Official Disneyland ½ Marathon & 5k

I couldn't find it....who wrote it? I am very curious.....

Thanks

It's the Dateline Disneyland article by Any Castro. It comes out on Mondays and gives updates about everything going on in the park and construction. It's towards the very end of the article after all of his pics.

Just got home from the Princess and now I am even more excited about running the DL 1/2!!!

Found it! Thanks....what an update! Guy doesn't miss a thing!
Yea, I really like his articles. They have so many pics and you can really watch the changes w/ the construction. They come out every Monday if you're interested.

I REALLY wish they would !!!
Can't wait until the DL 1/2.

I think so too. And I think it should be in May so the races are spaced out.

I agree ladies!! I like the May too. I'm bias b/c I love TOT and the old medal , not sure what the new one will look like, as well as Halloween but I figured out a TOT race for us too! If you start the way we did w/ Tink, even a little further back on DL Drive, you can easily get a 10k route. I pretty much followed the course through DL and then instead of going into DTD like we did w/ the 1/2, I did the 5k route into DCA and wound around DCA. I was hoping to get a 13k, b/c that one is a little more TOT-ish, but we would have to go around the streets a bit more for the extra mile & 1/2 or so. Can you tell I'm a little bored at the office today? Maybe I should try to get a job w/ them and try to work a little DL influenced magic. :rotfl2:

Send in your resume...you've got everything thought out and we do need another race at DL.

I can't wait for the DL 1/2 !!!! More importantly....waiting for reg. to open for Tink and Princess 1/2 in 2013. :rolleyes1

Wow! My sisters and I got caught up in the Princess Expo Rundisney booth and signed up for the Disneyland 1/2!
This will be my 2nd Disneyland 1/2 - I did it last year and had a great time.
So now we are going for our "Coast to Coast to Coast". Tink/Princess/DL 1/2's.
I really wish they had a medal for that! HAHAHAHA!!! :rotfl:

Me too!! But no Princess, Marathon weekend for me.

Love it!!!

Does anyone know when they announce the theme for the 5K?

I was going to say June, but now I think about it, I can't remember. July is in my head too, but I think that is for the courses. :rotfl2: So I'm going to say b/w May and early July.

I am so impatient! I want to know NOW! :rotfl:

Hi All!

Just wanted to chime in now that I am officially registered for the DL Half and have my hotel and airfare booked. I will be staying at DL hotel with a great group rate from mousefantravel.com.

This will be my 6th RunDisney race. I just did the Goofy in January and want to do the DL half to get my C2C medal. I'm looking forward to not having to bus to the start!

My DD was thinking about running it with me but she couldn't decide and now it's full. Hopefully, she'll be able to join me to cheer anyway.

Me too!! And the courses. I wish they would post it now, construction will be done so they could easily have it all planned out.

Did she look into the charity registration slots? I think they might have spots still available if she's interested. You're going to love the DLH. Stayed there a couple of years ago and it was the easiest pre/post race I have ever experienced.

How was Goofy? I'm doing that next year, any training tips?

Hi all! Just got home from running the Princess! My DP and I were able to snag 2 of the last spots for the DL 1/2 at the Expo. I was a bit nervous signing up for the DL before running the Princess (my first), but the race went great, and I am so excited for Coast to Coast! I think we'll also end up doing the TOT 10miler.

How do they do the Corral placements for the DL? We were placed in B for the Princess with a submitted 10K of 1:04. Any idea what that would get in the DL? TIA!

Hi Kim! I 'll mention the charity slots to her but she's not much on fundraising so we'll see. I'm really excited to stay at the DLH especially since they just finished renovating it. Stayed there on our 1st trip to DL in the mid 90's and at VGC in 2010. This will be my 3rd trip!

I had some foot/leg issues the past year so I just trained to finish the Goofy. I followed Galloway's training plan and increased my walking intervals. It was also my first marathon so I didn't worry about my time. My best tip for doing your first marathon and/or Goofy is to just enjoy it! It doesn't matter what your time is as it will be a PR!

Last year, they had Corrals A-G/H. I submitted a 2:45 time last year and was in Corral E for last year, Corral D for the year before. But they did add an additional 2,000 spots so not sure how that will affect the Corral set-up. If you did the same 1:04 10k time, that's about a 2:15-2:20 1/2? If things stay the same this year, I would think C or D. And you can always move up at the expo; that's what I'm hoping to do.

For the set up, they have you line up along DL Drive all the way straight back up onto the overpass. In previous years, they had A-C together in front of an intersection, D-E on the other side of the intersection and F-G on a perpendicular street. Last year that had everyone on DL Dr and it was kind of a mess trying to get into the corrals so I'm hoping this year they go back to the previous years.

I saw you're in Boston, my sister lives in Allston!! I love it there. And Regina's sounds so good right now. Mmm... :lovestruc

The renovations look awesome, you'll have a great time. Thanks for the tips! My goal will just be finishing as well. I have the Tink race in DL the next weekend so no PRs for those races. Finishing will make me happy enough! :goodvibes

I really hope I end up in corral A for DL! I was in A for the WDW marathon with a 55 minute 10k and I'm hoping (fingers crossed!!) to break 2 hours in the half this spring. The only bad thing about being in A is that my DH isn't that fast, so we don't get to start together.

Speaking of submitting times, I registered for the DL half before running the WDW Half back in January, so I didn't have a time yet. Is there some way to report a time now that I have one to report?

Also, any ideas when they might reveal the medal/logo? Is is usually the same year after year, or do they change it a little bit?

Can't wait! Already have a bunch of DL music on my running playlist to keep me going! 8(:-D

Proof of time should include name of race, year, distance and time finished (i.e. 2011 Disneyland® Half Marathon - 2:25). If you do not have a proof of time to submit, list "N/A" at the point of registration. Proof of time must be provided from a race 10K or longer. All forms of proof of time must be from a race after July 1, 2011. If you do not provide proof of time you will be placed in the last start corral.

If you do not provide proof of time at the point of registration or acquire it after you have registered, then email this information to disneysports@trackshack.com before September 1, 2012. After September 1, 2012, you will need to bring proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relations booth at Disney's Health & Fitness Expo if you wish to have your start corral placement changed. If you listed a race result as proof of time when registering online, then you do not have to do anything further.
