids I'd try to get into the DLH. The redone pool area is nice, and the kids at least have some grounds around the hotel and pool where they can spend time. PP, not so much.

BTW, if you have a LOT of points, they changed the rules again recently and now you can use them for the hotel rooms at VGC. We stayed in those several times before the villas were built and they were a pretty typical hotel room size.

We decided to splurge and take advantage of the GET Travel rate for the DLH. We figured if we were going to go for PP, we might as well spend the extra $30/night and stay right in the heart of the expo/closer to the start/finish line. Just having finished all the renovations is also an added plus- looking forward to enjoying the hot tubs/pool area as well as being in the center of the magic!

Finally starting to get into a routine again after taking a couple weeks after running the WDW half to present at a conference. Feels good to get back to moving, even if I have to run on the treadmill because it's too dark when I get home from work. Trying to schedule a some races now to help keep me motivated until summer when the real training starts.

Thanks for checking. I really appreciate it. I had a feeling that might be the case with the race being as popular as it is. I know it is cheaper point wise to stay at GCV, but I think DLR hotel would be better due to location of event (and walk back to the room).

Another interesting thing, race is already over 50% full in just a week.

I just signed my husband and I up for DL!! This will be my 10th half marathon and my husband's 2nd (he finished the Donald in January, I did the Donald and the Chip and Dale). I had wanted to wait a few more weeks to sign up, but the race hitting 51 percent yesterday put me over the edge!

This is also my VERY FIRST TRIP TO DL!!! I've been to WDW literally dozens of times since 1991 and I was a DVC kid and now I'm a DVC owner. My husband and I were also fortunate enough to visit Disneyland Paris last year. I'm so excited to actually go where it all started!

That being said, I'm feeling very overwhelmed with picking a DL hotel. I would love to stay at a Disney hotel, but they're a bit more than I want to pay. So I was looking at either HoJo (which has a D23 discount) or the Alpine Inn. Hopefully I'll be able to find reasonable airfare as well!

Called up DVC and got a room at PPH. DLH was just too many points for 2 nights. At least now I am all set and just have to finish the Princess and train for it.

You're going to love DL. The Alpine used to be my fave place to stay. B/c it backs up against the old parking lot, there used to be a gate next to it where you could go in and catch the parking lot tram to the entrance, but when CarsLand went up and the parking lot wasn't used anymore, they stopped the shuttle. But it's a nice hotel, and I think they did a remodel about 5 or so years ago. If you go w/ them, they do an AAA discount. It used to be hard to figure it out on their website, but if you call them to book, they'll give it to you.

I'm so excited!! I signed myself and the kids up for the 5k and then I'll be doing the half marathon the next day.

I did the 5k in 2011 and when I saw the participants from the half marathon and after talking to a few of them, I made myself a goal to do the half myself. I did my first half marathon in October 2011 and i'm both nervous and excited for this one.

Signed up! I was going to wait until I knew that I had finished the Princess, but when it was 51% full after the first week I though I had better not wait! More motivation to make sure that I finish the princess now! Even if I have to limp or crawl over the finish line!

Hello, wanted to join the thread - I registered last week for the half. This will be my first race beyond an occassional fun run 5k, thought I would make it a good one!

Looking forward to checking out the remodeled DLH. We stayed at the GC last winter for my son's birthday and loved it but think he will enjoy the pool area at DLH.
