No Jedi Mickey..... I was going to request a Jedi Mickey for my hubby's birthday at Cali grill but when I emailed them to inquire I receives a response that due to copy right issues no Star Wars themes cakes can be ordered outside of DHS. So now plan two, hubby likes grumpy .... Can anyone give me some good grumpy cake pictures or ideas? It will be a cake that needs to serve 7. Thanks!

someone is definitely behind the times when it comes to star wars. Disney now owns the star wars brand so there shouldn't be any copywrite issues. They got it when they bought lucasfilms over a year ago so that shouldn't be a problem for making a jedi mickey cake anywhere on property.

Disney also owns Marvel but there are agreements in place about where the characters can be seen and where they cannot. An example of this is the Tron monorail car can go around the resort loop at MK but not the Epcot loop because that one actually enters a park and the agreement says it can only be seen in Universal parks. Maybe there's an agreement that only Star Wars characters can be seen in DHS.

I'm just saying that maybe the CM was not wrong.

Never ordered a cake before. How long can you order them in advance? We are going for DD birthday and also our anniversary, which are already booked. I was planning on doing a cake for both occasions.

. I Donald Duck Darth maul on a dessert at Cali grill before not issues, strange.

Of course this was under Chef Brian.

Ya I really thought it was a strange answer but I now have corresponded with three different people at the email address for the contemporary cakes and none have disagreed with the answer that they cannot make anything Star Wars , it really stinks!

We were there in May or my sons birthday. We ate at Chef Mickey. I was told that they weren't able to do anything Star Wars then either. I just went with a Mickey cake.

I need to order a cake for our dinner at Narcoosees on 1/12 for DH's birthday. Does anyone know the best days/times to call to actually speak to someone (Pat I'm assuming?) and not just leave a voicemail? Thanks!

I think all calls go to voice mail then they call the people back. I think if they really did just answer the calls they would be sitting on the phone all day.

tron is owned by disney not marvel. I think you mean iron man and yes universal owns the theme park rights to maravel characters east of the mississippi. That's why disneyland can have ironman or captain america or thor items on display and DHS can't. but that isn't the case with star wars. Disney has the rights to all the characters.

You can order months and months in advance if you want to, but I recommend doing it no more than 3 weeks out so they don't lose your cake order. :thumbsup2

We are staying at Bay Lake Tower and I want to order a white chocolate monorail to be delivered to our room for my husband's birthday. Do I call the cake number for the CR to order this?

You can call the contemporary and ask to be connected to private dining. I believe they ask for at least 72 hours advanced notice

Hey Y'all,
I haven't had the pleasure of being on this board since 2009 when we last took a "big" trip to The World! It's good to see some familiar names/faces from last time :)

A few questions:
- Does anyone know if they do cakes at Shades of Green or have any experience with them? If they don't do cakes, can you order one from somewhere else and have it delivered? If not, do any of these bakers allow you to pick up (so we can bring back to SoG) or do you have to eat it there?

- Is Chef Brian still at Chef Mickey's? He was so awesome to deal with on my birthday cake in 2009. Is there anyone similar to him at 1900 Park Fare?

- We REALLLLY are pushing it with this trip- we shouldn't be going, but I wanted to go before my youngest turned 3 and my oldest turned 10, so we're going for youngest DD's 2nd birthday in September. My point is, we can't spend $75 or $100 on a cake. I think mayyyybe $50 max. I don't think we need more than a 6" (the 8" was WAYYYY too much for us last time- we don't want leftovers). I'd like to get something with MickeyMouse Clubhouse or something a 2 YO would like- I've only seen a couple of pics on here with MMCH. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome back! :wave2:

Shades of Green does not appear to have the capability to do fancy cakes. They contract with local baker It's Tasty Too for weddings, so I'm sure you'd have no problem getting ITT to deliver a birthday cake to SOG. You'll also find ITT's prices to be cheaper than Disney's.

Chef Brian is no longer doing the cakes at the Contemporary. There are numerous skilled pastry chefs working at the Grand Floridian, though.

You might try looking on Flickr or doing a Google image search for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse-themed cakes and then sending the pictures to the pastry chef. :thumbsup2
